The Okie Doke

“Obama Launches Rule Review, Pledging to Spur Jobs, Growth”.

Uh huh.

Between this, his Tucson speech, and his new-found religiosity, we’re watching the machinations of a long con. Seeing “pragmatic” conservatives tripping all over themselves to fall for it a second time? Oddly bemusing — if remarkably surreal.

Stabbing with a knife in one hand and stanching the wounds with a blood mop in the other hand. Peachy.

  2. B. Moe says:

The president said the government sometimes failed to meet its “basic responsibility to protect the public interest,”

    Where to even start…

Another okie doke, according to Rahm:

I came up with an idea for an executive order to allow the Stupak Amendment not to exist by law but by executive order, and it was good enough that Nancy Pelosi, Jan Schakowsky – here in Chicago, Rosa DeLauro, Anna Eshoo – a number of women who are held – Nita Lowey – who are held up as honors by people like NARAL and Planned Parenthood, who supported that bill and supported the way to make progress.

The move is the latest effort by the White House to repair relations with corporate America, hoping to spur investment by the nation’s largest multinationals and reduce unemployment.

It’s not about flexing one’s regulatory muscles to remind the capitalists of who’s really in charge. It’s not about shaking down the moneyed interests to make them support the right people and things. It’s not about showing a bit of carrot to distract people from the whopping great stick they’ve been beaten with. It’s not about bringing Main Street in line the way they did Wall Street.

No, it’s “repairing relations.” Got it? Good.

Talk talk talk. This is all these assholes do. Yea. Sure. He’s gonna get ride of regulation. Except, of course, the GOOD regulation. They’re just gonna get rid of the bad stuff. Obama’s got an EXECUTIVE ORDER and they are going to REVIEW this stuff.

    I’m so farking impressed.

    From comments over there:

The article states: “The Business Roundtable, an association of chief executives of many of the largest U.S. corporations, last year compiled a 54-page report that includes proposals to streamline rules proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Federal Communications Commission, among scores of others.”

It is apparent that this Obama initiative is just a political action, otherwise he could have taken action already on the year-old proposals from the roundtable. What a coincidence that he now seems interested after the November elections.

  8. Bob Reed says:

    Unbelievable…

When are these folks going to realize that Obama is who we thought he was before the mid-term “shellacking”.

This guy’s triangulating so furiously we should call him Pythagorous, especially since they both founded their own religions.

But as with all else, Obama’s triangles are fundamentally obtuse.

  9. Joe says:

Obama is like some retarded hybrid of LBJ’s economic entitlement policy and Jimmy Carter’s mojo.

Talking of LBJ: This is completely off topic, other than it involves a President of the United States.

But it is made out of awesome.
