Meanwhile, back in the real world, Obama is determined to let Iran go nuclear [Darleen Click]

No wonder why he dropped the N-Bomb as just another version of SQUIRREL!

TEHRAN — With exactly a week left before the deadline for a final agreement to limit Iran’s nuclear program, the country’s supreme leader appeared to undercut several of the central agreements his negotiators have already reached with the West.

In a speech broadcast live on Iran state television, the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, demanded that most sanctions be lifted before Tehran has dismantled part of its nuclear infrastructure and before international inspectors verify that the country is beginning to meet its commitments. He also ruled out any freeze on Iran’s sensitive nuclear enrichment for as long as a decade, as a preliminary understanding announced in April stipulates, and he repeated his refusal to allow inspections of Iranian military sites.

American officials said they would not be baited into a public debate with the ayatollah, who has the final word on nuclear matters. But with Western foreign ministers already hinting that the negotiations may go past the June 30 deadline, both American and European officials have said in recent weeks that they are increasingly concerned about the possible effects of the ayatollah’s statements. […]

The ayatollah has repeatedly mixed his unyielding statements with assurances that he supports the negotiations, and tributes to the patriotism of the negotiators. But his remarks on Tuesday were his strongest yet, and came just two or three days before Secretary of State John Kerry and other foreign leaders are supposed to convene in Vienna.

One of his statements, for example, suggested that a central premise of the deal — that sanctions would be lifted only in close coordination with Iran’s dismantlement of centrifuges and reduction of its stocks of low-enriched uranium — is not possible.

“All economic, financial and banking sanctions, implemented either by the United Nations Security Council, the United States Congress or the administration, must be lifted immediately when the deal is signed,” the ayatollah said, according to his personal website, Khamenei.ir.

We are in the best of hands.

OT: Just ran into this article by a Venezuelan making her first trip to the U.S. http://sumarium.com/el-imperio-no-es-malo-el-relato-de-mi-primer-viaje-a-miami/

In Miami she was gobsmacked by the grocery stores—look at the photos in the article—especially the pet food, general abundance, no long lines, and the fact that every item on those shelves is available 24/7. For sure.

Not to mention the safety: she didn’t have to hide her smartphone while on the streets nor even in her car (where in Venezuela they’ll knock on your window, point a gun at you, and take the phone).

And the cleanliness of the whole place plus the excellent service on the airplane as well as everywhere else.

¿Nos han estado engañando? El “imperio” no es tan malo, says the Tweet. “Have they been lying to us? The ‘Empire’ isn’t that bad.”

The e-zine’s motto is No se puede ser imparcial entre la verdad y la mentira: “You cannot take a neutral stand between the truth and lies,” so the author wasn’t a Chavista who was genuinely surprised to find things better in Miami, and the rhetorical question is juuust a bit sarcastic.

Even so, it reminds me of the Soviets who came here and were blown away by our abundance. It’s very sad that Venezuela has been reduced to such a wasteland as the USSR was. Some of its inhabitants can still remember when Venezuela was much, much different.

If one cannot think of “the best of hands” simply in terms of Andreas Lubitz, then perhaps in the alternative it may be possible to think in terms of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, with dead Jews, as always, the spoils of war. Let’s just ignore Poland, in any event.

Insert relevant names as necessary, at your leisure.

Is a modern day Munich Agreement too obvious? Obamunist Ohpeasers wanting Peace In Our Time?

Heh, on radio just now the ClownNogre says he thinks paying ransom to terrorists wouldn’t be a good idea . . . but giving $150 billion in economic sanctions relief to Iran for making a nuclear weapons deal that results in Iranian hegemony in the Middle East with widespread regional proliferation? Why that’s just a cost of doing business. So said Stalin, so say we all.

  8. guinspen says:

    I apologize, profusely.

    Or not.

  9. sdferr says:

Munich doesn’t fit. This isn’t a deal between a Britain and a Nazi power Curmudgeon, but one between the USSR (that would be ClownNogre) and Nazi Chermany (that would be Ayatollah Khamenei).

I’ve been reliably informed on Twitter that this is so.

I wonder why I never take the hint.

Meanwhile, our homegrown “consciousness raised” dupes are ready to politically fellate the Chavezistas, just as they politically fellated the Sandinistas two decades before. Something about the Latin Look among tyrants really gets them off.

Last night I was watching a true crime show on ID about a derange neighbor who eventually got her hands on a bomb to seek revenge. She blew her self up trying to arm the bomb.

We can only hope Iran would hoist themselves on their own petard.

To this end it may be sufficient to reflect on the meaning of Operation Barbarossa. However, if the Ayatollah’s hubris would be the good news, the other news — the bad news — was what Stalin knew and counted on: the briarpatch nature of his own nation, and the resulting 20 million war casualties from the Soviet Union.

Pretty sure that still counts as a “win” according to the jihadi score card.
