Michelle Obama a huge success for Us [Karl]

Us magazine, that is:

Putting Michele Obama on the cover of Us Weekly appears to be a gamble that’s paid off. Early sales numbers for the celeb glossy are trickling in, and according to sources that are familiar, the June 30 issue could sell more than 900,000 copies.

That is more copies than the cover featuring Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo’s dating woes, but far less than Jessica Simpson’s 20-pound weight loss.

Irony:

Anyone who read Us’ piece, “Why Barack Loves Her,” knows that Michelle Obama wasn’t quoted directly.

Well, it probably sold better that way; just ask the Obama campaign.

I had the same thought about MO’s look. But I softened up a bit and decided that she reminds me of Aunt Esther from “Sanford & Son.”

  21. TheGeezer says:

    Gad.

Can you envision Michelle guiding a tour of the White House, a la Jackie Kennedy, but punctuated with BLT epithets?

“…and here, Barbara, is a painting depicting slave-owner honky George Washington – who I think is damned – painted by fellow bloodsucking exploiting bastard white satan Henry Mosler – shown crossing the Potomac to murder other imperialist honkies in the unjust and so-called war of Independence…”

I denounce myself for having written this.

  22. CArin -BONC says:

The cover touts how she never misses her kid’s recitals. Man, the bar is low isn’t it?

  23. JD says:
