Pelocchio CIA Lying Claims Investigation Rejected [Dan Collins]

House Democrats on Thursday defeated a Republican push to investigate House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s claims that the CIA misled her in 2002 about whether waterboarding had been used against terrorism suspects.

The House voted 252-172 to block the measure that would have created a bipartisan congressional panel. Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, sponsored the resolution.

“This is partisan politics and an attempt by the Republicans to distract from the real issue of creating jobs and making progress on health care, energy and education,” said Pelosi spokesman Nadeam Elshami.

Gee, who wanted a Truth Commission again?

Nice: Congress gives Obama cover for not closing GITMO and Obama’s forward-looking-but-blaming-everything-on-Bush speech gives Congress cover for not pursuing the spurious charges of its Democratic members regarding the WOT.

Right, because Republican lawmakers clearly have no interest in creating jobs.

Granted, they’d better believe that they have no business making “progress” on health, energy, or education – at least as Dems define “progress.”

There’s no way they actually believe the shit they’re peddling, is there? Do they really have that much contempt for Americans? I’m pretty sure that was rhetorical.

  2. Andrew the Noisy says:

The upshot is that Pelosi is merely wounded, not dead. Which may be the way Steny likes her.

The MSM, meanwhile, will pretend this never happened.

  3. Rob Crawford says:

Wait. Since when does Congress create jobs?

Where is that in the fucking Constitution?

  4. lee says:

    Rob, since 1/20/09.

    We’re all socialists now, remember?

Crazy Nancy is being appeased and led away from the family dinner table after disrupting every one in attendence. Eventually she will have to be put down, but not yet.

  7. mojo says:

The next time she shows her face on the floor, all the Republicans should start going “BWAK bwak bwak…”

Time was that bullshit would have gotten vomitous Elshami and her vomitous boss promptly thrown out. Time was. Today we (meaning they) revel in it.

You’re a liar, Elshami. Rather, this is a responsible attempt by the Republicans to dispense with liars, cheats, and frauds precisely as the very system and their constituents demand they do. You pathetic boss has not the slightest right to dick up health care, energy and education any more than her ilk clearly have already.

  9. B Moe says:

So are we to assume the Democrats don’t care that the CIA are liars then?

  12. Macswain says:

Uhm … this wasn’t a vote for a Truth Commission as this post falsely suggests. You might want to read the language of what was actually voted on.

Your snark suggests you favor a Truth Commission … so how ’bout ridiculing the Republicans that won’t agree to one.

  13. Dan Collins says:

Macswain, who wanted a Truth Commission? I’m not implying anything. I’m saying, suddenly those people have changed their minds.

BTW, where’s Leahy on this issue, now, do you think? Call his office.

  14. Dan Collins says:

I mean, could it be that Republicans thought their time could be better spent?

We could claim Pelosi was hoist on her own petard, and this genius would start lecturing us about 17th century explosives.

  17. Kirk says:

On the bright side this vote does sound an awful lot like the Dems are telling the old bat to sit down and shut up. Which would be good advice for her.
