“Trayvon Martin Parents To Testify in Congress”

Let’s see: they weren’t witnesses to the shooting.  Nor is the shooting a national matter.  And besides, this is supposedly an “ongoing investigation” (though the police in FL seem to think they were correct in how they handled the case). So why in the world would Trayvon Martin’s parents be testifying before Congress? — mock or no mock?

Oh, right:  Fast and Furious ended up arming Mexican drug cartels and getting US law enforcement agents and a lot of innocent people dead. Therefore, it can’t be effectively used to “brainwash” the citizenry of this country into hating their Second Amendment rights.

So, if at first you don’t succeed…

Here’s the thing:  every sentient being NOT afraid of being called a racist or of being portrayed as a HATER knows that, from what they’ve been able to glean from the facts in this case — and that is largely in spite of the legacy media’s early attempts to create a specific narrative of events — the Florida “stand your ground” law worked precisely as it was intended to work:  Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, was struck and being beaten by Trayvon Martin, and was indeed in real physical peril.  Why he was struck is still murky, but it is also largely irrelevant, with respect to the law in question –– unless Zimmerman initiated the scuffle.  Witnesses seem to suggest that isn’t the case.  And being followed by neighborhood watch as a stranger in a neighorhood that had experienced break-ins is not grounds for assault.

Unfortunately, the Left knows that GOP politicians will run scared and stuttering from this case — and so they will use Congressional testimony from the parents as theater to suggest we need some sort of national soul-searching on race.  And they will look to capitalize on any GOP grousing as proof of latent racism on the part of those who don’t fall for this propaganda charade.  They don’t need actual Congressional hearings when they can simply fake them and have a complicit press cover them as if they’re legitimate.  In fact, this way works even better, for their purposes — because the testimony is completely one sided!

Forget that the real racialism here is being stoked by cynical race hustlers and leftwing politicians.  Forget that the New Black Panthers have put a bounty on a private citizen — a “pussy ass cracker” who just inconveniently happens to be brown-skinned and half Peruvian.  Forget that the mother of Trayvon Martin now has a financial motivation to spread the story and her dead son’s image.  Forget that Martin himself, who Tweeted under “NO_LIMIT_NIGGA,” had in earlier incidents been found with a bag containing women’s jewelry, etc.

This is cynical, Stalinist-style politics at its very worst.  And it only works in a climate of carefully manufactured political correctness — and even then, only if it used by anti-foundationalist “progressives” who no longer feel the need to answer charges of hypocrisy or “unfairness” because they have already granted themselves the circular license that comes with having attained a kind of secular grace:  they are good, therefore all they do is righteous.  We are dealing with a will to power — a secularized re-imagining of a peculiar strain of self-serving 13th Century Germanic theology espoused by, eg. Meister Eckhart.

We no longer live in a free country.  Having let the Left take over the institutions — from the mainstream press to our public schools and universities — while simultaneously giving them the power to control meaning through sheer force of political will (this is, after all, what PC is), we have put ourselves in a position to be bullied and controlled by a malicious minority seeking to enslave us.

So I’m saying this now, before the inevitable “conservative” voices come out to caution us against being unhelpful —  by appearing to be unconcerned with the shooting of an unarmed teenager while defending something so “controversial” as the right to shoot someone who happens to be slamming your head into the pavement, you’re only going to make matters worse; best to just keep your head down and serve up Zimmerman for the greater good of the GOP:  this is a sham.  A profoundly disgusting sham.  These parents have nothing to offer that requires Congressional testimony.  And by allowing this story to take on a national hue, we are granting the federal government the inch it needs to start pressuring states to comply with its top-down controls by sheer force of publicity —  and the concomitant looming threat of public rioting it has shown it will both allow and foster. This is what happens when you allow Marxists and community organizers to control a government.  And refusing to call them what they are simply hasn’t made it go away — or convince them to act against their interests as a courtesy for your willful blindness.

We should fight this type of propaganda effort without fear and without hesitation.  But we won’t.  Because unlike the left, who controls us, we on the right are “led” by the kinds of pragmatists who, because they lack real principle, will always, in the end, surrender the narrative to dedicated and clever ideologues.

Losing more slowly is picking up speed.  But then, we here always so that coming, didn’t we?

  2. sdferr says:

So another “before Congress” fake-out, designed along the lines of the “before Congress” Fluke fake-out.

Congress, as I recall, consists of the whole body of Representatives composed of both Majority and Minority Parties. The term congress itself derives from a term meaning “joined together” as in intercourse.

Any pretended “committee” composed solely of one party, either solely Majority or solely Minority can hardly qualify under the American political arrangement as Congressional.

Thanks for the who? Jeff. I still don’t understand the what? or the why?, though.

  6. Jeff G. says:

I did a post a long time ago using Meister Eckhart (it’s Carin’s favorite) that I can’t find in my archives, but the gist of Eckhart is that because you are of God, you can not help but to be good. This is how the left thinks of itself. That’s all I was going for.

Previously I’ve tied it to irresistible grace and Pascal, but I want to take this self-serving mindset all the way back. It is not new. Nor is sophistry.

  7. Ernst Schreiber says:

Got you now. All the we (i.e. the Left) do is good because we are good and we do it.

I think you can probably take that notion all the way back to Mani and Valentinus, and maybe even Simon Magus.

  8. leigh says:

All this Meister Eckhart stuff aside (although I do like his drug stores), there is a statute in the Great State of Florida prohibiting interfering with Neighborhood Watch captains when they are on their rounds.

If Youngblood Martin did indeed inflict great bodily harm on George Zimmerman causing Zimmerman to shoot him in self-defense, the Martin family is in a heap o’ trouble for defaming ole George. Zimmerman has not been able to return to his residence or his job. He has been expelled from his college and is in fear of his life from the NBPP.

I say the Martins got some ‘splainin’ to do.

If you were linking to Trayvon’s Twitter account, Jeff, it’s gone again. From The DC:

Update: Shortly after TheDC published this archive Monday, Trayvon Martin’s account suddenly reappeared on Twitter. It was offline for at least one week.

Update, Tuesday, 12 noon: The Twitter account has been yet again disabled.

I’m not counting on my heavily-medicated governor on this one, but I hope there are a handful of other governors out there who aren’t afraid to push back twice as hard. Point out the cynical abuse of a dead young man; point out the epidemic of violence that has been hollowing out the nation’s Democrat strongholds for decades; point out the lies being promoted in order to keep the narrative from unraveling; point out the rank arrogance and hypocrisy of lectures on gun violence coming from an Administration that arms Mexican drug gangs.

Get in their faces. Hit them hard with facts and truth, and don’t let up. And never, ever let them intimidate you into silence.

For what it’s worth, I just got back from lunch with a couple of my true-blue Dem cow-orkers, and they’re already aware of just how flimsy this bullshit story is. I don’t think Obama realizes just how poisonous the race hustlers are; their presence at these “peaceful gatherings” just makes ordinary people suspicious.

  12. Jeff G. says:

Note that our heavily medicated governor refused to sign the bi-partisan bill which would have created laws similar to Florida’s here in MN.

I was in a bar last night (shocking, I know), and was subject to the endless CNN loop on this case. Chaka Khan apparently offered up a lot of opinions (the sound was off).

I wasn’t aware that she was a witness to the event.

Also, some talking heads were saying they wanted justice. No, they want someone else to die. If this continues, they will likely get their wish granted.

  17. geoffb says:

The parents of slain Florida teenager Trayvon Martin will travel to Washington Tuesday to attend a Capitol Hill briefing on racial profiling and hate crimes, the family’s lawyer told NPR.

The briefing on the federal government’s enforcement of laws against racial profiling and hate crimes will be held by Democratic Reps. Sheila Jackson Lee, John Conyers and Corrine Brown.
    […]
The lawmakers, each of whom has condemned the shooting, are expected to criticize Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, which is under review in the wake of the shooting. Lawmakers also are expected to examine certification requirements for neighborhood watch volunteers.

In addition, they are expected to argue in favor of charging Zimmerman with a hate crime.

The family’s lawyer, Benjamin Crump, is one of several people from the legal community and law enforcement scheduled to speak at the briefing, according to a release from Jackson Lee’s office.

The boy’s father, Tracy Martin, and mother, Sybrina Fulton, aren’t expected to speak at the briefing, Jackson Lee’s office said.
    […]
Jackson Lee, Conyers, Brown and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus have joined the calls for an arrest in the case.

On Monday, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II, D-Mo., chairman of the caucus, told radio host Bill Press he hopes the shooting investigations mark a “turning point” in addressing “subliminal racial bigotry in the country.”

Asked if he believes Martin was targeted because he’s black, Cleaver said, “Absolutely. I know that I’m supposed to say I don’t know, but I think absolutely.
    […]
Correction at 11:40 a.m. ET: Earlier, we said the briefing was being held by the House Judiciary Committee. It is not. We have corrected the post above.

So not a hearing but a briefing. No one will “testify”. The parents will not “speak” just their mouthpiece will “speak” for them.

Call it a half-Fluke event. Then they should go to Detroit and hold a “Winter-Cop” spectacle for the media. Kerry could moderate it, he knows hoe to run these things.

  19. geoffb says:

Tuesday’s hearing is technically a mock hearing, since Democrats are in the minority and can’t convene an official hearing. Among those slated to testify are Rebecca Monroe, acting director of the Community Relations Service at the Justice Department; Albert E. Dotson, Jr., chairman of 100 Black Men of America Inc.; Robert Parker, former director of the Miami-Dade Police Department; Ben Jealous, president and CEO of the NAACP; and Daniel Gross, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

Democrats, making mock of everything the nation was founded upon, as always.

  31. Very well put Jeff.

I’ve avoiding this topic like the plague; at least until ALL of the facts come out.

Zimmerman was no saint. But he was not a racist or white. This should be interesting to watch.

  32. geoffb says:

When the Left causes an explosion they prefer one that multi-tasks.

Collateral damage and secondary burns they hope for.

Neighborhood Watch will go away. Who wants to be the next George Zimmerman? Or Zimmermans’ wife and kids. Expensive liability insurance will be required if it isn’t already and will price “Watch” groups out as it will be cheaper to just hire security.

Self defense will happen less often for the same reason. Just give the thugs their bling and hope they don’t have a taste for more serious mayhem in mind. Defending someone else who is being assaulted, robbed, raped? You’re kidding right? Do I look like a “George”? CCW? Why bother. Use it and lose everything your own and maybe your life too.

More crime, more unionized cops hired, more taxes to pay for them, more union kickbacks to Dems. Win-win-win!

More racial divisions for Dems to make political hay over. More money and power flowing to the Sharptons, the Jacksons, the race baiting, blood sucking lawyers and Congress-critters. More spoils to pass out to favored groups. Higher taxes to pay for all of it. Win-win-win again.

More calls for gun control laws, gun bans, licensing. The Brady Campaign starts having wet dreams again.

Shouldn’t we also being seeing 7-11 security camera footage showing the innocent black child just minutes before his “murder?” I find this lack of information very telling. Did Martin actually BUY the Skittles and iced tea or steal them?

geoffb, you are absolutely right. On all counts. And the sickening thing is the number of so-called “gun bloggers” and “Second Amendment Advocates” who have suddenly started advocating exactly this.

  41. SGTTed says:

Part of the problem is that people take stories like this far too seriously and rely far too much on the face value before we hear from any of the authorities involved. Classic Lynch Mob behavior. T

The MSM is counting on that to get the usual denunciations and 2 minite hate from whoever they can goad into it before the facts actually come out. They always do it. Because, before, they could control the narrative and if they were wrong, they could ignore it or make a ‘correction’ on page A-34596 bottom graph. Squishy conservatives will go squish, then look foolish for caving to demands from those that hate them. Rinse, repeat.

Fortunately, we now have the ability to get information usually filtered out by the MSM for propagandas purposes that contradicts the Narrative Du Jour. That fact make this a spectacular fail for the racist Democrats. The folks that rushed to kiss PC ass have egg on their faces and they know it. The Black Racist Opportunists are really taking a beating over this rush to judgement right now; there will be lawsuits for harrassment and hopefully, Federal Civil Rights suits against Spike Lee and the rest of the Hate Whitey” crowd that have egged on the vigilantees. The SF Chronicle isn’t even covering it and they drool over stuff like this. I think they got wise to it, early.

This is actually really turning out to be a spectacular failure, on the order of the OWS protests.

Oh there’s a surprise. Poor innocent 12 year old Trayvon never did nuthing to nobody.

Wait, he wasn’t 12 ? Why does he look 12 in all of the pictures the press is showing me??

  43. jdw says:

And the sickening thing is the number of so-called “gun bloggers” and “Second Amendment Advocates” who have suddenly started advocating exactly this.

The one thing stressed in CCW classes, and I mean hammered home, is that everything that comes out of the bbl of your piece has a lawyer attached to it. You must be absolutely, positively, and completely in control of that tiny fragment of copper-encrusted lead. If it ricochets off a pavement and strikes anything, you are responsible. If it’s overpowered, and goes clean through your target, you are responsible for the granny standing behind. You are responsible until that slug comes to a complete stop.

And your Homeowner’s Insurance won’t cover a damned grain of it.

That’s why the first and top requirement for any CC permit holder is to be circumspect. You are NOT a cop, you are not now a ‘public defender’. You have to know that, realize the limitations thereof, and act accordingly when and if the time comes.

  44. Crawford says:

    newrouter quotes:

It seems that in the normal course of journalistic investigation we would have seen an interview with the last person to “see” this “murdered” young child.

Except that would also open the question of why it took so long for the family to start looking for him.

That’s why the first and top requirement for any CC permit holder is to be circumspect. You are NOT a cop, you are not now a ‘public defender’. You have to know that, realize the limitations thereof, and act accordingly when and if the time comes.

Which is why the evidence is that Zimmerman’s piece didn’t come out until he was on the ground being beaten.*

Which, in my mind, opens an intriguing question: As I understand it, in Florida, you cannot open-carry unless you’re engaged in hunting or fishing. If Zimmerman had been openly carrying his weapon — strapped to his waste in a retention holster, in public view so it was obvious he was armed — would Trayvon(tm) have assaulted him, or would he have worked harder to avoid escalating the confrontation?

If Zimmerman had risked a “brandishing” charge by taking his piece in-hand before leaving his truck, would that have made a difference?

In other words, did over-zealous gun control laws lead this young man to under-estimate the risk he was taking?

(*) The report I’ve seen says Zimmerman’s gun, a semi-automatic, had fired a single shot and failed to reload. The best explanations for the failure are either he didn’t have a firm enough grip because of the struggle, or the gun was between the two of them during the struggle, preventing the slide from working.

  45. Crawford says:

Honestly, I don’t think there’s a chance this case will actually result in a change in momentum in regards to gun control. There are just too many counter-examples. They can wave a bloody hoodie all they want, but Florida’s laws also made it clear that a black guy being attacked by two white thugs was in the right when he used his gun (wish I’d saved the link to that story), and I know a case in Ohio where a POS leaned into the open driver’s side window of a car, started punching the driver, and caught two rounds — the police even returned the firearm after it the prosecutor made it clear there was no crime.

I just casually follow these things; I know there are people who log every defensive gun use they hear about. Any campaign against “castle doctrine” or ccw is going to run head-long into the facts mustered by these people *AND* a shit-ton of opposition.

You think all those women who have been buying guns the last couple of years are going to give them up because of this?

  46. jdw says:

I’ve a difficult time of it, finding much sympathy for GZ. He’s overzealous at best; a self-appointed ‘Captain’ who called 911 dozens of times this year alone. He’s a registered Democrat (NTTAWWT, but it seems every time you give a LeftLibProgg some responsibility or power he’ll screw things up). Now, his buddies are using his handiwork to again assault the rights belonging to all of us.

Hopefully this will play out as another example of Leftarded Miserable Failure (see: Spike Lee, Jesse ‘n Al, &c.) soon enough.

  47. Jeff G. says:

He’s called 911 40 times over a series of years. And hadn’t his neighborhood been victimized?

If Zimmerman had been openly carrying his weapon — strapped to his waste in a retention holster, in public view so it was obvious he was armed — would Trayvon(tm) have assaulted him, or would he have worked harder to avoid escalating the confrontation?

One of the underlying strategic strengths of shall issue, concealed carry is that it is possible anyone may in fact have a gun at hand, but hidden from view. That in and of itself should give the prudent pause before escalating any confrontation. (unless of course, you are in a gun free defenseless victim zone).

  52. jdw says:

Not take a beating, Jeff. I’d’ve shot hoodie-boi just as quickly, if my fighting skills hadn’t worked instead. But to get to that point, the GZ sweathog moment-of-fail? Not my style. He showed up to that moment carrying a load of monumental fail.

  53. twolaneflash says:

What am I saying? Hollywood already did Barabbas The Movie in 1961 with a Mexican, Antonio Quinn-Oxaca, portraying Barabbas. Hollywood made Barabbas a saint in their rewrite of history in that bit of heresy, on which they were never called-out by Christians of the day. Spike Lee will use the 1961 movie as a pattern for “Trayvon- The Movie”. Odds are Barabbas continued his previously established pattern of anti-social behavior, dying during a street mugging gone good. The message to thugs, goons, gang-bangers, and other assorted criminals inspired by the likes of Trayvon, Spike Lee, Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, and NBPP is that handgun sales, carry permits, and armed white people have vastly increased in numbers in the last three years, and the numbers are increasing daily. Thank you for that, President Obama, Racist-in-Charge and Gun Salesman of the Century. Not since the Civil War, when hundreds of thousands of white men died in horrible combat and freed slaves held by other white men, have so many guns been made and distributed for use inside our borders. I feel safer already. Powder dry.
