Paul Revere Dick has passed away at 76
Roger Hart, manager for Paul Revere and the Raiders, said he died Saturday at his home in Garden Valley, Idaho, from cancer.
“He’d been quiet about it for some time,” Hart said. “Treated at the Mayo Clinic, Paul stayed on the road as long as he could, then retired recently back to Idaho, where he and his wife, Sydney, always kept a home.”
Revere, born Paul Revere Dick, became known as “the madman of rock and roll” for his theatrical colonial wardrobe and infectious onstage persona with the band.
“From Day 1, we’ve always been a party band that accidentally had some hit records and accidently got on a hit television series,” Revere told The Associated Press in a 2000 interview.
Another great one passes – kicks just seem getting harder to find.
Along with The Sonics, The Kingsmen, etc., PRatR were the Fathers of Garage Rock, of which many of us were the sons in the late 1970’s.
Let’s not forget: He inspired Elizabeth Warren.

The kicks just keep getting harder to find.
I saw him perform once in Las Vegas. Very entertaining.
First Concert. At a mall. Almost made off with one of the tricorner hats. 12 or 13 maybe.
PRatR made me proud of my Cherokee blood.
You know: though I wear a shirt and tie, I’m still a Red Man deep inside [and I can drink like one, too].
You know, I had to leave town on one of uncle Sam’s deals, when I got back I heard the bad, bad news. my good good loven done lost its appeal.
Hungry for that good life, hungry through and through.
Saw them at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento in 1965, just before I had to leave town on one of Uncle Sam’s deals. Mark Lindsey was a great front man. They were as good as anyone in person.
The more I hang out here the more people I find with Sacramento roots. When I was growing up I thought everybody’s hometown had a Memorial Auditorium where the Harlem Globetrotters might play, or a circus perform…
