Obama: “If you’ve got a business-you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.” [Darleen Click]

Another telling nugget from Barry that marks him as a full-fledged member of the coveting Left

There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.

Recall Cherokee Princess Elizabeth Warren attempted this dismissal of individual success earlier this year …

Warren rebuts the GOP-touted notion that raising taxes on the wealthy amounts to “class warfare,” contending that “there is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody.”

Scrape away all the “Progressive” huffing and puffing based on a premise no one has posited — “the concept that it is possible for Americans to become wealthy in isolation.” — and what you are really looking at is the “mama’s boy” relationship as venerated paradigm.

Government is Big Mama, who aggressively controls her offspring and consistently reminds him “I gave birth to you, you wouldn’t be here without me, YOU OWE EVERYTHING TO ME.”

The emotion-based Left is also psychologically twisted. The Left as Toxic Parent.

Who knew?

Perhaps I’m mistaken, but I hear also echoes of the end of the story of Job, only the pitifully inadequate progressive vision of society replaces the great God, creator of the Heavens and the Earth here.

  2. Danger says:

Hey Darleen the Grifter in Chief knows of what he speaks.
And of course we are all just itching to be like him so let’s just just drop this opposition charade and commence the coronation already;)

  3. BT says:

Equal opportunity does not equal equal outcome. So what else is new.

  4. Roug says:

I still have not figured out why those ultra rich folk who agree with Obama and desire to give some money back don’t just send in a check.

  5. Silver Whistle says:

AUDIENCE MEMBER: We love you, Obama!

THE PRESIDENT: I love you back.

    AVERAGE AMERICAN: I feel ill.

  6. McGehee says:

Well, I don’t love him. There are people I love, but I’ve never loved a President of the United States. Admire? Respect? Sure, in some cases. Love? No.

But if he loves me and insists on imposing his love on me, that’s grounds for a restraining order.

  7. leigh says:

I’m heartened that his venues keep shrinking. First it was community colleges, then high schools, then grade schools. Soon he’ll be doing stand up at the old folks home.

  8. McGehee says:

I expect to see him any time now, standing on a street corner holding a cardboard sign that says, “Will give speeches for campaign donations.”

  9. BigBangHunter says:

    – After some 58 years of lifelong working for a living in every sort of blue collar and professional enterprise I can hardly express my appreciation and joy in listening to the speeches , ideas, and just plain awesomeness of Anarchists, Bolshovists, Marxists, Communists, Socialists, Atheists, Pantheists, Antidisenstablismentists, and the entire gaggle of econoclastic misfits most of whom have never worked a fucking day in their entire lives…

    – Guess I’m just an intolerant raaaaaacist.

    – Oh and McGehee, I’ll volunteer to be your publisist when you write your memiors . You couuld call it:

“The Man with a face only an Idiot President could love”

  10. leigh says:

I’ve been working since I was 14 and have little patience with whiny bitches who think the world owes them a living.

  11. BigBangHunter says:

    – I’ve been reading the bio’s of some of the centries most prominent Antheists like Emma Goldmen and many others, trying to get inside their skulls and gain some sort of understanding of what makes these freaks of our species tick.

    – After just a few hours of reading their inspired bullshit, you can feel your brain cells dying, and have probably lost at leaast 50 IQ points.

  12. cranky-d says:

The infrastructure was built for everyone, by everyone. They took our money and made roads with it. That’s one of the few legitimate things a government should be doing.

  13. BigBangHunter says:

    – What I hear whenever Obama speaks….

“I love all you hard working people out there in America, and I want you to keep working hard so you can support all the others that have made a life study of avoiding hard work. I like to call it social justice. And to all you people who have been cheated out of your fair share by the greedy people who work so hard and suck up success like its a virtue, , I love you too, and I got your backs.” Foward!

  14. Abe Froman says:

Of course he feels the way he does about wealth creation, he hasn’t done a single thing on his own in his adult life.

  15. leigh says:

My 15 year old walked through the room the other day when Obama was blathering away and standing in front of his giant new slogan Forward! Little junior says to me “Forward? That’s a Communist slogan.” Out of the mouths of babes who read books about Patton…

BBH, you should read David Horowitz’ autobiography (that he wrote himself, btw) called “Radical Son.” It traces his life’s journey from Red diaper baby to one of our own. He knew all the players back in the day: Bill Ayers, Todd Gitlin, Huey Newton and others and pulls no punches about them or himself.

  16. Silver Whistle says:

I’ve got a different idea. I do believe we can cut — we’ve already made a trillion dollars’ worth of cuts. We can make some more cuts in programs that don’t work, and make government work more efficiently. (Applause.) Not every government program works the way it’s supposed to. And frankly, government can’t solve every problem. If somebody doesn’t want to be helped, government can’t always help them. Parents — we can put more money into schools, but if your kids don’t want to learn it’s hard to teach them. (Applause.)

Now that’s quality funny right there. No? Boy, you guys are a tough crowd.

  17. BigBangHunter says:

““there is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody.”

    – This is what the Left does so expertly, build a false premise off a true statement. Then they inflame class and race warfare off those false premises. They are lying seditionists in the truest sense of the word.

    – You begin to understand why Vigalantes and other communitee groups have dealt so harshly with them. They seek to destroy society, and then they look for sympathy when they get ravaged. True imbiciles,

  18. Abe Froman says:

Radical Son is a hard read. But it’s easier if you just chalk his mental health issues up to all the years he spent as a leftist.

  19. leigh says:

It’s a hard road to hoe when you decide to change your entire lifeview at the age of 45 or so. I read it from an historical perspective more than a navel-gazing tour-de-force. He needed a tougher editor, that’s for sure.

  20. BigBangHunter says:

    – To be fair Leigh, society doesn’t come out of this all tea and roses, not in the least.

    – Emma was a classic case of the “Daddy issues” you mentioned the other day. He was an authoritarian bastard, most probably due to repressed sexual problems stemming from a impotentcy and prudish unloving wife. He beat emma for all her transgressions, and those of her 5 siblings as well. Its easy to see how she spent the rest of her 70 years “striking back at daddy” in every minute of her life.

    – You have to wonder just how many wars and dead bodies are strewn through history because society refuses to deal directly and openly with mental illness.

  21. Merovign says:

That’s right, you didn’t build this on your own. You were carrying someone else on your back the whole time, probably a bureaucrat.

So if hard work and long hours don’t make you successful, it’s the government that provides “roads and teachers,” then why are so many people unsuccessful? Those guys must be awful at their jobs.

Oh, it gets better – you’re only successful because of the efforts of The All Powerful State, and if you’re not successful it’s YOUR fault.

Yeah, remind me again why we don’t fire every single blessed one of them for Terminal Arrogance with Other People’s Money?

A plurality of leeches, you say?

  22. McGehee says:

“The Man with a face only a Creepy Idiot President could love”

    FTFY.

  23. leigh says:

You have to wonder just how many wars and dead bodies are strewn through history because society refuses to deal directly and openly with mental illness.

Indeed. Part of the reason I refuse to get on the “We’re all gonna die!/We’re so fucked!” train is because regardless of how hopeless things may appear to us in the now, there is always tomorrow. Adversity breeds opportunity. Build a better lock and there will always be someone who spends the time to learn how to pick it. Our lives are richer, fuller, longer and better nourished than at any time in history. If people want to whine and bitch about this and that, they need to get a little perspective. We are literate if not well read and that in itself is a huge milestone.

  24. BigBangHunter says:

    – Whats so surereal to waatch is people like Bummbledick and all the outliers in his flock, hell bent on destroying the only sociatal construct in the world, free market Capitalism, that can possibly support their free love, godless, amoral, success killing, unmotivated, slacker ideas.

    – I don’t think anyone thats reasonable or sane would suggest we can’t always attempt to make things better. But these people just destroy, feed off of everything around themselves, like true parasites.

    – I can see why they might feel sympatico with the Islamists. They don’t build anything either. Just war and steal and assalt everyone else.

  25. leigh says:

Yeah, sometimes it makes you feel like Hamlet in his famous soliloquy. “Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing, end them.” (I’m paraphrasing, I think.)

We all know lefties in our lives and it’s so disheartening to try to talk to them as if they have a brain (after all, they love to tell you about their expensive educations) and watch the lights switch off when they realize you are “off script.”

  26. BigBangHunter says:

    – And that “switch off” thing is what betrays their intellectual cowardice.

    – I’ve seen the effects when they get in a mixed group where “other” ideas are being discussed and tossed around. They panic, unable to even entertain other viewpoints, begin to raise their voices and animate, just like you’d expect from the most indoctrinated religious zealot.

  27. BigBangHunter says:

    – Which I would tend to ascribe to the difference between knowing facts on paper by dent of a scripted education, and really understanding the true menings of what you’ve been taught by rote.

    – In other words, education versus wisdom and common sense. They seem like children who’s minds have been crammed full of ideas, with no clue of what those ideas really mean, or how they all inter-relate. Useful idiots.

  28. BigBangHunter says:

    – Another name for the phenomena would be “Computer heads”.

  29. The irony of The Won riding to the rescue to fix God’s mistakes seems to be lost on him.

Isaac Newton said, “If I have seen farther than others it is only because I have stood on the shoulders of giants.” Nonetheless, I don’t recall anyone saying that Newton didn’t relaly invent calculus on his own. Or Leibniz as well for the pedants.

The idea that because each of us producers aren’t God creating everything from nothing that we should therefore be subject to greater taxation (no matter what the current level of taxation is, incidentally) is getting to be more than a little grating. If he wants anarchists, perhaps he should check with Elizabth Warren and the OWS crowd. I cannot recall any producers saying they shouldn’t be paying any taxes.

  30. Leigh, it’s row to hoe. Nobody hoes roads, though it would be exceedingly difficult.

  31. Funny, The Won issues executive orders by his bad self.

  32. leigh says:

I knew what I meant, Charles.

  33. BigBangHunter says:

    – You can hoe my roads anytime you like Leigh.

  34. BigBangHunter says:

    – Just don’t go hoeing McGehee’s roads. People have been known to dosappear that way.

  35. newrouter says:

was hoeing roads part of baracky’s stimulus?

  36. B Moe says:

Our lives are richer, fuller, longer and better nourished than at any time in history. If people want to whine and bitch about this and that, they need to get a little perspective.

Here is some perspective for you: that way of life is possible because we are living on credit cards instead of paying for it as we go. That can’t continue, eventually we are going to have to start living on what we are actually producing. When that happens a lot of freeloaders are going to be in a world of hurt, and seriously fucking pissed off.

Stupid, hungry and angry is a dangerous combination.

  37. McGehee says:

My wife’s jealous, what can I say?

  39. serr8d says:

OT, don’t hold your breath, but if Mr. Romney seems ‘too weak‘ for even David (Soft Before He Was Weak) Frum, then perhaps come Convention time we might see another contender…?

You need to go on offense!

Obama wants to talk about outsourcing. Ok, then, slap him with it. Here’s an example: “Obama has outsourced our credit to the Chinese, he has outsourced our energy to Saudi Arabia, he has outsourced NASA to the Russians (H/T Jim Geraghty, NRO), and he has outsourced our foreign policy to the United Nations.” ….

  42. leigh says:

I don’t think we’re going to spring a new contender from the forehead of Zeus at the convention, serr8d. More’s the pity.

I do think that Romney hasn’t just been chilling by the pool this last week in New Hampshire, either. They’ve had plenty of time to prepare for this campaign, so I hope they have some depth charges for Buh-rock this coming week. They already have a new ad out that blast Obama about “Where’s the hope?” or “What happened to the hope?” One or the other and it uses Bob Scheiffer and another talking heads saying that in their newscaster. Apparently, Ole Bob is fit to be tied.

    Heh.

  43. leigh says:

    Make that newscast not casters.

“Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive.”

So you see, not only can you NOT take credit for your hard work and efforts to make yourself successful, you also need to understand that King Barry and the Mother-Knows-Best government (AKA the “American system”) has graciously allowed you to succeed.

A little gratitude is in order when Obama passes the Tip Jar, don’t ya think?
