“Anti-Islam Filmmaker Donated Million Dollars To Obama Campaign”

Yes, but he’s the good kind of anti-Islam filmmaker. The kind who gives big money to O! and who is presented as hip and edgy and anti-establishment, even as he consistently advocates for a bigger, more centralized government! Now shut up and stop asking questions.

Oh. And eat your fucking peas.

Which puts the left’s seers — surprise! — in a dilemma: How will their friends in the ME react to Maher? Should there be an unfortunate backlash to Maher’s filmmaking, surely that eventuality shall precondition how they see Bill.

And treat him from this moment in time on.

    I mean, right?

  2. Ernst Schreiber says:

Whose gonna dub/subtitle the last twenty minutes of Maher’s for muslim consumption?

  3. JHoward says:

Maybe Bill can fend off culpability by arranging to have Piss Christ #occupy his desk for a week. During it’s next world tour promoting that quiet, serious, contemplative, chin-rubbing tolerance the elites use to evince images of them rubbing their chins in that quiet, serious, contemplative, tolerance they’re known for. (Or that psychotic fanatics see as all the more reason to kill the west and then bring it to heel).

Then having dispensed with equality — the kind of which requires equal moral agency — it’s off to Manhattan’s finest eateries to laugh at the Xtianists and Xtianist origin theory over hundred and fifty dollar plates.

Yeah, but you’re acting like his movie was better funded or exposed or something.

This dude had a poorly dubbed YouTube video. It’s all anyone could talk about.

  5. Ernst Schreiber says:

Do we know yet who dubbed this poorly dubbed YouTube vid, or is that part of the ongoing investigation?

  6. William says:

Not sure, Ernst. But they’re probably Christian, so our Ameritopia morals are safe.

Here is how you can get Maher’s clip dubbed.

The Journal provides more about the way in which the film made its way from America to Egypt, citing Sadek as the key connection to making it happen:

The spark that elevated the video from the Internet’s backwater appears to have been provided by Morris Sadek, an Egyptian-American Coptic activist living in the Washington, D.C., area. Mr. Sadek has been an outspoken anti-Islamic activist in the U.S., where he runs a small group called the National American Coptic Assembly.

On Sept. 6, Mr. Sadek sent an email to journalists around the world promoting a Sept. 11 event held by Rev. Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who previously sparked deadly protests by burning a copy of the Quran. In the email, Mr. Sadek included a link to the 14-minute YouTube clip.

On Sept. 6, Sadek emailed journalists around the world, promoting Jones’ anti-Islamic event and including footage of “Innocence of Muslims,” according to The Wall Street Journal. A conservative TV host in Egypt broadcast the video on Sept. 8, sparking protests at the U.S. embassy in Cairo.

While RNS claims that Sadek may have translated the clip himself, the Journal reports that it may have been Egyptian journalists, themselves, who translated it. Originally, reports claimed that Sadek merely promoted the film, but now it seems he played a more integrated role in bringing it to the attention of media.

Now considering that Ann Barhhardt’s video was translated into Arabic by Coptic Christians in Egypt, posted to Youtube 17 months ago and has 667,571 views most from Egypt and the M.E. according to her then why is this one cause the uproar and not her’s?

It is because the uproar was manufactured by the leadership, governmental and religious, in the M.E. and what they used as the excuse was/is irrelevant. Like our left when they want outrage they will use anything or even a made up nothing as the excuse.

The cause is those leaders who need the outrage as cover for their own purposes not whatever thing at hand they grabbed to use.

  9. OCBill says:

And yet, strangely, according to Drudge, Al Qaeda is urging muslims to kill American diplomats and not American film makers. Maybe Jay Carney should explain to them one more time.

  10. @PurpAv says:

Rendering Mahar toxic/radioactive, and driven into hiding would be a win.

Since we’re already paying price for Islamic crazy, we might as well get some beneficial collateral damage out of it.

  11. John Bradley says:

geoff: I suspect that Barnhardt’s video contains (from the M.E. power-brokers perspective) some dangerous unpleasant truths, that if accurately translated and shown to the rabble could result in some people having a “y’know, that part of the Koran always sounded stupid to me, too!” moment.

Whereas some guy in a fakey beard saying “I’m Mohammed, and I sure like to have sex with 9 year olds. And goats!” is nice safe outrage to show the masses.
