Oh man. I just heard the intro to that song sampled by someone and spent about an hour looking for the original on line but couldn’t remember the name.
Geez, Rafferty? Baker’s Street one of my all time faves …. among my bag of 8 tracks that got lost in one of many moves along with Harry Chapin and Moody Blues …
Anne Francis (Honey West – who I wanted to be!) died Sunday.
The same thing happened in Baltimore, Maryland the other day. A flock of birds seemed to hit a glass wall and just dropped out of the sky dead. The falling birds actually caused a traffic accident.
Read the Guardian obit and was immediately transported back to Spinal Tap, listening to David St. Hubbins and Nigel Tufnel reminiscing about being in the Lovely Lads, the Originals, The New Originals and The Thamesmen.
No disrespect intended. Beautiful voice, and now knowing all the torture makes it even sweeter.
If you haven’t already done so, buy Rafferty’s greatest hits CD, or at least download the thing.

Right Down The Line
Stuck In The Middle (Damn you, Tarentino!!)
We rocked to his stuff in HS/College.
R.I.P. Gerry. Thanks for the cool tunes and theme music for memorable times.
They come faster now, don’t they. Ow.
Hell on the birds, too…
The most gorgeous saxophone solo in all of rock, IYAM.
