“USA TODAY Poll: Public support for gun control ebbs”

But remember, you aren’t “allowed” to suggest that the 24/7 cable news fixation on the terrorist manhunt in Boston — coupled with a militarized police presence in the streets while citizens were strongly urged to hole up inside their homes, having first been stripped of many of their gun rights over the years —  has potentially caused many anti-gun advocates to silently rethink their positions.

Because that is a perfidious example of politicizing tragic events in Boston, and we know that such a thing is OUTRAGEOUS!  And if you don’t believe me, I can point you to several Sandy Hook parents who will step in front of any number of anti-second amendment politicians and, through their tears, tell you just that.

Having absolute moral authority and all.

Insty linked a photo series this morning, photos taken from a window just above the murderers as they shot it out with the police up the street in Watertown: thought, damn shame that camera wasn’t an AR-15 or the like.

Another apropos piece, also by way of Glenn Reynolds.

I realized … that if I were holed up in my house while a cold-blooded terrorist roamed my neighborhood, I wouldn’t want to be a sitting duck with only a deadbolt lock between me and an armed intruder. There are not enough police and they cannot come to my rescue quickly enough. They carry guns to protect themselves, not me.
