“Unemployment Rate Dropped In Every State That Elected A Republican Gov. In 2010”

Speaking as a Hobbit, I don’t blame Bush.

By the way, any truth to the rumor Al Gore is putting together a second film, The Inconvenient Truth 2:  Yeah, We Dems Pretty Much Fucked Everything Up, Didn’t We?  Because if not, boy do I have a pitch to make to him!

You know who else doesn’t blame Bush? Robert Reich.

    Yes, that Robert Reich.

Althouse links to an IndyStar story detailing a comparison of Indiana and Illinois. Indiana is returning a surplus to Indiana taxpayers, $300 million overall, sending $100 to every individual tax-filer and $200 to couples.

    In Illinois,by contrast:

Last year, Illinois lawmakers scrambled to close a budget shortfall estimated at $11 billion. Despite substantial tax increases and deep cuts in services, the state ended the 2012 fiscal year, which closed June 30, with a shortfall of more than $8 billion. In fact, Illinois’ auditor general recently released a report describing the state’s deficit as the nation’s worst based on the percentage of revenue.

Is there an Intrade market for which state goes bankrupt first?

“Is there an Intrade market for which state goes bankrupt first?”

    – La La Land passed that cherished goal some 8 years ago, so no one would take that bet.

  5. Squid says:

California’s not bankrupt! Really — there’s thousands of vendors holding IOUs on very official-looking State letterhead that agree with me!

  6. BigBangHunter says:

    – Unhuh…..and if they hang on to them for about 200 years their great-great=great grandchildren may be able to sell them as collectors items from the “Age of fiscal insanity”.

California IOU’s = the Wooden Nickels of the early 21st century.

  8. McGehee says:

Palaeo, I’d compare California’s IOUs to Confederate money — except Confederate money was worth something when it was printed.

You guy’s! Quit picking on California!

If anyone knows how to get me off unemployment, and back working, it’s California’s wise leadership.

    Behold!

A bill that would safeguard illegal immigrants from status checks by local authorities has passed the California Senate.

The so-called “California Trust Act” passed through last week.

Supporters are calling it the “Anti-Arizona” bill.

Under the bill, local police won’t be able to refer a detainee to immigration officials for deportation unless that person has been convicted of a violent or serious felony.

“….unless that person has been convicted of a violent or serious felony. “

    – Notice the wording “convicted”. A beaner could be standing there with a machete dripping blood, but if he doesn’t have a record…. no harm, no foul.

    – Well eventually maybe Arizona will loan La La land some money when it runs out of paper even to write IOU’s.

Jerry Brown is trying to get a massive tax hike and he’s earmarked all the money for his piggy piggy teacher whore pals – not the general fund

I’m curious to see what happens I probably won’t vote either way on that one since on the one hand I think it’s a nice inducement for high earners to move away and stop supporting this highly corrupt enterprise we call california but on the other hand it’s a fascist initiative and once you start pulling the lever for fascism history tells us it’s sort of a slippery slope

Here’s a song about all that.
