Representative government? Posh. Morse knows more than any of the dullards who haven’t had the good sense to make a career out of politics. And honestly, why should it be all about “the people?” I mean, if they were so capable of making wise policy decisions, surely they wouldn’t have planted him in office, right?
They fucked up. They trusted him!
— is about the gist of it. Though he frames himself as Lincolnesque for having had the courage to ignore the racket being raised by the little serfs. And Morse, I should note, was the deciding vote on both the “high-capacity” magazine ban, and the defeat of an amendment to that bill that would have delayed passage until the 51 studies detailing the effects of previous such laws, either nationally or in other states, were reviewed, and a bill then crafted to comport with the evidence from those studies.
Of course, those studies — having shown that magazine capacity bans don’t lower crime rates — need to be ignored. Like Colorado constituents. Because the Democrats had the numbers, and to them, it’s all about power and reaching the end game. They were willing to sacrifice their state sovereignty and ignore the demands of voters that their rights be respected — all to work with Biden, Obama, and Bloomberg to turn Colorado into a western nanny state.
I love it when the masks come off so completely.
Arrogant, self-righteous, self-aggrandizing douche. If this doesn’t teach the people of Colorado that voting for Democrats is voting to have a bunch of ideologues walk lockstep toward the abridgment of any of rights they don’t particularly understand and happen to find vulgar, nothing will.
Recall efforts are underway, but the damage is already done: businesses and jobs will move from Colorado, and the state’s tourism industry, which wasn’t just tied to skiing, will be hit particularly hard, as Colorado was a destination state for hunters and sportsman who will now gravitate to Wyoming or New Mexico or Utah.
Wake up, America. Colorado was once a cowboy state, filled with rugged individualism. But we let the locusts in. And they did what it is locusts do: infest the fertile ground, take it over, and then destroy it before moving on.
Consider us an objective correlative and a cautionary tale. And then do what you have to do to avoid a similar fate.

Lincoln didn’t worry about the opinion pages of hostile newspapers because he had those newspaper editors locked up!
Beware any politician comparing himself to Lincoln. While it may be true that he craves Lincoln’s image and whitewashed reputation, what he really wants is Lincoln’s unbridled power.
prevent his sorry ass from ever occupying an office of public trust.
FTFY.
Small difference between ignoring an op-ed, and ignoring the electorate. Which a real interviewer with journalistic integrity might have pointed out. Oh, yes, silly me.
I dislike him more than MadCow.
As bad as ignoring constituents is ignoring the necessary argument over the Second Amendment, since he seems to commit to never have that argument again. He’s reached his conclusion and he’ll be damned if he’ll think about it again. He’s says he’s right (and won’t he be surprised when a review court tells him he’s not right), and by God he’ll act on his presumption come what may. Morse may as well declare “I’m loathsome, and because I’m loathsome I refuse to do the job I’ve sworn to do.”
John Morse used to be a piggy piggy pension whore cop piece of shit
that whole profession is like a magnet for wannabe fascists
it was a big red flag but he got elected anyway
This bears repeating here.
The removal of firearms from private hands is one of the tenets of the religion of progressive-socialism.
I consider their ideology/religion to be “a sickness”, a madness, which must be cleansed, at the very least, from this nation.

I don’t need to see it purged from the body politic. I will, however, demand that they follow the example of those who came before them. Prohibition and income tax did not come from Executive Orders or the like; they came about through proper (though misguided) Constitutional Amendment processes.
If Morse & Co. want to take away everyone’s firearms, they can damn well repeal the Second Amendment. Short of that, I see no need for any of us to listen, nor to comply.
Seems like Senator Morse is endorsing a variant of the “one man, one vote, one time” paradigm.
The poor man – it weared on his soul.
Squid is exactly right. Unless the Second Amendment is repealed, this petty tyrant wannabe and his ilk can pound sand.
I would call Morse sanctimonious, but I don’t like using a five dollar word to describe a two-bit asshole.
There was a time when people like Morse wouldn’t have dared to say this kind of crap, because it would have insured a one on one dance with a rail, tar and feathers.
