"Pelosi has pocketed nearly twice as much lobbyist cash as Boehner"

Just so’s you know:

from 1999 until today, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, Boehner has raised $299,490 from lobbyists.

For comparison, Harry Reid, Blanche Lincoln, and Chuck Schumer have each raised more money from lobbyists in this cycle alone.

This election cycle, Boehner is not even in the top 20 recipients of lobbyist cash. He’s raised less than $40,000 from lobbyists this cycle — compared to Nancy Pelosi’s $71,000 from lobbyists.

Sure, Boehner is too close too lobbyists, but the money trail says he isn’t closer than Nancy Pelosi.

And the New York Times wonders why it’s a big bag of fail.

Journalism.

    But Boehner smokes! AND GOLFS!

But, but… Boehner’s a Republican! He’s waaay worse, BECAUSE OF THE HYPOCRISY!

  3. JD says:

MONIED SPECIAL INTERESTS are always conservative, dontcha know?

#3 – I thought Wesley Clark finished that question once and for all… you know its those New York Moneymen!

I believe LTC John might be talking about the Joooooooooooooos.

Progressives and their ilk are idiots. Yeah, let’s blame a people who have survived and thrived in just about every country on the planet (I’m probably exaggerating, but let’s run with it anyway), until the local population decides that their wealth is due to theft rather than hard work and good education and starts killing them. As I’ve said to many within earshot, I wish they were “running things” since I’m sure the result would be better than what we have now.

  6. Rusty(soontohaveanawsomeandlessconfusingnewname) says:

Boy. AJB is gonna be pissed. Or not. He seems to be able to justify any progg behavior as being not as bad as conservative behavior.

  7. Let’s not forget the $200 million in no-bid govt contracts Pelosi has steered to companies she and/or her family have an interest in.

  8. alppuccino says:

…….and lest we forget that Pelosi is a weather worn old dried up cunt-bag that’s too tattered to hold any more cunt – with two big plastic eyes sewn on it.

  9. Lamontyoubigdummy says:

    Attention milk cartons.

    MISSING: Nancy Pelosi. September 8th, 2010 – November 2, 2010

FOUND: Nancy Pelosi. November 3rd, 2010. Coming down off a botox/whippet bender, she gavels in the lame duck session.

May God have mercy on our souls.

  10. Big Bang Hunter says:

AP wire service, 11/3/10. “Outgoing speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi(D-CA) Handed over the gavel today, stepping down to be replaced by John Boehner (R-OH) in a short ceremony on the Senate floor. Boehner, GOP minority whip, thanked her as she rushed away to her office.

Insiders say she retreated quickly, fearing she’d break into tears from the loss of her position and couldn’t afford the possibility that all the botox throughout her face would dissolve and slide down around her ankles.”…..in other news…

nah she’ll keep it til january

  12. Name (required) says:

We should all be very grateful to Nancy.

If the Democrats, in their spasm of electoral euphoria, had not elevated that psychotic statist to the speakership, Americans would not be looking forward to the impending political death of the Democrat Party.

I, her military Gulfstream pilots, and all seven Democrats left in the house, will miss her.

  13. Bob Schieffer says:

    Nancy Pelosi?
    Who’s that?

    I’ve been on vacation.

  14. Charlie Gibson says:

    Nancy who?
    Never heard of her.

  15. happyfeet says:

The most likely scenario after a Republican takeover would be for Pelosi to step down, with Hoyer replacing her. But the idea of a clean sweep of Democratic leadership — forcing out all the elected leaders — is clearly being considered by the rank and file.

If we lose it badly, Pelosi would have to leave, as might the whole leadership team,” said a veteran House Democrat, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.*

Team R on the other hand will keep the same tattered whores in leadership forever and ever and ever

  16. proudvastrightwingconspirator says:

Granny McRictus BoTox will suffer the ultimate humiliation of remaining in the House and watching a new conservative majority undo or defund much of her work from the last 22 months.
She may just retire and run for Mayor of SF.

The Granola Queen can then preside over the land of nuts, fruits and flakes.

  17. Joe says:

Rush gave Boehner a pass today on the middle class tax cuts (vs. the higher salary cuts the Dems tried to work around). They were hoping Boehner would say all or nothing on the record, but he refused to walk into the ambush. Rush noted that the Dems were trying to set up Boehner for an attack ad.

  18. Joe says:

We only undue the work of the last 22 months if Obama is drummed out of office in 2012. Otherwise you need a veto proof majority, which is not going to happen anytime soon.

  19. Slartibartfast says:

If you think Boehner is on the take from the securities and financial sector, just go check out Chuck Schumer.

And then consider how heavily on the take from lawyers the D leadership is, and what that implies.

There’s nothing like more laws to keep lawyers busy.

  20. JD says:

They don’t call themselves the Trial Lawyers anymore. They have some cute justice euphemism now.

  21. B Moe says:

WHY DOES THE NEW YORK TIMES HATE ORANGE PEOPLE!!!1!!!!!!!

  22. Slartibartfast says:

I was wondering about the orange thing, so I googled it, and got this:

But these last few, these last self-tanners, are slaves to neither the sun nor the moon. They honor the mighty spray-on tan that most mortals abandoned 15 years ago. And their standard-bearer is one brave Ohioan named John Boehner.

But, oops, wrong on the “most mortals abandoned” part. Maybe her Google is broken.

  23. Carin says:

The WSJ doesn’t give Boehner the pass.

Boehner may have worried that he couldn’t hold his Members on the floor against such a vote—though he’ll find that all the harder now. He’s also made it more difficult for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to hold his 41 Members against the tax increase. If even Mr. Boehner and House Republicans running in safe seats in a great GOP year won’t hold out for universal tax relief, why should Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins?
    ****
As for Mr. Boehner, this stumble on the easy issue of taxation in the best GOP year since 1994 makes us wonder if he’s ready for prime time.

  24. Slartibartfast says:

Same article out in the open here.

  25. Slartibartfast says:

    Damn. PW ate my comment.

Short version: NYT is absolutely fucked in the head for this hit-job. They can run this while completely ignoring that Chuck Schumer has taken at least twice as much money from each of the largest financial institutions you can name (Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and JP Morgan Chase, Bear Stearns, just to name a few) than Boehner has taken from any one donor.

So: piss off, you feckless, careless journalist-poseurs. Come back when you can do better research than I can in 5 minutes using Google.

  26. Jeff says:

If you can do better research, you’ll find that PACs also peddle influence and ‘Boner’ has taken way more PAC money than Pelosi. Boner cashes in on tobacco, pharms, insurance, banks and finance, etc…

  27. B Moe says:

Did y’all get that? He said way more!

  28. B Moe says:

Way more is like more than a lot more, but not as much as a whole lot more.

I think. Math is hard sometimes.

  30. sdferr says:

It’s best if so called citizens not associate to make their political opinions known really, don’t you think? They should all just shut up and sit quietly listening to their betters like Jeff there.

  31. Squid says:

I think Jeff is bucking for a position at the vaunted NYT, what with his well-researched and informative contribution.

  32. Carin says:

Way more is, like, a very persuasive argument. Orange words? Not needed.

“Jeff” won me over when he called Boehner “Boner” – that’s some cleverness right there.

  33. ak4mc says:

Waymore had a reputation as a ladies’ man.

  34. Slartibartfast says:

Over this election cycle, Boehner has declared about 50% more PAC money than has Pelosi.

But Steny Hoyer has very close to double Pelosi’s PAC contributions. Hoyer and Pelosi are roughly two-thirds PAC by funding, while Boehner is more like one-third.

“Jeff”, tell me some more about your ace researching skills.

  35. ak4mc says:

Don’t bother Slarti. Waymore can’t seem to find any fiscal data going back more than two years.

  36. ak4mc says:

…and this would just look like hieroglyphics to him.

  37. Slartibartfast says:

Career-wise, all of them work out to roughly a 50/50 PAC/Individual ratio. Boehner does have a 9% (vs 5% for Pelosi and Hoyer) mysterious “Other” category that opensecrets doesn’t explain.

But Boehner is inherently more evil, because, well, he just IS.

  38. sdferr says:

Well jeez McG, hieroglyphics are at least quasi-intelligible, what with pictures of birds and urns and men with hooked staves and sheaves of grain and so on.

  39. JD says:

This is disturbing, to say the least.

  41. JD says:

Slarti – It takes all of about 30 seconds on opensecrets to find out that William the plagiarist Yelverton is fucking lying lying lying again. I used to think he was at least a competent liar, but it turns out that he is not competent, just prolific.

So you think its best to keep the Democrats in instead of replacing them with the Republicans and then hounding the Republicans to do better?

If so, do you realize that counseling defeat and surrender makes you, objectively speaking, pro-staist Democrat?

Do you have any worthwhile and suggestions, suggestions that are possible or are you just one giant bag of epic loser-fail whine?
