If you haven’t already done so, buy Rafferty’s greatest hits CD, or at least download the thing.

    Man. I’m bummed.

  2. Oh man. I just heard the intro to that song sampled by someone and spent about an hour looking for the original on line but couldn’t remember the name.

Geez, Rafferty? Baker’s Street one of my all time faves …. among my bag of 8 tracks that got lost in one of many moves along with Harry Chapin and Moody Blues …

Anne Francis (Honey West – who I wanted to be!) died Sunday.

I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever listened to this song past the intro before. But I’ve probably heard the intro a hundred times.

    How does that happen?

One of the best mellow-class songs I ever really liked.

‘This city-desert makes you feel so cold, it’s got
So many people but it’s got no soul’

Nails it at so many levels.

    What bh said.

  7. Pablo says:

That sucks, though it had been coming for some time. God rest Ye, Gerry, and thanks for the tunes.

    Right Down The Line

Stuck In The Middle (Damn you, Tarentino!!)

  8. Bob Reed says:

We rocked to his stuff in HS/College.

R.I.P. Gerry. Thanks for the cool tunes and theme music for memorable times.

  9. JHoward says:

They come faster now, don’t they. Ow.

  10. serr8d says:

    Hell on the birds, too…

The same thing happened in Baltimore, Maryland the other day. A flock of birds seemed to hit a glass wall and just dropped out of the sky dead. The falling birds actually caused a traffic accident.

  11. The most gorgeous saxophone solo in all of rock, IYAM.

Read the Guardian obit and was immediately transported back to Spinal Tap, listening to David St. Hubbins and Nigel Tufnel reminiscing about being in the Lovely Lads, the Originals, The New Originals and The Thamesmen.

No disrespect intended. Beautiful voice, and now knowing all the torture makes it even sweeter.
