Progressive math: Obama says Jobs plan can grow GDP 2% — at a cost of only 3%!

Which, isn’t that the same economic model Solyndra used?

Pointing out the disconnect is not partisanship or racism. To borrow from the President, it’s math.

Progressive Math: Because 3 – 2 = +5 sounds fair, and it just feels right and socially responsible.

That Zandi is such a whore. He’s never been right about anything, so he’s the darling of the partisan hack idiot who occupies the WH.

  3. cranky-d says:

Having the government pick winners and losers in the private sector has always worked so well before, why not try it again?

  4. sdferr says:

Kernan still peddles his “let’s spend five times Zandi’s number and get 10% growth! Who’s with me!!!?” everyday. It never gets old, if only because Zandi keeps sticking around.

    The Hill:

In a shock development Thursday evening, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) triggered a rarely-used procedural option informally called the “nuclear option” to change the Senate rules.

The Democratic leader had become fed up by Republican demands for votes on motions to suspend the rules after the Senate had voted to end a filibuster.

Reid said these motions, which do not need unanimous consent, amount to a second-round filibuster after the Senate has voted to move to final passage of a measure.

The surprise move stunned Republicans, who did not expect Reid to bring heavy artillery to what had been a hum-drum knife fight over amendments to China currency legislation.

  6. newrouter says:

“The maneuver is arcane but momentous. If a simple majority of the Senate votes with Reid and strikes down the ruling, the chamber’s precedent will be changed through the unilateral action of one party.

Republicans had considered using this maneuver, dubbed the “nuclear option,” in 2005 to change Senate rules to prohibit the filibuster of judicial nominees. Democrats decried the plan and the crisis was resolved by a bipartisan agreement forged by 14 rank-and-file senators known as the Gang of 14.

Senate Republicans were furious at Reid’s actions.

“Just wait until they get into the minority!” one GOP staffer growled.”

  7. sdferr says:

    Why? Because:

The package, which does not include modifications unveiled Wednesday by the Senate Democratic leadership, might not get a single vote, if history is a guide.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) executed a similar maneuver earlier this year when he forced a vote on Obama’s fiscal 2012 budget blueprint. It failed on a vote of 97-0.

boner – send the senate only bills dismantling the fed gov’t.

    Progressives are misjudging the moment

Emboldened by the protesters on Wall Street, progressive activists are starting to believe that the public is poised to embrace their ideology.

    […]

Progressives won’t succeed, because they have no answers to what is sure to be the nation’s most pressing challenge in the decades to come. What we’re witnessing is not a rebirth of progressivism, but a collective temper tantrum.

    I’d say that’s a pretty spot-on assessment.

Since my family’s business has been working lately with a solar company who does know their stuff and has been making reliable steps forward in alternative energy I am pissed at idiots like Solyndra who are ruining the field for everyone else. By being idiots.

Jobs bill, the Pelosi-math adds up perfectly.

  12. sdferr says:

It’s all very odd. Mr. Obama is acting as if his approval ratings are in the mid-60s instead of the low 40s. He’s acting as if Republicans fear him instead of Democrats like Senator Claire McCaskill, who no longer want to be seen with him. The president is acting like his agenda is popular rather than radioactive. He’s acting as if the public still cares what he thinks rather than having tuned him out long ago. And he’s acting as if Republicans will feel compelled to justify their opposition to this singularly inept chief executive and his failing presidency.

  13. geoffb says:

Odd or scary. Either Ulsterman’s White House insider is right and Obama is being kept “isolated and ignorant” or he has some ace (Enabling Act?) up his sleeve. Either is scary, just different scaries.
