#ObamaCare — designed to fail [Darleen Click]

Feature, not bug. Panic, then stampede people, into single-payer Government medicine.

And the Obama administration engages in a “Sorry, we really meant …” backpeddling:

The U.S. government on Wednesday scaled back its projections for Obamacare’s impact in 2014, saying the law would generate slower healthcare spending growth and provide coverage to only half as many of America’s uninsured as anticipated last year. […]

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services now expects 11 million uninsured Americans to obtain coverage next year, down from about 22 million projected a year ago, according to the report, which appeared in the journal Health Affairs. It said healthcare spending would rise 6.1 percent in 2014, partly due to the implementation of Obamacare, compared with a previous projection of an increase of 7.4 percent.

As seen in today’s Denver Post, Letters to the Editor:

I support the original Obamacare. I oppose the current Obamacare, and I hope the Republicans have the guts to shut the government down and keep it shut down until the original Obamacare is re-installed. I mean no waivers, no exceptions, no exemptions.

The foundation of national health insurance is that everybody pays in. Everybody! The numbers work when everybody is paying health care premiums into one system. There should be nobody, no industry, no union or no congressional workers receiving privileged exemptions from Obamacare.

If not, I hope Obamacare fails — spectacularly.

“Banana republic” is an American coinage — by O. Henry, a century ago, for a series of stories set in the fictional tropical polity of Anchuria. But a banana republic doesn’t happen overnight; it’s a sensibility, and it’s difficult to mark the precise point at which a free society decays into something less respectable. Pace Obama, ever swelling debt, contracts for cronies, a self-enriching bureaucracy, a shrinking middle class preyed on by corrupt tax collectors, and thuggish threats against anyone who disagrees with you put you pretty far down the banana-strewn path.

It’s difficult to say “DisasterCare! Failing right on schedule!”, if only because it’s difficult to believe the “plan” has a schedule! Evidence? Well hell, it’s constantly amended by executive fiat on the fly.
