Dems 2008: Is Hillary Clinton voteworthy? [Karl]

The Boston Phoenix’s Steven Stark, noting Hillary Clinton’s ongoing efforts to portray Brack Obama as a wimp, observes:

[D]oubts about a candidate’s masculinity would spell trouble regardless of the opponent. But it’s especially problematic when, well, it’s a woman who’s pointing out what a wimp you’ve become. There is a well-accepted role in American life for the “tomboy” – a role, say, inhabited in pop culture by Seinfeld’s Elaine – the girl who loves hanging out in the boy’s gang. Clinton has more than willingly stepped into it.

Clinton willingly stepped into a Ford truck yesterday, and it was implied that she has more “testicular fortitude” than Obama.

Yet Clinton has also willingly stepped in it during this campaign, even under sniper fire.  And she is ofren hanging out with rancid, asexual cream puffs.  Would anyone really want to see Clinton’s victory dance?

The one thing that struck me when listening to Barry’s “denunciation” of Rev. Wright was, despite Barry’s use of the word “outrage”, he didn’t seem to exhibit any emotion. It was flat, dull, bland. Neither anger nor sorrow.

There’s no “gut” there. Is this the newest incarnation of the metrosexual? The latest descendant of the new masculinity fathered by Alan Alda some 30 odd years ago?

What an incredibly patriarchly thing to write considering there is a woman still in the race. Having said that, nobody questions Hills masculinity.

Darleen – He gets plenty fired up when talking about hope and change.

Are you trying to frighten us, Karl?

But hope and change aren’t going to confront him. It’s like being passionate about Global Warming — it doesn’t represent any threat of going postal on ya.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Hillary went out and got a ‘No Guts – No Glory’ tattoo.

It’s less the masculinity thing so far and more kind of this patina of Michael Jackson weird he’s picking up. There’s a lot of this hanging out with terrorists and hatey anti-American freaky pastors and also Oprah and those stoned dreadlocked hippy children music videos that’s just not normal.

Also he bowls like a girl.

Obama’s Wright troubles are becoming more instructive, and more disturbing, daily.

Moving away from the essential controversy (Mr. Changeyness’ long affiliation with a conspiracy minded BLT racist hate monger) we are also getting a taste of Obama in a conflict or crisis.

This was not an attempted sister Souljah moment. This was Wright being what he has always been, what thor strives mightily to be, the alpha dog of his world. Wright was basically refusing to get in line behind Obama and instead was asserting his dominance.

Obama recognized this and responded in his Ivy League, non-confrontational way. He knew that to get his hackles up and show some emotion would risk an even more aggressive response from Wright; then it’s a fight, and ultimately one that Obama just cannot win. There is no way Obama could simultaneously defeat Wright, while defending his past, placating his Illinois base (where most all of his popular vote majority comes from,) and still have a chance with the general population come November.

Obama is, at his heart, a beta male. He knows he cannot stare down anyone, and especially not a practiced demagogue like Wright. I shudder to think of Obama facing down the likes of Ahmadinnerjacket or Putin.

i tole you this too Karl.
The superdels have decided already…they are waiting to let the primaries finish.
this switch from HRC today is a signal, so O doesn’t do too badly in the next primaries.

Beta? Absolutely. The only thing he doesn’t have is the patented ‘Sensitive Male’ hair style’: long and tied up in a discreet ponytail.

Nish: The Obama’s going to get his ass kicked.

So all those double-digits too clueless to notice the Che flag or Tony Rezko or the Weather Underground or Black Liberation Theology or Jeremiah Wright or anything really but their bibles, guns and pick-up trucks and how old McCain is have really all been focused like goddam lasers on Joe Andrew to see which who he supports. And of course, nishi knew it all along.
