Guess Obama’s apology for the accidental destruction of some Korans — which led to attacks on US troops, which presumably was our fault, too; after all, the murder of troops is perfectly legitimate retaliation for the accidental destruction of some fucking books, and so worthy of a Presidential apology to the murderers — wasn’t accepted.
And no, Karzai has yet to apologize to the US for the death of those troops.
Here’s Sarah Palin’s reaction — which is decidedly unnuanced and unpresidential: “Obama apologizes for the inadvertent Koran burning this week; now the U.S. trained and protected Afghan Army can apologize for killing two of our soldiers yesterday.”
Good thing we kept this state-schooled hoochie out of DC.
The wandering mind might even stumble upon G. W. Bush’s consignment of Afghanistan to the category of strategic backwater in terms of his view of the better means to prosecute a war on radical Islamic terrorists, in contradistinction to GENIUS Barack Obama’s insistence that only Afghanistan is the right place for making war on radical Islamists. Yet, it’s GENIUS Barack Obama who ends up retreating as fast as he can in humiliating defeat. In a less sanguine world, that would be funny. In this world, it’s a goddamned shame.
Exactly.
Which naturally means you should be soundly and unconditionally vilified here at home, JG. It’s the progg’s obligation to carry on the struggle no matter where the idiot finds it. TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOTS PREFER PEACE!
Had a most abrupt conversation with a life-long friend and progg yesterday about the failed Welfare State. The progg defense is 1) but things are never going back the way they were so deal, teabagger, 2) your late life is so gonna suck without welfare, and 3) don’t expose me to the fiscal facts that inevitably point to some ratio of systemic collapse and personal servitude to the State because my opinion is of equivalent merit.
I mean, how do you argue with that? How will you reason with the completely unreasonable?
Rather, how will you persuade the progg to value himself? Because they do not.
An unhelpful blogger-type person brings context to the Koran burning.
And, thus, I contemplate my retirement from the Armed Forces with just a bit less trepidation….My God, what an embarrassment.
Koranic paper means more to the CinC than American lives.
Fuck them and their holy book that’s worth more than people’s lives.
Speaking of feminine failure to nuance, this oldie-but-goodie from Ann Barnhardt seems appropriate.
And just for the lulz: http://www.truthorfiction.com/images/AnnBarnhardt2.jpg
“Kill them, beat them, take them as prisoners and teach them such a lesson that they never summon the courage to abuse the Holy Qur’an again”
In that order?
The causality is not strong with them.
Remember the contractors? Kos and his “screw ’em” comment? I believe in that instance they did kill them then beat them and then hang them up.
Backwards countries, backwards people, backwards time lines.
I’m tired of sanitary warring. You know who learned a lesson? Japan. And Germany.
And look we who else didn’t learn that lesson: Vladimir Putin.
To be fair, there’s been quite a lot of corpse mutilation done throughout history from Achilles dragging Hector around Troy to heads on spikes at Traitors Gate to Mogadishu and beyond. But, yes, it is backwards, barbaric, and deplorable.
Jeff, that kind of goes back to the concept of unconditional surrender. The only way for wars to really end is for the loser to know that they have been beaten and that they never want to go through it again.
Their faith is so strong that it can’t bear even the slightest insult.
Be more specific, McGehee: you talking about Muslims, AGWers, or progressives?
Obama (in leaked letter to Karzai) promises to hold those who burned the filthy Korans “accountable”.
Fuck him.
Is there a reason why I have to be talking about only one?
Achilles dragging Hector around Troy
As I recall, the gods punished Achilles for that bit of sacrilege with an arrow through the chinese-american in his invulnerablity clear-coating.
Leigh, perhaps that’s the shared sacrifice he’s always going on about.
I think maybe the Latter-Day Saints should start blowing shit up, and demanding that Obama apologize to Romney for making them do it. I mean, we’re on that path anyways; we might as well just cut to the chase.
Ernst, actually that’s how Achilles knew how to kill Hector, as Hector was wearing Achilles’ armor which he had taken off Patroclus after slaying him, and Achilles knew exactly where the chink in his own armor was.
I think you’re on to something, Squid. Catholics could start up the Crusades again.
Squid, a study in scarlet?

I am glad that could never happen in America…
Gingrich statement on this.
Maybe it is time to go LTC John, at least you won’t have to put up with nonsense like this anymore. Unless you go on to work in government, academia, or most businesses with more than 50 employees.
Squid: Romney is a pretty horrible example of what we stand for, sadly.
That’s as may be, Pellegri, though it wouldn’t change my delight at seeing Teh Won bowing and scraping before him.
LTC John, the problem is we would need officers like you to disobey the unconstitutional orders Obama will issue after November… or maybe before.
Oddly, as close as I am to the subject, I seem to be able to find out little about it. Is anyone talking about the fact that the books in question were in a position to be burned, because they had already been defaced?
It has been mentioned that they had been written in, RTO. But with even Obama saying that they were “inadvertently” burned and that it was a mistake, that aspect isn’t getting a lot of play.
Man that’s harsh, hence the “Ouch” linkage.
[…] …it’s the only way to be sure. […]
