There’s no such thing as free speech

…which, for Democrats, is a feature! Fresh on the heels of Obama’s decision to have several newspapers who endorsed McCain removed from his plane, there’s this: “FCC Probe Signals Democratic Attack Machine”:

A Federal Communications Commission investigation of on-air military analysts is providing a glimpse of what Democrats and an Obama administration will do to critics once they capture Washington.

The FCC has sent letters to some of the nation’s most prominent military analysts — some of them pro-President Bush and pro-war — suggesting they may have broken the law when they appeared on television stations to comment on and explain the war on terrorism.

The FCC investigation raises the question of whether a Democrat-controlled Congress and White House next year will investigate — and perhaps criminalize — all sorts of actions taken by the Bush administration.

This must be that “post-partisanship” I’ve been hearing so much about.

Bitchin.’ I’m going to love Obamaland!

question-why’d u kick me off the flying manger?
answer-the grass stains on ur second hand slacks

  2. Well “post-partisanship” means no partisanship, therefore no other party.

There must be a secular mathmatical fuction someone could write up for nixing 25 million malcontents.

  3. Carin says:

Well, I’m sure once Obama can make being a right-winger illegal, he’ll be happy to reach across the isle with what’s left. Noonan, Buckley and friends. Let’s not forget, nishi and thor claim to be conservative. Those are the types of conservatives Baracky can be bipartisan with.

They better keep plenty of oral fissure emollient on hand.

  5. BJTexs says:

Oh, it’s all about being a compassionate conservative. Not in the inconvenient 10% to church and/or charities but in your abiding commitment to smart, sharing government programs to those in government designated need. I know that this didn’t work for Bush but as long as you don’t fight any wars against people who attack America and don’t offer any selfish and unpatriotic tax cuts then all of you should be OK in the new order.

Besides I always shared my toys in kindergarten.

  6. pdbuttons says:

    could we share my pee-
    in the sand-box?
    cuz when u positively-absolutely have to make a castle…
    wet sand works the best

  7. BJTexs says:

All the sandboxes will be confiscated and turned into mud wrestling pits chock full of bikini clad warriors. Your offer of charity is unnecessary. The masses must be entertained and distracted.

  8. Carin says:

Fuck the compassionate conservatives. I’m with Nancy Reagan on this. “Kinder and gentler than whom?”

If you’ve displayed a McCain/Palin sign in your yard this year, I suggest you get your affairs in order. The IRS swings a big club.

  10. Merovign says:

Of course this doesn’t bother Obama supporters. I mean, what do they actually have to say anyway?

  11. BJTexs says:

I don’t know, Merovign. Snap up the Fairness Doctrine and envision Rush Limbaugh and Randi Rhodes side by side holding forth.

    Makes me giggle.

  12. pdbuttons says:

rush and randi-face down in the gutter.
    it’s all good..
    cuz i’m an ‘ass-man’

  13. EW says:

Could the liberal illuminati really go after people in the Bush administration and other crazy conservatives? It just seems like there could be a bit of a witch hunt if this starts to goes down.

The Communications Act of 1934 is loooong.

The pertineint provisions seem to be Sections 317 and 507 which require that an announcement be made to inform that a spokesperson has received payment or services. I’m not aware of any payment made to these analysts and it seems that any investigation is without a leg to stand on.

    Except to generate a controversy.

Um, that’s not really a free speech problem, its not like there’s a fairness doctrine to accessing the obama campaign plane.

“This must be that “post-partisanship” I’ve been hearing so much about.”

The clearest sign of post-partisanship would be that there is a republican in charge of hte FCC.

There is also one in charge of the Justice Department, yet ACORN shows little fear of being held to answer for its crimes. There is also one in charge of the State Department, yet the diplomats supposedly serving our country show little interest in carrying out our policy.

  21. happyfeet says:

I’d settle for one in charge of the RNC.

Not quite a group that intimidates easily, military commentators. Retired Generals, Colonels, etc.
I suspect this will get most then to nut up, and really let fly. Heck, I’d waive payment just to lay it out and tell it like it is…FCC be damned.

  23. Mikey NTH says:

    #22 Maj. John:

You have something there. My history readings tell me that while certain officers may lack ability, they certainly do not lack ego. And i think that briefing someone who is retired and is now an analyst is sort of saying ‘this is for dissemination’.
