“Obama Confuses NAACP With NCAA At Medal Of Freedom Ceremony”

Some wingnut Birthers are pointing to this as yet another of Obama’s rhetorical blunders — see, for instance, Polish death camps, eg., which the White House has already explained — but what this truly shows is that in Obama, we have a President who transcends mere politics and allows his prodigious (and, some say, otherworldly) intellect to engage myriad areas of interest, such as college basketball tournaments or BCS title games, and so gives us the well-rounded, cosmopolitan statesmen we’re blessed to have working on our behalf to transform what has been a miserably unfair country stoked by greed into a bastion of government-mandated equality run on compassion.

Instead of taunting him for it, the right should recognize it as being part of his genius — the very trait that allows him to connect so effortlessly with everyday people.  Who don’t bittercling.

Besides:  who the fuck uses “Colored People” anymore, anyway.

The correct term, allow me to inform the NAACP, is “people of color.”  And if that organization doesn’t wish to make the correction, then one can hardly blame Obama for an error that isn’t so much his fault as it is the fault of some anachronistic verbiage which his supposed gaffe has helped illuminate.  And perhaps will even help correct.

Even in error He heals the culture.

Be thankful and grateful.  For He errs for your (cultural) sins.

Racists.

I can’t be the only one who is bothered by the slogan of the United Negro College Fund; “A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste”. True enough, but that sentence is a grammatic nightmare.

“It’s a terrible thing to waste a mind” doesn’t have the same ring of authenticitay, I guess.

In other news: Team Obama is going to “peel the bark off Romney.”

    DEATH THREAT!

Obama: “Where there’s bark, there’s gotta be a dog. A tasty, tasty dog.”

Eh, the advancement of colored people recently took a back seat (if I may) to the advancement of gay people.

Howz about we go with Colored-Americans, and call it a day?

One among the many pretensions of the political left is the ever congratulatory self-image as Great Apprehenders: they frankly believe they know every man they meet better than that man can possibly know himself, for they know the “truth” of the world (That truth? There is no truth, silly! And POWER is its name.) and he does not.

Think of Cameron’s Avatar film’s use of “I see you” in the scheme of the noble savage: there is precisely the left’s mythical self-image. They believe they can behold the authentic man who stands before them, in his all-in-all.

Yet, so far are they from being the thinking embodiment of their own myth — from living as they pretend to live — they almost never fail to mistake the simplest matters, even unto insult, as here, if not into their own bewilderment, as in the course of the ObamaCare arguments before the Supreme Court and the aftermath thereto. So far are they from making their prized “Critical Studies” meaningful by applying a serious criticism to themselves.

The fact that there is a “correct term” for ethnic groups is stupid and offensive.

I shouldn’t be forced into adopting a jargon, especially a shifting jargon, to indicate that I don’t hate or want to fight everybody in some particular ethnic group. I only want to fight bohunks, and even then I want it kept at the ‘shoving and flipping off’ level. And no head-butting! Head-butting is so early nineties.

Well, sdferr, Obama heard quite a bit about Judaism at the madrassa and from his spiritual mentor’s friend Farrakhan.

    Sowell has some relevant words:

What can be done now, to head off the many dangers in our current political policies and attitudes? There is not much we can do about demographic trends. But the changing composition of the American population is not, in itself, the fundamental danger. After all, vast millions of immigrants crossed the Atlantic for generations on end, and began the process of becoming Americans. Millions of black people likewise began that process after being set free.

Demography is not destiny. But the history of Balkanized and polarized societies in the 20th century is a history of horrors that we dare not ignore.

We are not at that terrible point yet. But that is the direction in which we are headed, under the spell of magic words like “multiculturalism” and “diversity,” which have become substitutes for thoughts, even among those who pride themselves on being “thinking people.”

Our whole educational system, from the elementary schools to the universities, is permeated with ideologies of group grievances and resentments, painting each group into the corner of its own separate subculture, instead of drawing them into the mainstream of the American culture that made this the greatest nation on earth.

Unless this fashionable Balkanization is stopped, demography can become destiny — and a tragedy for all.

Obama also stressed he probably knows about Judaism more than any other president, because he read about it – and wondered how come no one asks Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner or Senate minority leader Mitch McConnel about their support to Israel.

    UM: Who are these people?

WHI: We’ve discussed them. It’s all there. Most of it anyways…that’s the most frustrating thing really. It’s all there. You’ve touched on it…others have done it in a lot more detail than you have. No offense…but there’s been others who have really put a lot of it together. But you’ve got the basics down…the unions are big in it. They own him. Obama. They own him. Globalists. Jarrett is in that. Obama was taught day one to hate America, right? So Big Labor, the globalists, the socialists, the communists, Green Energy…all that bullsh-t is just a different side of the same f-cking face. It’s all the same. And Barack Obama is their creation.

    (Pause)

You did something on the…the drone story, right? How Obama loves to use those drones. His kill list? The Times did a write up on that?

UM: Yes – I…just yesterday. Obama’s interest in personally giving the go ahead to bomb specific targets using drones.

WHI: Right – now ask yourself this…why is a president so consumed by this one little part of the job? Now that may sound…I don’t mean to dismiss the taking of human life as a little part of the job…but hell…fact is…I don’t know of a president who has ever taken such…personal interest…I’m gonna come right out and call it pleasure, ok? Barack Obama takes personal pleasure in using those drones. Now why is that? ‘Cause that kind of obsession – that ain’t normal. He’s a lazy slob of a president – but that damn drone program has his full attention. He love’s the sh-t outta those godd—mn drones. He spends hours watching television, or flying around giving another speech – but he don’t miss one of those kill meetings.

So ask yourself – WHY? And I’ll tell ya that once you figure out that, then you see the big picture. You see what’s going on here – you see the payoff. You see how odd things he’s said in the past…how they now make a hell of a lot more sense now. You see what a second Obama term really means for us. You see why the military is getting more and more nervous about this guy…you see why it’s got somebody like the Old Man so upset and so damn afraid. You have…just like I did…you have your own John 9:30 moment.

    (Pause)

…Obama loves them drones. He has made them a personal priority above all else.

The question that is also the answer to so much of this then – is WHY? From there…I got the goods…I told you what their re-election plan was. How they are gonna use race, division, chaos…that’s the re-election plan. Folks are talking now…from inside the administration. And they are afraid. Sh-t ain’t right. Where they wanna take us – and it’s got people upset. Military had wind of it first…the Old Man knew…now it’s spreading. Not about the election campaign -the second term plan. There’s denials being sent back…but nobody trusts them now. And the ones who do…they are in on it themselves. Others…like me…you might see us smilin’ and noddin’…but know that’s just the public face we are putting on. We gotta do that to maintain access. Don’t let that throw you – you’re gonna see more and more of that in the coming months. That just needs to be done. We lose our access…makes it a hell of a lot tougher to plan, right? So you may see me saying one thing…I’m doing it different. You gotta trust me on that. There will come a time in all of this…it’s gonna get tough, it’s gonna get weird…you’re gonna feel used up. Betrayed. When we reach that point, and we will – I’m tellin’ you now – we will reach that point…trust is what will keep it all together. If we don’t have that…they win. And if they win – we all are gonna lose and lose hard.

The country’s really in the sh-t now…and the papers runnin’ low…

But the most disturbing aspect of the latest NYT insider’s account of the war on terrorism, no doubt timed to shore up Candidate Obama’s national-security credentials for his re-election campaign, is the selection process for drone targets. Apparently President Obama personally selects the targets and approves each operation. This is both an incredible misuse of presidential time and a serious distortion of proper war management. Does no one remember the problems created when Lyndon Johnson took a similar hand in the Vietnam war? First, this president has no military background or expertise that would make him particularly good at this, meaning that he is likely to make errors of commission (picking the wrong targets) and omission (not hitting the right targets). Second, the Defense Department and the CIA will become excessively responsive to Obama’s agenda, which will predictably conflict with the best intelligence and military judgment. Third, a President’s micromanagement of targeting will draw his attention to tactical issues and away from the more important strategic issues — which is unintentionally revealed several times in the Times piece.

Lastly, if President Obama is picking targets, and has no military background or experience, one is left to ask what criteria the president does use. The laughable answer given in the Times piece is that Obama is a student of Aquinas and Augustine and Catholic just-war theory. I hate to say it, but I wonder whether this was proffered because of the Obama administration’s terrible relations with Catholics right now, because I saw no signs in the article that Obama is in the least bit familiar with Catholic just-war theory, and his background of teaching and practicing civil-rights and constitutional law in Chicago would never have exposed him to it.

The first rule on the use of tax-exempt funding for personal use seems particularly problematic in Kimberlin’s case. As Ed Barnes reported at Fox News in 2010:

A review of tax filings for Kimberlin’s blogs, “Velvet Revolution” and “Justice Through Music,” raises troubling questions about whether his “nonprofit” operations are dedicated to public activism — or are just a new facade for a longtime con artist.

And Kimberlin is likely in non-compliance with rule 3 prohibiting direct or indirect political activity, given his long campaign to silence conservatives daring to speak out on his political affiliations.

    So, there you go.

  21. newrouter says:

But restoring the American dream requires more than restoring a sound, productive economy, vitally important as that is. It requires a return to spiritual and moral values, values so deeply held by those who came here to build a new life. We need to restore those values in our daily life, in our neighborhoods and in our government’s dealings with the other nations of the world.

These are the values inspiring those brave workers in Poland. The values that have inspired other dissidents under Communist domination. They remind us that where free unions and collective bargaining are forbidden, freedom is lost. They remind us that freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. You and I must protect and preserve freedom here or it will not be passed on to our children. Today the workers in Poland are showing a new generation not how high is the price of freedom but how much it is worth that price.

I want more than anything I’ve ever wanted, to have an administration that will, through its actions, at home and in the international arena, let millions of people know that Miss Liberty still “Lifts her lamp beside the golden door.”

There is nothing grammatically wrong with the sentence “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.”

I thought of that saying recently, too. As in, “what the hell happened to the idea that a mind is a terrible thing to waste?”
