"Obama Officials Tried to Convince S&P Not to Issue Credit Warning"

That’s right. Obama and his lackeys tried to use their influence to hide the dire economic circumstances of their profligate spending — essentially, to hide the truth from you.

And when ObamaCo aren’t doing it themselves, the media serves as its proxy in covering up the Administrations many machinations meant to aid in the “transformation” of our society into a tyranny headed by the Leviathan state.

Our country is under attack. Bloodless so far, but there are stirrings at the margins, as WI showed us. This is a coup attempt. And yet the GOP still lacks the political will to take any kind of provocative — or even principled — measures to protect our liberties, our property, our individual autonomy, or the fruits of our labor.

Obama is giving speeches in which he’s telling young people that the government can’t continue to spend more than it takes in. This, after having just fought the GOP on statistically insignificant cuts to a budget he proposed that includes $1.7 TRILLION in deficit spending.

And yet the leaders on our side can’t do anything with this? Why hasn’t John Boehner taken to the floor and said, in light of the President’s newly found fiscal sensibilities, he is going to scrap the unserious budget deal he brokered and re-introduce a budget proposal that cuts out that $1.7 TRILLION in deficit spending? After all, the President is going around essentially telling Congress this is what it needs to do.

Again, why does our leadership allow this President to run roughshod over them? To bully them?

Can no one here play this game?

What he develops is a new way of looking at the nature of both capitalism and socialism, by what he has called the theory and reality of “the mix,” in which both elements of capitalism and socialism arose together during the era of the birth of the modern large corporation. This principle, he argues, “cohered strongly with prevalent American political principles associated with republicanism and rooted in the traditions and experiences of the American Revolution.” Hence, when Sklar refers to socialism, in his terminology it is the very opposite of the kind of state-command economies that existed in what the world came to know as “socialism,” and indeed, is similar to what is now being defended today by the so-called Left of the political spectrum, including the Obama administration.

Jeff, as much as it pains me to say it, it’s this kind of faulty thinking that the shameless whores in DC are hearing.

Once in, we’re in — the numbers do not lie. The only way out is collapse.

In his speech on the debt crisis, Obama agreed — laying out his philosophy on the issue by explaining that we must “reduce spending in the tax code.” This mystifying phrase, I came to discover after a thorough investigation, translates to this: “Hey, let’s tax the rich because everyone hates those bastards anyway.” Here the president also explained that your earnings, if you manage to accumulate enough profit — presumably by robbing the needy, the elderly, the handicapped and the environment — by default, it belongs to the IRS. Keeping too much of yours, as Obama points out, is tantamount to taking it from Washington and, thus, those who really need it.

    The Corner asks:

If I were to try to convince a securities-rating firm not to disclose potentially damaging information about the finances of a corporation in which I had an interest, would that not be a crime? If the firm obliged, would not the SEC look askance? […]

S&P, bear in mind, is at the mercy of the federal government for its livelihood: Regulated institutions are required to use federally recognized credit-ratings agencies — it’s not AAA unless a Washington-approved firm says it’s AAA. If Washington should decide that S&P no longer qualifies to be a member of the ratings cartel, it’s basically out of business. It’s one thing to have an angry client threaten to take away his business, but a very different thing to have an angry government with the power to shut your business down making demands.

In large part, yes. There are some bright spots, though.

Can no one here play this game?

The Donald can. That’s why he’s blowing up the polls. People are starving for someone who gets it and isn’t afraid to say so.

Surely, we can do better than that. Right?

  16. Pablo says:

Reading up thread, the Hermanator can play too. But Baracky’s media doesn’t give the brother any love.

Oh, I know just who Trump is and if it comes up Donald v. Barack, I’m either voting 3rd Party or writing in Dagny Taggart. I’m just saying. Trump is blowing up for a reason, and we’d do well to take heed of it.

Yeah, and this is not his first dance. I just hope it’s 6 months and not a year. The Donald could screw things up pretty well, especially if he’s got that independent run stuck in his craw.

Serious question: at what point does this sort of naked intimidation become an impeachable offense?

*Surely, we can do better than that. Right?*

Exactly. We need a blunt speaker with much less of a sideshow past. I don’t take Trump seriously but he certainly is causing a stir on the left. The same stir could be caused by a straight candidate on the right. Its interesting (and maybe a little telling) that the GOP straight talkers like Ryan and Rubio are waiting until 2016 to make a run. I could see Paul Ryan winning in 2012 solely on the strength of his committment to cutting spending. Throw in a reformation and significantly shortening of the tax code and he’d be can’t miss.

Um, when a Republican does it?

Okay, that was not a serious answer. I don’t know the serious answer.
