I don’t think he could stop lying even if he tried

Obama tells SF crowd that the Sandy Hook shooter used a “fully automatic weapon.”:

Now, over the next couple of months, we’ve got a couple of issues: gun control. (Applause.) I just came from Denver, where the issue of gun violence is something that has haunted families for way too long, and it is possible for us to create common-sense gun safety measures that respect the traditions of gun ownership in this country and hunters and sportsmen, but also make sure that we don’t have another 20 children in a classroom gunned down by a semiautomatic weapon — by a fully automatic weapon in that case, sadly.

Take a screencap now.  Because I’m sure that particular lie will of necessity later be airbrushed out of history.  And why not?    What’s a little misinformation today if tomorrow what you create from it is social justice, safe children, egalitarianism, and a society where unicorns dance in fields of QE money, while behind them newly-minted US citizens pick the lettuce and melons that lazy-ass racist Americans just won’t pick…

Pathological liars can’t tell the difference between lying and not lying. Ask them what they had for breakfast and they’ll tell you what they want you to think they had, not what they actually had.

Some pathological liars get into the habit because their self-worth is so low they figure they have to embellish reality to prevent their breathing privileges from being taken away.

Others lie because they’re insatiable power-grabbers, and lying gets them what they want.

Besides, lying is useful for fun and profit. Just study Jeremy Bentham.

  3. DarthLevin says:

    That crazy TOTUS…

  4. LBascom says:

Di, Obama is no Pathological liar.

    Think “Taqiyya”…

  5. Squid says:

Oh, great. Now we’ll be treated to four hours of happy talking about how awesome the fish taqiyyas are at his favorite pretentious food truck…

  6. Jim in KC says:

Well, not to worry. Once the high capacity assault magazines all run out of bullets, those automatic weapons will be worthless, anyway. People will just toss ’em in the trash.

  7. ironpacker says:

A lie works the same as the truth if people believe it.

  8. If one were generous, one could conclude that POTUS is merely pig-ignorant.

For some reason, I’m not feeling particularly generous this afternoon, so I’m going with liar.

Until it doesn’t, then watch out.

  10. bgbear says:

the president is just a little confused because Lanza had a Bushmaster while the real shooter used a fully automatic rifle.

  11. All the news coverage of Sandy Hook, and not one network dared show footage of the grassy knoll.

  12. leigh says:

Like McGehee and bgbear, I suspect a cover up at Sandy Hook.

No phone camera footage? Totally a give away.

  13. beemoe says:

Why do people keep sending their kids to public schools?

  14. bgbear says:

I hope they are not smart enough to put together a conspiracy like that.

  15. dicentra says:

Can’t leave the kids loose at home while you’re at work.

Lock em out, like my folks did. :-)

You’d probably get arrested for child abuse if you did that nowadays….

  17. Scott Hinckley says:

I didn’t see his speech – I just went to the link and started reading. Every single paragraph (that wasn’t standard politician boilerplate – Hi. Glad to be here. etc.) was either misleading or had an outright lie. Every last one.

  18. You’d probably get arrested for child abuse if you did that nowadays….

Yet sending them to a shooting gallery government-school “gun-free zone” is not only perfectly okay, but encouraged.

  19. geoffb says:

None of them can tell the truth about even documented things.

  20. geoffb says:

And I know his defense will be that was the “May 19th Communist Organization” not the “Weather Underground.”

  21. cranky-d says:

Obama could stand in the middle of a rainstorm and claim the sun was shining, and the lapdog media wouldn’t say a word about it.

And with the Feds in charge of education, the people will always be ill-equipped enough to believe it.

Zero tolerance (gun=drawing=pop-tart=hand) in schools is done for a reason: perpetuate ignorance, aversion, and fear of guns amongst children, and make them receptive little vessels for gun grabbing schemes down the road.

Sure this gun wasn’t “fully automatic”, but these kids have been raised on “guns” that weren’t even guns.

I think the primary reason is to protect the adults and the institution from the consequences of having to make real-world adult decisions. So naturally you get child-like magical thinking about doodles and breakfast food and kids at play.

I hate to break it to ya, but most people go into teaching for the benefits—to themselves—not because they lurve teaching or the chirrun.

  25. Squid says:

I dunno, Leigh. A lot of them flunk out of the real majors, and realize that if they’re to get a degree at all, it’s going to have to be in Education.

To paraphrase P.J. O’Rourke: anyone who doesn’t know what’s wrong with public education obviously never slept with an elementary ed major.

  26. leigh says:

Of course, Squid. Those other majors require MATH.

As my dear old dad always says, “Those who can: do. Those who can’t: teach. Those who can’t teach: teach gym.”

I heard from the frat boys that chicks who were Ed majors were as easy as waitresses. I didn’t ask for details, but apparently they don’t even feign token resistance or even play hard to get.

  27. Squid says:

In my day, we called them the sorority sisters of Sigma Tau Delta.

  28. leigh says:

    Tri Delts, in my day.

  29. Squid says:

A lot of ’em were Tri Delts, but lumping all of them into STD just made things easier.

  30. leigh says:

    Heh. Quite.

  31. As my dear old dad always says, “Those who can: do. Those who can’t: teach. Those who can’t teach: teach gym.”

The way I heard it was, “those who can’t teach, teach teachers.”

    – To be fair, every time Bumblefuck slips up and starts to tell the truth about any thing, or accidently lifts the veil of total Progressive bullshit, his moonbats and under achievers go ballistic.

    – Case in point; this weeks admissions about raising taxes. All the brain dead nimrods care about is someone is talking about taking away some of the free shit.

    – When this train wreck crashes its going to be Armageddon proportions of nasty.
