Quick takes [Darleen Click]

Thomas Sowell Shepherds and Sheep

One of the key differences between mistakes that we make in our own lives and mistakes made by governments is that bad consequences force us to correct our own mistakes. But government officials cannot admit to making a mistake without jeopardizing their whole careers.

Can you imagine a President of the United States saying to the mothers of America, “I am sorry your sons were killed in a war I never should have gotten us into”?

What is even more relevant to Professor Sunstein’s desire to have our betters tell us how to live our lives, is that so many oppressive and even catastrophic government policies were cheered on by the intelligentsia.

Obama apparatchik, Gene Sperling, last seen offering friendly advice to Bob Woodward that he’d “regret” telling people that the sequester was the White House’s proposal, now admits, by golly, it WAS a White House proposal.

Flying Pig moment from AP

With Washington gridlocked again over whether to raise their taxes, it turns out wealthy families already are paying some of their biggest federal tax bills in decades even as the rest of the population continues to pay at historically low rates.

President Barack Obama and Democratic leaders in Congress say the wealthy must pay their fair share (sic) if the federal government is ever going to fix its finances and reduce the budget deficit to a manageable level.

A new analysis, however, shows that average tax bills for high-income families rarely have been higher since the Congressional Budget Office began tracking the data in 1979. Middle- and low-income families aren’t paying as much as they used to.

For 2013, families with incomes in the top 20 percent of the nation will pay an average of 27.2 percent of their income in federal taxes, according to projections by the Tax Policy Center, a research organization based in Washington. The top 1 percent of households, those with incomes averaging $1.4 million, will pay an average of 35.5 percent.

Those tax rates, which include income, payroll, corporate and estate taxes, are among the highest since 1979.

Which White House lackey will be on the phone shouting obscenities at AP that they fire writer Stephen Ohlemacher?

What a smile! And so cute!

  2. leigh says:

Darleen, did you save any of Number 1’s baby things to pass on? So sweet!

Just because they’re higher doesn’t mean they’re FAIRERERER. (sorry, got stuck)

One of the true reasons for out of control spending and government worker nonsense; they never pay for their stupidity.

In fact they mostly are never identified so that action of any sort can be applied by the citizen.

Notice when something bad happens it’s “DC” this or “the government” that.

When something happens they think is good, it’s “Obama” this and “the President” that.

It was fun to “peep” in and see the secret life of baby in utero. As a mom, we can feel their gymnastics, but to watch Rowan smile, stick out her tongue, grab her own foot & other things was just beyond anything I ever imagined during my pregnancy of her mom some 34 years ago.

  6. leigh says:

Yay! That will be so cute.

Since I have all boys, I only have Christening gowns and baby shoes and blankets saved. There was no sense in saving worn out overalls and beat up sneakers. I did save all their books and e-vil pop guns for my future grandsons. I certainly hope I have an understanding DIL. ; )

    that ultrasound?

Sure looks like an undefined tissue mass to me.

Wish the kid had a better looking future.

Time will tell. All the luck to you kid.

What else can a human baby do 3 months prior to birth, besides being aborted by a Democrat ?

    Even NPR is noticing…

After first lady Michelle Obama appeared on the Oscars, just a couple of days after dancing with Jimmy Fallon in a performance that went viral, even fans of the Obamas thought there could be a chance that familiarity could breed disquiet, if not contempt.

Baby Rowan needs some Lamaze toys. They are all red, white and black, which are the color/shades that baby’s brain sees best. I believe there are some soft books to go with the soft toys.

Those and a CD of “Mozart Makes You Smarter” to listen to at naptime. Listening to classical music helps us learn math much more easily.

“I had a young reporter asking tough, important questions of an Obama Cabinet secretary,” says one DC veteran. “She was doing her job, and they were trying to bully her. In an e-mail, they called her the vilest names — bitch, c–t, a–hole.” He complained and was told the matter would be investigated: “They were hemming and hawing, saying, ‘We’ll look into it.’ Nothing happened.”

Congratulations Darleen, best wishes to Rowan & mom.

The electric rodent apparently finds this too “lifeydoodle pr0n” for his tastes.

More seriously, congrats! We haven’t had the opportunity to have the 4-D–which sure ended up as a beautiful picture here.
