A propaganda campaign organized by hucksters to take away the kind of natural right that would-be tyrants most fear, one that has always led to an increase in violent crimes, particularly in those urban areas where restrictions on rights are maximized, minorities are most adversely affected, and the law abiding majority is left as easy prey for the unscrupulous, opportunistic, and just place vicious and evil?
Why, that could never happen here! Right?
Gun control advocates who propose gun bans and cumbersome restrictions and registration are most active within the progressive movement. And as such, it has been revealed today that such groups use a common playbook that spells out exactly which words to use, terms to promote, and words and phrases to avoid.
All of this, of course, is designed to keep the gun ban freaks on message all across the country no matter which group to which they happen to belong.
Seattle Gun Rights Examiner Dave Workman has discovered such a playbook and revealed its contents on the Examiner today.
The book, titled “Preventing Gun Violence Through Effective Messaging,” is a 80-plus page guide developed by a consultant firm in Washington, D.C. One of the primary goals is to divide the gun rights community, particularly the NRA, given that gun control groups invariably identify the NRA has the great, national bogeyman.
The consultant firm, Greenberg Quinlan Rosner (GQR) has developed PR campaigns for other leftwing groups such as Planned Parenthood, National Public Radio, the Joyce Foundation, and NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
GQR advises gun control groups that in order to be effective in making progress toward their stated goal of restricting gun rights and enacting gun bans, they must use specific terms to counter Stand Your Ground self-defense laws, such as “Shoot First” laws or “Kill at Will” legislation. The objective is to tar and feather sensible self-defense by using such derogatory language every chance they get. And indeed, these phrases have been used repeatedly by Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and others on the front lines of the gun ban movement.
The firm also advises that gun control advocates avoid using the term “duty to retreat” in support of their position, due to the fact that the term is viewed negatively by the public, not to mention that the Supreme Court and lower courts have ruled over a long period of years that citizens have no duty to retreat if their lives are immediately threatened.

Here’s a little game that may or may not prove amusing. Before reading the pdf, imagine some of the language, tropes, half-truths, misleading statistics, and moral preening that a group that specializes in crafting the narrative for left-wing tyrannical causes might employ in a “playbook” that gets passed around the progressive’s messaging parrots like a meth-addled biker chick at Sturgis, or a teenage girl during a Bob Menendez “work” junket.
Then be prepared to surprise even yourselves by how much more crass, opportunistic, and manipulative these assholes are prepared to be.
It’s a lesson in language, how it’s used in politics, and all that “fundamentally unserious stuff” that I sometimes blather on about, clown nose on, clown nose off.
Which is a lesson we refuse to learn.
More’s the pity.

The facts, the statistics, the history and the Constitution all prove gun grabbers don’t have a leg to stand on, yet we still keep hearing the same old tropes dragged out, time after time…
“well-regulated militia”
“what do you have to hide?”
“personal nuclear weapons”
“technology changes too much”
yadda, yadda, yadda.
Molon Labe, f*ckers.
aside from any other pro-gun argument, one thing that will always be true is that they are gadgets and guys and many gals like cool gadgets. Good luck trying to market against that.
Oh, I forgot “you have to compromise”. Just like they are willing to compromise on gay marriage or abortion. (Except for the point that the Constitution actually mentions guns.)
So since being republican is all about compromise, let’s compromise on supporting and electing republicans. Compromise with the democrats I mean. They even SAY that want to run against tea party candidates so let’s do it for them. Sorry McCain. We’re thinking of compromising your senate seat and legacy away. Also, please tell your appalling quasi-e-celerity daughter who whines about how she’s going to maybe quit being a republican because of the meanness, to either shit or get off the pot. I’m bored with her. Tell her to pick a damned state of being and stop being a probability field.
I always though “compromise” is where both people have the same goals and “compromise” on the means to get there.
It is not I want to burn down your house and you want to keep it intact and to compromise I get to burn up your kitchen.
It would be interesting to do a search on some of these phrases to see how often they were used by the media. Especially MSNBC and the NYC.
The Left seems to have replaced rights and freedoms to childish, unrealistic demands like this: “People’s right to be free from violence in their communities”
Whaaaaaaa? I guess this can be found in the Bill of Rights somewhere near the right to medical care and late-term abortions.
The main theme, though they are not as smuuve nor as well dressed.

The bikers at Sturgis have more class and are more honest than progressives.
The smarmy bastiches @GQRResearch:
Al Quinlan, President of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research, a sometimes blogger at the Huffington Post, where you’ll find his slobbery lips all over Chris Dodd’s flaccid member.
@StanGreenberg, the CEO of GQRR, another fine far-Left ‘Progressive’ who’s spent quality time at Harvard, and so couches his radicalism with a ‘hands-off but in control’ style. Don’t be fooled by this wanker; he co-founded @DemCorps (no matter how many times he styles it so, “Democracy Corps” is NOT independent, you damned liars) with James Carville and Bob Shrum. And is married to Rosa DeLauro, a “Communist Party USA connected Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives, representing the 3rd District of Connecticut”.
@Anna_Greenberg, Sr VP of GQRR (and founder of @GQUDigital, seemingly failing given it’s sporadic (digital) tweeting), is a practiced KOStard. ‘Nuff said. Oh, Anna is brother to Jonathan Greenberg, owner & chef of Roscoe’s Pizza in Crown Heights, Brooklyn; is daughter to Stanley Greenberg and Rosa DeLauro, (D – Conneticut). Runs deep in this family, does Liberal Fascism.
Yes, if 300 million plus Citizens and 800,000 cops have a few conflicts, then the rights of the 300 million must be curtailed to accommodate the 800,000. I wanna be a Canadian Idiot…
[…] Jeff Goldstein at Protein Wisdom has discovered their playbook, and shares it at his place. Jeff makes the point that it is all about the language. Yes it is, and we better start understanding that or we will lose all our rights. […]

This link does not work, can you fix it?
can you fix it?
It worked yesterday, so we should probably assume the object has been removed. So no. There wouldn’t be any fixing.
Try this one.
People need to stop thinking there’s such a thing as a permanent compromise. All compromise is temporary, nothing is settled or finished, everything is revisited… and usually in the dumbest, most counterproductive fashion.
We also need to stop trying to compromise on their anti-freedom measures – we need to work on being those who say “no” the loudest and the longest.
It won’t make them stop, but it seems the least damaging way to hold them off, if enough people do it.
Besides, people like to say no, once they get the habit.
This needs some music.
