Although it has popped up in the comments here, I have avoided commenting on the claims at Larry Johnson’s No Quarter blog regarding a rumored video of Michelle Obama making racially inflammatory comments, supposedly referring to “Whitey.” Johnson himself claims he will have “news” on the purported video later this morning.
As I write this (late Sunday), I have no idea what that “news” will be, whether such video exists, etc. The only reason I mention it now is that — in view of the general knowledge of the rumor — the Booman Tribune (of all places) suggests that what may be on any such video may be criticism of President Bush like this:ÂÂ

Why’d he do nothing about Jena?
Why’d he put us in Iraq for no reason?
If that is what the purported video contains (even if the answer is “George W. Bush doesn’t care about black people”) — or if it can be credibly spun that way — this whole bit of business may be of a piece with Johnson’s infamous July 2001 New York Times op-ed, “The Declining Terrorist Threat.” Or with Geraldo Rivera opening Al Capone’s vault. Accordingly, it would probably be advisable to avoid getting overly invested in the rumor and await hard news on the subject.
Update: Larry’s “news” is a whole mess of double hearsay, and still no hard news. Shocka.
