My Bastard [Dan Collins]

Congresscritters run locally for national office, as the Founding Fathers intended. Lots of people agree that YOUR Congresscritters really suck. Theirs suck, too, mind you, but they suck on behalf of the people of their sucky districts. So, it pretty much represents a sucky Prisoner’s Dilemma sucky clusterfuck.

Not that you didn’t know that. I just felt compelled to lay it all out in my usual orotund style.

Biden: Buying up those botoxic assets

Good to have you back here as well as in the pub.

Orotund. I’ll have to look that one up.

  2. Dan Collins says:

Thanks, Geezer, but it’s only till Jeff is back up to speed, which likely will be today.

  3. Pablo says:

    Two words – Patrick Kennedy.

    Yeah, my guy sucks.

  4. Sdferr says:

The banks just forced to take the government’s (our) money found themselves in a Prisoner’s dilemma, hence the coercive ordering by an outside agency. Dilemma solved.

To what outside agency might voters look to solve their problem? Well, first they’d have to see that they have a problem. I’m not sure that they have yet. But then what? The last such outside agency I can remember was al Qaeda. Is there another some such in the offing?

  5. happyfeet says:

Mine is Mr. Howard Berman. He sort of takes the whole deal for granted and just does what the studios tell him mostly. One day he will die in office and we will get a new Howard Berman. The new one will be younger and have better hair. The new one probably won’t be Jewish though. I doubt there will be any religion involved at all.

  6. SevenEleventy says:

Adam Putman is my representative. I did not vote for the jerk, and never will. His major legislative claim to fame is, “National Watermelon Month”!

  7. BJTexs says:

    TWO. WORDS.—– TERM LIMITS

Like nuking targets from orbit it’s the only way to be sure. 2 Senate, 4 house, see ya later in the movies. Just like the founders envisioned, only with force of law.

    Who’s with me? LET’S GOOOOOOOOOO!

    RACIST!!!

Yeah, and I wear white after Labor Day, so obviously I’m racist and gauche!

  11. Sdferr says:

Well, ok, if we ought to name names, Cornelius Alexander McGillicuddy III, not the sharpest tool in the drawer. I can easily make do without him.

Used to have Porter Goss though (one of the most unfairly shafted politicians in the last thirty years, I think), who I wouldn’t have given up for anyone.

But should Ryan (Wi), Flake (Az) or another of that sort of decent pol get thrown out to be replaced by a stooge?

  12. nwoods says:

I’ve had some real winners. “The Cutest Little Commie In Congress”, Cynthia McKinney for a while. Currently it’s John Lewis. I denounce myself as RACIST! for wishing he be defeated. Afterall, if John Lewis says John McCain=George Wallace, he being of “Absolute Moral Authority”, then John McCain=George Wallace. Who am I to question?

  13. geoffb (JARAIP) says:

If I was a liberal I’d have a complaint about my Representative but as a conservative I don’t.

My district, MI-7, was served for many years by a good conservative, Nick Smith who stepped down in 2004. A liberal Republican got on the ballot and won in 2004. In 2006 the conservatives in district ran a conservative Republican (Tim Walberg) against him in the primary and won. He then went on to win the seat and now is running for reelection.

My bastard was thrown out in 2006, been there done that. Where’s my t-shirt?

  14. BJTexs says:

pdbuttons: I grew up in Fairhaven and lived in Mattapoisett so I’m familiar with Studds. Met him several times. Extremely bright guy with a moral vacuum. I weep for you and Pablo with regards to the politicians that state has elected. BTW: How’s that Gov. Duval Patrick working out? Real fiscal conservative, that one.

Chester County, PA has Jim Gerlach, who’s actually pretty decent. Rick Santorum took a royal screwing a few years ago so I’m stuck with Bob Casey and (shudder) Arlen Spector. I may register Rethug. for the first time just to be able to vote against Arlen in the primary IN 2010.

nwoods: All I can say is : YEEESH!

  15. Silver Whistle says:

Even though I am exiled to a remote part of the Western Highlands, by a quirk of fate I am a registered Kansas voter. So Nancy Boyda has little impact on my day-to-day existence. So, she gets a pass from me. She doesn’t look like a monster, does she?

  16. McGehee says:

I’m pretty sure my congressman doesn’t suck. I can’t testify as to the width of his stance, but his voting record even when in the state legislature showed a willingness to break with party bosses when they wanted to spend too much.

He got castigated in the blogosphere for voting against a Katrina relief package he thought didn’t have enough safeguards to protect taxpayers. He opposed amnesty before 2006, and he voted against the bailout that seems poised to have the same effect on the GOP that amnesty did.

In a just world, this guy would be Speaker instead of Botox Nan.

  17. McGehee says:

Well, ok, if we ought to name names

    Ah? Okay then: Lynn Westmoreland.

  18. alppuccino says:

I don’t think Biden should have got the Botox. From the earlier pics, it looks like he could’ve held the entire Senate’s business cards with his forehead.

  19. Cowboy says:

My Mike Pence makes up for my Evan Bayh.

  20. geoffb (JARAIP) says:

I thought this was about House seats. As far as Senate, yuck. I’m stuck with Carl, I wear my glasses this way to look thoughtful, Levin and Debbie Stab-you-in-the-back-right-now.

Detroit and the UAW swing the heavy club Statewide. Michigan, as in the 70’s, we show the rest of the States how bad things can get when the left runs the show.

I love my State but politically it’s a swamp.

  21. Obstreperous Infidel says:

Two words…Dennis Kucinich. One Rino Senator in George Voinovich and one class warfare waging prog in Sherrod Brown.

  22. Ric Locke says:

My rep (Marvin Throneberry) isn’t such a bastard — I’ve spoken to his aides on several matters. He’s sworn off earmarking, and voted against the “Renewable Energy and Job Creation Tax Act of 2008” a.k.a. carbon-tax boondoggle. About Kay and John, well, the less said the better.

I still want term limits. Twelve years for all national offices COMBINED.

    Regards,
    Ric

PDB, cheers, fellow MAsshole. Delahunt does suck most, which is really saying something; like being the shortest cast member of Time Bandits.
    However, Karma’s a bitch.
Western MA reps John Olver and Richard Neal are already sniping at each other since it looks like MA’s upcoming lost Congressional seat will be one of those two from the western part of the state.
My pal lives in Newton, so I’m contemplating registering there under his address tomorrow.

    We’re not counting Governors, right?

  24. BJTexs says:

    Ric:

I’m starting a grassroots movement for term limits. I like your idea as the max. Two terms Senate, 4 terms house, house gets you one term in the Senate unless you only do 2 terms house. then you get a special dispensation for 2 terms in the Senate. Or something.

BuddyPC: Deval Patrick … BWAAAA HAHAHAHAHA … whew … sorry…

  25. BJTexs says:

    Duval

  26. BJTexs says:

    I’m an idiot.

  27. TheGeezer says:

I want to repeal the amendment that resulted in direct election of senators. Let’s get state legislatures back into the mix, sending reps who will care for states’ rights rather than their own real estate assets.
