FISA Update: Is a Rockefeller/Hoyer telco immunity deal imminent? [Karl]

At FDL, Jane Hamsher is on Code Red alert status:

According to the ACLU, there is rumor of a backroom deal being brokered by Jay Rockefeller on FISA that will include retroactive immunity. I’ve heard from several sources that Steny Hoyer is doing the dirty work on the House side, and some say it will be attached to the new supplemental.

Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Heylaydee) said last week that he would attach a measure updating the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to the war spending bill, in order to get House Democratic leaders to take up a version of the bill that was passed with bipartisan support in the Senate.

No doubt Hamsher is already looking for a Hoyer-Rockefeller picture to Photoshop.

Wow, BMoe! Talk about a gaggle of paranoid goonybirds.

I want to sneak up behind one and yell “BOO!” just to watch the anticipated overwrought reaction

Eeek. The comments over at the PI are just too precious. Paraphrasing:

“I trust the government to educate my children, to assure the safety of my food and water and medicine, and to protect me from criminals. I’d really like to trust the government to provide medical care to me and my family, as well.

But phone calls and e-mails? POLICE STATE! POLICE STATE!”

When I first saw the headline of this post the immediate thought was how long would it take before semi-conscious drove by to leave her signature snark and derision.

The BushApologists are more widespread than Miss Cleo realizes.

In fact, by Miss Cleo’s standards, the guy who threw the grenade at Bush is a BushApologist.

    ‘Cause it didn’t go off.

No, that fellow was me — and I’m not really Georgian, I just happen to live in metro Atlanta.

The guy with the grenade, he was mad because Dubya didn’t sign Kyoto.

  17. RTO Trainer says:

Is that Troy McClure? I think I remember him from such independent films as “Loose Change,” “Waco: The Rules of Engagement,” and “Revisionist History for Fun and Profit.”

Vladimir Arutinian, who threw the grenade, has refused to give a motive.

  18. McGehee says:

    RTO, you’re no fun.
