Quick Takes [Darleen Click]

William Jacobson covers Fauxahontas’ practicing law in MA without a license.

Can kids survive another four years of Michelle Obama? I’m sure somewhere some nascent entrepreneur kids are out to corner the school black market in chocolate syrup and Doritos. They are starting with the We are Hungry videos.

Hillary, who still won’t answer questions about the slaughter in Benghazi, is having her “SQUIRREL” moment by pushing for a global tax on elites

“There are rich people everywhere. And yet they do not contribute to the growth of their own countries.”

The secretary of state suggested that the rich around the world do not give back to their communities. “They don’t invest in public schools, in public hospitals, in other kinds of development internally.”

Note the word “public” in her mendoucheous screed. Only money funneled through Big Government is legitimate, please ignore all the college wings, medical charities, private schools, scholarships that are funded by nasty, filthy rich people. And, of course, ignore what the world would look like without ever hearing of Steve Jobs or Bill Gates or …

Victor Davis Hansen on President Ethelred.

Forced “charity” is theft. Hillary and her ilk simply prefer to give others’ money rather than their own.

Barry has nothing on Shrillary when it comes to being a good Alinsky disciple.

Of course they are! “Unexpectedly”, no doubt.

    I don’t care about this.

The Packers wuz robbed, I tell ya! Let’s settle this strike before the fans settle it for them.

  5. Slartibartfast says:

It’ll be interesting, how that whole illegal practice of law thing pans out. It’s almost as if Warren actually has this sense of entitlement that our friends on the left insist is endemic to corporate officers, the indolent rich, etc.

    Parity!

  6. StrangernFiction says:

If we had an opposition party they would mock the ‘rats incessantly for statements like this one regarding a global tax. There is no defense for inanity like that. The SRM can’t turn stupid like that around, they just can’t. The more it gets discussed, regardless of the spin, the better for our cause, the cause of liberty, and supposedly the cause of the GOP and the Romney campaign. But, alas……………………….. and down the memory hole it will go.

  7. Libby says:

Ignoring the whole part about how taxes pay for these things, can someone in the media please ask Hillary how much she, Bill, and Chelsea donate to public schools, public hospitals and other internal development? Last I heard they have become quite the little money-makers post presidency. And wouldn’t the Clinton Global Initiative be a great vehicle for directing the richy-rich peoples’ money to these worthy public institutions?

  8. Squid says:

…can someone in the media please ask Hillary how much she, Bill, and Chelsea donate to public schools, public hospitals and other internal development?

C’mon, Libby — you know darn well that It Takes A Village to do that sort of thing. And by “a village,” you know darn well that means Somebody Else.

What’s important is that they mean well. That’s really the only thing that matters. All this focus on results just makes you look like a cranky conservative what hates children and poor people.

  9. John Bradley says:

Sure hope no one here was planning on “slandering the prophet of Islam” or anything. According to our dear president, “the future must not belong” to those sorts.

And correct me if I’m wrong, but saying “the future must not belong to” group ‘A’ would seem to imply that group ‘A’ has no future (or at least, cannot be allowed to have one), and well… read that as you will.

  10. leigh says:

This is a pretty good read about the normalization of bad behaviors.

The question is whether calling him a psychopathic pedophile (Piss Be Upon Him) qualifies as slander. If so, then yes, I do.

    – I’m going to have to side with Leigh on this mornings “quick takes”, in spirit if not agreement at least.

    – Bummblefucks on parade: The Wonce tripled down today in his determination to be loved by the animals in the West with his “all star apologies” for the shameful American show of Western vakues in his UN address to the entire world. But wait, theres more. Just to make sure he drove the knife all the way into the hilt he went on that class act political analysis round table of leading journalistic experts to display the most enpty suited isulting display of “Jersy shore” culture inanity since Jimmy Carters rein of idiocy. There are no words for what this total jackass is doing to the countries reputation, but I’m sure all the commies over at MSNBC were peeing themslves with delight. Fuck…..just fuck.

    – The NFL. I have to respectfully disagree with the narrative being spurred on by the piss ant media. I watched the videos of the “catch”, and as best as can be seen it appears that the Pacher defenders were simply victimes of bad luck, not bad officiating. If you look closely it appears that the two defenders had the reciever nore or less smoothered down beneathe them as they all jumped for the ball. The ball seems to hit the arm of one of the defenders and squirt down straight into the arms of the reciever. The one defender then tries to snake his hands around the ball as they all fall to the ground in a geap. The referee arrives and looks down and see’s the ball cluched in the arms of the reciever with the two defenders trying to jerk the ball away. Over the decades I’ve seen this many times and they always award the catch to the offensive player if he’s cradling the ball to his chest with the defenders trying to rip it away.

    – What I’ll say is that all the coaches and the players as well are trying to make the most of this situation concerning the substitute refereeing. Belichek was wrong with his aggression towards the Ref in his game. His comments after the game showed it. He still misstated the Feikd goal rules even as he was apoligizing for his stupid behavior.

    – Its all about the bottom line in the NFL these days and the coaches and teams will try too gain any advantage they can because if you don’t win you’ll be out the door in quick order.

    – There is no doubt that there have been some missed calls, but there are always missed calls, even with the ist line regs in the game. The problem is the weak leadership in the NFL and the greed driving everything these days. So anything that can be leaned on to maximum effect will be.

    – The field goal was good. The reception was good.

    – But because of several missed calls during the games, the teams are all going to jump on that if theres any chance they can sway the outcome. Not a damn thing has changed really, just more opportunity to bitch.

    – I’ve been watching this bullshit since the 40’s. Its just as its always been. Some days you win, some days you lose.

  13. leigh says:

BBH, I was furious at the Wonce’s speech at the UN.

“We’re all about free speech here in the USA, but we’re cool with countries that aren’t. Plus, it’s that stupid video’s fault.” (I paraphrase.)

    The hell?

Romney was good this morning though. Clinton made nice with him and he made nice back.

Romney is trying to use the American narrative of generosity and freedom. Obama is all about the blaming and equivelancy.

Re: Football. There isn’t a season that goes by that doesn’t have it’s share of fishy calls. This season has been a doozy, though. I am pleased at the idea of Belichick possibly getting fined for grabbing an official. My teams all suck, so I’m not really invested this year.

  14. BigBangHunter says:

    – What?….you don’t feel a tingle up your leg when Whoppie, Joy blowhard, and Bahbwa analyze the political scene. Sheese, theres just no pleasing some people.

    – Yes, its true, theres been a bit higher bad calls this year, mostly in the form of sloppy game control on the field. But with the Cheatriots you could see it from the very start of the game. They knew they were in for a tough game and they wanted to put the newbie refs back on their heels and keep them there. If they can stampede the refs then they might get a few breaks. Its an old game thats been going on since feetsball was invented.

    – Belichic should be sent to the locker room if he so much as sets foot on the field. Once or twice of that and some of the crap would stop. NE is a tough place to coach, any North Eastern team is. The game is about all you’ve got going in the winter months, and they really take their games to heart, but in his case theres a lot of rumors floating about his job, so you see it in his on field behavior. The Ref situation is just another oppotunity to try to game the conditions.

    – The press of course, will play it up for all its worth. Sells papers and online hits, and puts asses in the seats. Oh yes it will, because people love to come to games and boo the refs.

  15. leigh says:

If I were one of these rent-a-refs, I’d call in sick the day we had to call a game for the Iggles. Philly fans are the worst; falling out of the stands, running onto the field, throwing things, beating the crap out of people supporting the opposing team, etc.

  16. Pablo says:

Even the NFL admits that there was a blown offensive pass interference call on the play. But that’s not reviewable. Despite being both blatant and missed.

  17. leigh says:

It certainly looked like pass interference to me.

  18. Squid says:

I’d like to see Green Bay (if not every team) sit out ’til the strike is resolved. Hold a press conference and say “Team management and the people of Green Bay will not jeopardize the health and safety of our players until such time as the League reasserts control on the field. If this means that we forfeit games, we will consider them additional losses caused by poor officiating. At least we won’t be risking our players in this charade.”

I feel somewhat sympathetic to the replacement refs, who are obviously in over their heads. It’s pretty clear that after the first week, every team in the league studied the films to see just how much they could get away with. I doubt anybody from the NFL has spent as much effort identifying weaknesses and developing countermeasures. It’s only going to get worse, until such time as the strike is resolved, or the replacements are given the authority (and the official backing) to throw out every player who decides to test the limits.

The League needs to understand that players are going to wind up in the locker room one way or the other. Better that they should be there for disciplinary reasons than for career-threatening injuries.

  19. sdferr says:

“I’d like to see Green Bay (if not every team) sit out ’til the strike is resolved.”

The political metaphor is fairly irresistible.

If we put the onus of action on the NFL teams, while the paying fans and advertisers continue to shovel money in the NFL door, it looks to me rather like the abandonment of the Constitution and Republican governance being responded to solely by the Republican party (as if!) declaring they’ll sit out any responsibility to repair the fault by removing themselves from the next election. Better, the people — both in the political context as well as in the athletic — can rise up en masse to deny the miscreants (hi Nanny P!) any reward.

  20. leigh says:

Brit Hume sent out a tweet (I don’t tweet, I read it elsewhere) last night :

“Replacement refs doing the best they can. That’s the problem. Sort of like President Obama.”

  21. Squid says:

    sdferr,

I see it more as an analogue of a sovereign body opting out of a union that no longer benefits it. For as long as the Strong Central Authority insists on abusing its constituent members with arbitrary and destructive abuse of power, what’s the incentive to stick around? Inertia only goes so far…

  22. sdferr says:

If I get that right then Squid, the team Green Bay could be in the analog the state Texas? I think I might like that better than mine.

If such state measures take hold (but these, of course, I assume driven by the demands of the true sovereigns, the citizens of the various states) among some number of states (as some number of teams, one team being insufficient to a resumption of play) then the carelessly discarded and defunct Union (the trademarked “NFL”, or as we hear it called today, “the Shield”) is gradually dissolved (to be replaced by another? why the heck not!) whereupon a return to the proper purpose of government can be begun.

  23. newrouter says:

Dependency is a two-way street. If you conclude that your liberty depends on theirs, you invite the attrition of your liberty to accommodate their demands. You are saying maybe we do not really need free speech anymore — after all, we’re dependent on your repressive sharia blasphemy standards, we need to compromise for the good of our interdependency.

Among the many awful aspects of the Obama presidency is the obsession to make the United States just another cog in the wheel, to bring us into line with a purportedly “interdependent” global order wherever our culture and traditions tell us we’ve got a better way. “Dependency at Home and Dependency Abroad” is not something Americans ought to aspire to.

  24. BigBangHunter says:

….is gradually dissolved (to be replaced by another?

    – What, are you nuts? Do you have any idea how much that would cost in new bumper stickers and autographed team jockstraps alone?

    – The cost of a 12 oz. halftime beer would go through the ceiling. The Manning brothers would have to take a 120 million dollar cut. Roger Goodell would have to give up Cuban cigars. Rivers would have to stop his incesent whining. The Chargers would have to hire a real NFL coach.

    …….

    …….

    – Say, you may be on to something there.

  25. leigh says:

Man, the Chargers. That was tough duty trying to be a Charger fan back in teh 80’s.

The upside was that I could stick a flat pint of rum in my purse and get through the turnstiles, go buy a coke and it was a good time. Even when we lost. Which was most of the time.

  26. Pablo says:

Just watched Occupy Unmasked (available everywhere on demand). It’s very good.

  27. BigBangHunter says:

    -….Make that 240 million….I forgot to multiply by 2.

    – Leigh, as long as the Bolts win their two season games against the Raiders the softie fans in SD are happy campers.

I had to read that a few times to make sure that it didn’t really say I could stick a flat pint of rum in my arse.

Need more caffeine. And probably a different childhood/adolescence.

Ran across this today. Never heard it before. Song from 1980 called “Government Cheese”

Give a man a free house and he’ll bust out the windows
Put his family on food stamps, now he’s a big spender
no food on the table and the bills ain’t paid
‘Cause he spent it on cigarettes and P.G.A.
They’ll turn us all into beggars ’cause they’re easier to please
They’re feeding our people that Government Cheese

Give a man a free lunch and he’ll figure out a way
To steal more than he can eat ’cause he doesn’t have to pay
Give a woman free kids and you’ll find them in the dirt
Learning how to carry on the family line of work
It’s the man in the White House, the man under the steeple
Passing out drugs to the American people
I don’t believe in anything, nothing is free
They’re feeding our people the Government Cheese

Decline and fall, fall down baby
Decline and fall, said fall way down now
Decline and fall, fall down little mama
Decline and fall, decline and fall

Give a man a free ticket on a dead end ride
And he’ll climb in the back even though nobody’s driving
Too fucking lazy to crawl out of the wreck
And he’ll rot there while he waits for the welfare check
Going to hell in a handbag, can’t you see
I ain’t gonna eat no Government Cheese
