More Former Guantanamerans Land Jobs [Dan Collins]

The success stories just keep piling up; it’s two guys, not just one. It’s nice to know that they haven’t been stigmatized by their time behind bars in the Amerikkkan Gulag, and that in this time of rising unemployment they’ve found meaningful work.

Two men released from the US “war on terror” prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba have appeared in a video posted on a jihadist website, the SITE monitoring service reported.

One of the two former inmates, a Saudi man identified as Abu Sufyan al-Azdi al-Shahri, or prisoner number 372, has been elevated to the senior ranks of Al-Qaeda in Yemen, a US counter-terrorism official told AFP.

Three other men appear in the video, including Abu al-Hareth Muhammad al-Oufi, identified as an Al-Qaeda field commander. SITE later said he was prisoner No. 333.

Al-Qaeda flummoxed by Obama, afraid they’ll be labelled racist:

The torrent of hateful words* is part of what terrorism experts now believe is a deliberate, even desperate, propaganda campaign against a president who appears to have gotten under al-Qaeda’s skin. The departure of George W. Bush deprived al-Qaeda of a polarizing American leader who reliably drove recruits and donations to the terrorist group.

This article is so omnistupid that I don’t even know where to begin. Suffice it to say, the analysts quoted in this piece of journalistic pimping to coprophages are so enamored of The One that they think that his hopichanginess in and of itself presents a challenge to the power of al-Qaeda to incite hatred against Amerikkka. The article ends with the traditional lowering of expectations disclaimer.

One thing is crystal clear, though: no matter what Obama does, he won’t be responsible for creating more terrorists than he’s killing, the way Booooooosh was. Meanwhile, he has disconstered them by virtue of his sheer quidditas.

* To be distinguished from happy sentiments, such as all the Israeli Jews bobbing lifelessly in the sea

Also disconcerting: The Wiggles are back, and their leader is black

Give this man a supermax:

“There are thousands of dangerous prisoners being held securely behind bars in supermax prisons across the United States,” Mr. Murtha said Friday. He noted, however, that there was no supermax facility in his district.

Just think of all the non-whites who could be employed building it.

Rahm in the media:

Early this month, Barack Obama was meeting with the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, and other lawmakers when Rahm Emanuel, his chief of staff, began nervously cracking a knuckle.

Mr. Obama then turned to complain to Mr. Emanuel about his noisy habit.

At which point, Mr. Emanuel held the offending knuckle up to Mr. Obama’s left ear and, like an annoying little brother, snapped off a few special cracks.

*******

This is someone who once wrote in Campaign and Elections magazine that “the untainted Republican has not yet been invented” and who two years ago — according to a book about Mr. Emanuel (“The Thumpin’ ” by Naftali Bendavid) — announced to his staff that Republicans are “bad people who deserve a two-by-four upside their heads.”

*******

“He’s more temperate now,” said David Axelrod, a senior White House adviser and longtime Emanuel friend who dismissed much of his flamboyant reputation as “pure myth.” Mr. Axelrod added, “A lot of it is a reputation he earned as a younger guy.”

[Pure myth? Should fit right in.]

*******

In meetings, it is not uncommon for Mr. Obama and Mr. Emanuel to engage in teasing banter. One White House official recalls an exchange last week in which Mr. Obama said something to the effect of, “Well, I was going to do that, but I didn’t want Rahm to mope for a half-hour.”

[It’s nice to see the intimacy.]

No word about the trip to Africa. Maybe it was yellowcake stuff.

Maybe George Mitchell should look into this.

By jerking off monkies and artificially inseminating pigs?

You know it’s important that a President not be bound by the law. Wiggle room is a necessity.

And dissent is no longer patriotic.

And is a love of show trials similar to a love of show tunes? I’m just saying is all…

  2. kaz says:

A leftie claiming their time in Gitmo “made” them become terrorists and it’s all Boooosh’s fault in 3…2…1…

On a similar note, I saw Jay Rockefeller yesterday denouncing the advice given Obama by Cheney and Cheney’s suggestion that enhanced interrogations made us safer. You see, waterboarding makes America less safe. What Cheney simply doesn’t understand, and Obama understands all too well, is that treating jihadis unkindly makes more and more people want to become jihadis.

I’m sure that Rockefeller knows this because of all the captured jihadis who told us they were ordinary average guys who wouldn’t hurt a fly until they heard about the panties on the head and then they felt compelled to blow themselves up with a bunch of Yankees.

  4. AKA Pablo says:

Once they know that Obama loves them, it’s all gonna be good. Move over, Mohammad. There’s a new prophet in town.

  5. Carin says:

Baracky’s gonna use diplomacy and make it all better. Let all the Gitmo guys go home!

Why, Al-Queda luvs ’em some Obama! Don’t you know that Obama bin Laden is ready for a truce, now that hop-n-change has come to Earth..?

They just might never get a single new recruit, especially after the ministry of love and department of peace show everyone just how benevolent we really are, in the age of Obama…

I mean, we don’t TORTURE!1!11!eleventy!!111!! anymore…Why would they hate us..?

We have empathy and love for all; and we’ll allow them nuclear weapons too-what a bonus!

Warwick and the Wapo sraff typing chimps have truly shown that they are imbiciles with this one…

And the newsweek piece? Well I could have told you that the rules of hope-n-change sisn’t actually apply to the one! himself, if necessary; I wonder how that’ll be recieved by the code pinko and nutroot community..?

Just as they’ll most likely see nothing hypocritical or otherwise wrong with it, neither will the media. After all, a mere smile from the one! will melt their opposition to our way of life and resolve to secrecy…

Obama missiles blow jihadis up with love and respect. Not like those degrading Bush missiles. I hear they’re going to rename the Predators. I know I’d feel a lot better about being turned into a pink mist by the new Lightbringer drones.

  8. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

I hear they’re going to rename the Predators.

    Predator = Herbivore.
    Hellfire = Earth Stove.

  9. Bob Reed says:

    Pablo,
    You’re a bit mixed up friend…

They’ll be called Unicorn drones; the Hellfire missles will hence be called Lightbringers

Just thought I’d clear up the nomenclature for you…

    Kittens-of-the-sky.

  11. AKA Pablo says:

So, how many civilians has Baracky murdered so far? I’ll bet they’re keeping track over at Daily Kos.

The David Dinkins method of crime control will now be applied to to control international terrorism because it worked so well in NYC from 1990 to 1993.

  13. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

is that treating jihadis unkindly makes more and more people want to become jihadis.

Treating Nazis unkindly makes more and more people want to become Nazis.

Treating pirates unkindly makes more and more people want to become pirates.

Treating rapists unkindly makes more and more people want to become rapists.

    Sure, makes sense to me!

And on the small arms end of the spectrum, maybe this?

al-Qaeda has embarked on a propaganda campaign against Obama, not only by linking him to the policies of the Bush administration

al-Qaeda never used to make me giggle before. This would be change.

  18. alppuccino says:

I’m glad the Obama-Rahma is having fun with the whole “leaders of the free world” thing. It should be fun. You know, knuckle-cracking and banter. Didn’t Fonzie crack his knuckles? Richie the C supplied the banter. Sunday, Monday, happy days………..

  19. SmokeVanThorn says:

Does treating conservatives unkindly make more and more people want to be conservatives?

  20. happyfeet says:

Baracky is so out of his league it’s really hard to get my head around it. Scary.

  21. happyfeet says:

I wish Baracky was a little bit taller, I wish he was a baller. I wish he had a girl who looked good cause I would call her, I wish he had a rabbit in a hat with a bat and a ’64 Impala I think.

  22. AKA Pablo says:

And on the small arms end of the spectrum, maybe this?

That is hilarious and so is the comment thread. In related news, someone’s been shooting Miami up with an AK-47, one of those evil assault rifles. The TV coverage and the Mayor’s blathering were heavy on how awful those things are and how they need to be taken off the streets. Of course, the fact that if it was truly an AK (full-auto) it’s already illegal was not mentioned.

  23. Sdferr says:

“He kills your brothers and sisters in Gaza mercilessly and without affection,” an al-Qaeda spokesman declared

Well, better that than killing them with kindness, I guess.

  24. AKA Pablo says:

No, no. Baracky loves and respects the splodeydopes whle he’s killing them. It’s a new way forward.

  25. Sdferr says:

On Friday, the new administration signaled that it intends to continue at least one of Bush’s controversial counterterrorism policies: allowing CIA missile strikes on alleged terrorist hideouts in Pakistan’s autonomous tribal region.

Does any one remember where cruise-missile strikes in Pakistan have been controversial and with whom? That is, outside the Northwest Provinces of Pak itself?

  26. Sdferr says:

Anti-Soviet forces backed by America after Moscow’s 1979 invasion of Afghanistan later mutated into al Qaeda.

See, now that right there is a goddamned lie. Some anti-Soviet forces mutated into al Qaeda, very few in fact. Many anti-Soviet forces allied to the US opposed al Qaeda ab initio and fought them and continue to fight them for all they’re worth. I despise this sort of shit journalism.

  27. WaPo love with Obama continues…

His ‘blackness,’ according to the WaPo, is causing Al Qaeda problems:
Soon after the November election, al-Qaeda’s No. 2 leader took stock of America’s new president-elect and dismissed him with an insulting epithet. “A ho…

  28. Obstreperous Infidel says:

Two great points, Sdferr. I have that argument all the time with people at work in regards to, “oh yeah! We created Osama! We created Al Queda!”. The truth doesn’t matter.

  29. SteveG says:

Don’t laugh when $2B gets earmarked to Murtha’s district to “study” whether a Supermax could be built there and another $22B for its construction there.

  30. Sdferr says:

If they must be brought into the United States, put the Guantanameran Jihadis in Alcatraz, John Boehner has suggested. Y’know, the more I think about his proposal, the more it makes damned good sense. Of course it has been dismissed out of hand by Spkr. Pelosi but I don’t think she has the final say in the matter, and besides, her opinion isn’t exactly unprejudiced or untainted by self-interest, is it? We’re told we all have to sacrifice. San Franciscans can start right here. They’d be doing the rest of us a big solid.

    God I hope so.
