Can’t anybody here play this game, #659?

The last thing you want to do, Obama, is anger senior Republican leadership:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is calling on the Obama administration to conduct a government-wide probe in the wake of an admission by the Internal Revenue Service that it targeted conservative groups.

[…]

McConnell says the admission is proof that his earlier concerns were well founded, adding the White House needs to review the agency’s actions.

“Now more than ever we need to send a clear message to the Obama administration that the First Amendment is non-negotiable, and that apologies after an election year are not an sufficient response to what we now know took place at the IRS,” he says. “This kind of political thuggery has absolutely no place in our politics.”

And the way we’ll do that is strongly worded calls for the perpetrators to investigate those working on their behalf — then, if necessary, punish them for their loyalty.  With severity!

So.  Take that, scoundrels.  We demand show trials!  And the heads of flunkies!  Which means you either agree to investigate what is essentially yourselves, else Mitch will be forced to  thrash you once more with his strongly worded words.

And that’s a nightmare you don’t wish to revisit, let me assure you.

I SAID GOOD DAY, GENTLEMEN!

Perhaps some brave soul could defund the IRS Medical Corps until such time as they can prove they’re capable of handling the duties they already have.

I think we’re on the same page, and likely the same paragraph, with respect to guys like McConnell.

GOP representatives like him are beyond useless to us. They are in many ways worse than those who would do nothing.

That reminds me of what Labour deputy leader Denis Healey said of being questioned by Tory Geoffrey Howe, “Like being savaged by a dead sheep”.

Uh oh … even the BBC (yes that BBC) is grudgingly admitting there is some there there.

In the interests of full disclosure I have to say I have not in the past been persuaded that allegations of a cover-up were a big deal. It seemed to me a partisan attack based on very little.

I remember listening to reports from the BBC and others at the time that did suggest the attack in Benghazi was a spontaneous reaction to a rather puerile anti-Islamic video.

I understand President Barack Obama’s careful use of the word “terrorism” when it actually means something, rather than as a knee-jerk description of any violence by foreigners against Americans, often in order to justify a “war on terror”.

But the evidence is there in black and white, unless we doubt the documents obtained by ABC, which I don’t.

Yeah, but when even leftist sacks of shit are publicly proclaiming their shock!! SHOCK!! at finding gambling going on Obama & Company lied in order to be re-elected [..with a few sobs thrown Hillary’s way] it looks like finally the shit is hitting the fan.

“One document in particular especially delighted us. It was a report from the ambassador to Moscow. The Grenadans had been begging for agricultural aid from the Kremlin, but it never came. Finally, at a diplomatic reception, the ambassador was approached by his Bulgarian counterpart, who said (these are not his exact words) “you’ve been asking our Soviet comrades for help with agriculture. But they have found that their methods do not work well in your part of the world. Thus whatever assistance you receive will fail. Thus you will receive that assistance from Bulgaria, and not from our Soviet comrades. That way, we will be blamed for the failure.”

I expect some more reluctant, hesitant, alternative possibility columns from our Washington correspondent. A complete repudiation of his lying leftist ways is beyond the bounds of possibility.

“The IRS denies having conducted a partisan witch-hunt against tea-party groups in the run-up to the 2012 election, arguing that its improper targeting of conservative groups was the result of a series of procedural errors rather than a political attack with malice aforethought.

But the IRS is keeping the relevant evidence secret, so you will just have to take the agency’s word for it.”

Yeah, what did they do with all of that illegally obtained donor list data? Did the big donors get audited, too? Did any other govt. agencies use those donor lists for other projects, say, surveillance, etc.?

I seem to have missed why the IRS is admitting this – did they get caught red-handed on video or something? The Obama admin never admits it’s made a mistake, so why the announcement & “apology”.

  13. They’re admitting it on the assumption — probably correct — that nothing of consequence will result from the admission, so they can do it again in future election years.

And if Democrats ever lose the White House and Republicans do payback, the Democrats know this admission neutralizes any hypocrisy charge against them for complaining.

The FIRE: “The government has mandated speech codes on all campuses”

The letter states that “sexual harassment should be more broadly defined as ‘any unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature’” including “verbal conduct” (that is, speech). It then explicitly states that allegedly harassing expression need not even be offensive to an “objectively reasonable person of the same gender in the same situation”—if the listener takes offense to sexually related speech for any reason, no matter how irrationally or unreasonably, the speaker may be punished.

I could swear I’ve heard someone discuss this sort of thing at great length. Orwell, maybe?
