"Poll: Obama's approval hits new low"

Revenge of the extremists!

Of course, it’s easy to answer a poll question. Or to cast a vote. Standing up to the intimidation and smear tactics of the organized left and their rent-a-mobs, or supporting the policies of the governors you elected once they take office and begin making the necessary cost cuts? That takes actual balls.

And I’m not sure Americans as a whole have those any more.

We’ll see, I guess.

I don’t know if balls are lacking so much as interest.

Most Americans (a distressing number that don’t even vote) are so desensitized to reality and consequences, and so persistent in their demand to be entertained, they are more concerned with American Idol than Governor Walker. Dancing with the stars is more important than that a third war front has been opened. Concern with their own self righteousness, demonstrated with support of entitlement programs against all reason, trumps concerning themselves with any future generations.

Americans, having no reference other than prosperity and security, have learned to take it for granted, even when promised “fundamental change” at the highest level.

To this great block of uninvolved citizens, politics is just the background noise of squabbling children, which always has been and always will be. Facebook is where it’s at baby!

I have resigned myself that things are going to have to get very bad indeed, before the sheep stampede.

Americans, as a whole, are still high up on Maslow’s hierarchy. When they slip…or think they will slip…then they will start to be more interested in the process.

  3. The stampede will not be pleasant. Nor predictable. Nor is there any guarantee it will result in a better outcome.

  4. AJB says:

Cutting middle-class benefits and privatizing public assets while giving handouts to rich people requires balls in much the same way shooting up orphanages requires balls.

    “privatizing public assets”

    GM, Chrysler “bailouts” anyone?

How’s permitting to expand an existing coal, gas or oil operation going these days?

  7. agile_dog says:

So are you suggesting we cut low-income benefits instead, AJB?

“Cutting middle-class benefits and privatizing public assets while giving handouts to rich people”

I’m middle class, and I’m being asked to increase my “donation” to wards of the government, for their benefit, not mine. Otherwise, I’m shooting orphans and drowning puppies or something.

If rise to upper middle class by capital venture (as opposed to scoring a healthy six figure government gig) then my profit is not my own, I’m only granted an allowance from it by the true owner, the IRS. As a handout. Riiigghhht…

Those in the public sector accept that all their income comes from the government, and proggs imagine government as the source of wealth.

And then they print money, borrow and steal like mad to prove it.

  10. McGehee says:

Speaking of GM, I doubt we’ll ever see that “asset” privatized.

Oblique references to vague policies? Check.
    Assertion of soi-disant expertise? Check.

    Terrible signal-to-noise? Check.

Yup — that’s our AJB! I wonder what he’s doing in this thread, though. It isn’t as though there were any real tricky policy arguments that require teasing out. Perhaps he’s just helping us to reinforce the necessity of decisive action.

  12. […] we take this as evidence of demoralization and disarray in Democrat ranks — combining it with Obama’s sagging poll numbers – this provides a strong argument against GOP leaders rolling over easy on the budget […]

    privatizing public assets

    What Abe said.

    Squid, you left out:

drive-by, shit stirring comment left and then abandoned to die on it’s lack of merit.

    DEATH THREAT.

JD, the Festering Rectal Fistula Anti-Defamation League just left a death threat in your voicemail. I think they mean it this time.

  17. McGehee says:

Oh, and the Bunghole of Humanity Anti-Defamation League wants to subscribe to your newsletter.

  18. JD says:

Fuckers. I am getting tired of them.

Tonight on TLC — “Shooting Up Orphanages Requires Balls” — (episode three-point-whatever)

Armed only with his trusty musket, stand amazed as AJB’s continuing safari in search of the rogue orphanage uncovers… ?

He’d have to develop his repertoire a bit before he could be Patterico.

  22. ThomasD says:

I’m not exactly sure what AJB has been shooting up, but I sincerely hope he’s using clean works.

  23. JD says:

AJB – how did you manage to condense that much stupidity into one small question?

  24. geoffb says:

    Definitions:

“Middle Class” = Public sector union employees

“Rich people” = Small business owners, what used to be called the “bourgeois”

  25. geoffb says:

    Obama ♥s base.

  26. alppuccino says:

Don’t forget, Obama’s approval zeros out at 12.5%

  27. JD says:

Has AJB/Yelverton ever defended a position, or does it just regurgitate thinkregress mediamatterz talking points?

  28. Squid says:

He’s been pretty adamant that we’re all stupid poopyheads.
