You may recall that Obama has expressed how he’d like to work around Congress.
So what if Congress froze the $192 million “aid” package to the Palestinian Authority? Obama doesn’t let a little thing like that stand in His way.
Friday night news dump: President Obama has decided to provide $192 million to the Palestinian Authority despite Congress’s freeze on PA funding after its president, Mahmoud Abbas, attempted to declare statehood unilaterally last September, in violation of the PA’s treaty commitments. […]
White House spinmeister Tommy Vietor stated that President Obama made the decision to pour American taxpayer dollars into Palestinian coffers in order to ensure “the continued viability of the moderate PA government.” He added the claim that, as the report puts it, “the PA had fulfilled all its major obligations, such as recognizing Israel’s right to exist, renouncing violence and accepting the Road Map for Peace.”
In the real world, the very immoderate PA has reneged on all its commitments. In addition to violating its obligations by unilaterally declaring statehood, the PA has also agreed to form a unity government with Hamas, a terrorist organization that is the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. The PA continues to endorse terrorism against Israel as “resistance.” Moreover, the PA most certainly does not recognize Israel’s right to exist. […]
In sum, everything Obama is saying about Palestinian compliance is a lie. Even if we were not broke, we should not be giving the PA a dime. To borrow money so we can give it to them is truly nuts.
Will Congress do anything about it?
Besides bloviate? Surprise me.
Why any observant Jew would pull the lever for any Democrat, least of all for the Jew-hostile Obama, is incomprehensible.
Mediamatterz and thinkregress just squirted milky loads.
the PA is never in the news anymore not even on National Soros Radio hardly
Given that PA President Mahmoud Abbas’ term of political office has long since expired (twice even!) yet he does not leave office, nor dare stand in an election he knows he would certainly lose — instead tyrannically retaining power — it’s no damned wonder Obama feels this close kinship to the man and his political structure. Perhaps Obama thinks of the funds as a payment for instruction from the master?
OT – but seriously, is anyone else seeing the wiggling text problem that I am seeing? Looks like it starts right after the first appearance of the social media icons at the end of the first post.
OT: can we get an annual report from the crank-d and squidco enterprise?
Why is there no “y”?
No wiggles here, firefox.
Wait is “wiggling text” some kind of coded racial dog whistle that I am unaware of? See what happens when you miss even one VRWC meeting.
Darleen, the second sentence in your post makes your penultimate sentence redundant. What, exactly, can Congress actually do, when confronted by the reality that until there are 67 Senators to confirm impeachment or override a veto there are no actual legal options to rein this administration in? And that even then there’s no guarantee?
As a practical matter, we are either going to pay the costs of a civil war, or we’re going to surrender. And the Left knows that we are aware of those costs, and actually care about everyone caught in the crossfire. That’s their ace in the hole.
Lucky for me, SDN, that I really don’t like people in general all that much.
Please replace “that I really” with “I really” in my last comment.
Barcky really hates the Jooooooooooz
So I guess the odds of barack finding a convenient Jewish ancestor in time for the next election are vanishing small?
Maybe it’ll be Typical Jewish Person™ like his grandmother was a TWP.
I thought maybe his Gramps or his Uncle or whomever it was who liberated Auschwitz or Dachau or one of those camps—whatever the story was that he pulled out of his ass—might have brought home a poor, malnourished HALF-jewish orphan, nursed him back to health and kept him as a houseboy.
Congress should creatively fail to appropriate some money in effect cutting the budget of the executive branch.
I always look at the House of Reps as the closest thing to us that exists in government. So when the House is made of a bunch of lying, sniveling pocket liners, that’s because we asked for it. When we send a bunch of reformers to clean up their stench, we’re tired of the status quo. And when they dither over whether and how to cut the budget, that’s because we haven’t exactly given them a clear indication it’s what we want.
Regardless of how well or how poorly the House operates, it’s still basically our will they’re mirroring. So when the President thumbs his nose at the House, disregards their decisions, he’s basically telling us, the American people, screw you, I do what I want!
If you are are Republican, hoping to be reelected this year, I think you need to hammer that point as much as you possibly can. This President has disdain for your representatives, and therefor, you.
And even with a less than stellar Presidential candidate running, these people could slaughter the Dems. Do they want to?
Could it be that the current crop of liberals of Jewish persuasion all have a case of survivor’s guilt? I can’t for the life of me (and them) figure out why any of them would pull the lever for the destruction of the Jewish state.
On the bright side it is only a couple hundred million, so by the time the PA leaders get through lining their pockets very little will be left for bombs and rockets.
The ever-helpful NYT has a front-page article proclaiming that, since talks in Iran have re-started, there’s no need to consider anymore an unhelpful strike on that rogue nation’s nuclear weapons plants.
Iranian officials agree 100% with the Times’ striking evaluations.
