A (R) by any other name would smell as sweet

— Provided, of course, it remembered to scrub off the whore funk first. Otherwise, it would likely smell a bit like shitake mushrooms sauteed in garlic and feet.*

Move along. Nothing to see here.

  1. Dan Collins says:

I think that R is for “Resigning,” Jeff.

  2. Jeff G. says:

    Plausible deniability. I like it.

  3. Carin says:

Honestly, doesn’t everyone just know he’s a democrat? Absolutely no sense mentioning it.

  4. Hoodlumman says:

It’s all just coincidence, gentlemen. Remember, the MSM is too conservative.

  5. MC says:

    I’m SHOCKED!

  6. Bill D. Cat says:

There’s some kind of stigma attatched to whore funk ?

  7. BravoRomeoDelta says:

I rather wonder if the reason that Democratic party identity is seldom mentioned is, perhaps, the MSM’s assumption that the affiliation of a corrupt or immoral politician is axiomatically with the Democratic Party, and so the only time that it’s worth pointing out is when something unusual – like a Republican falling from grace – occurs. [/tongue-in-cheek]

  8. Topsecretk9 says:

I was wondering if a giant email jihad ala WAPO mentioning Democrats took Abramoff money was in order, then I remembered how stupid that was.

  9. I think the media are simply correcting the clerical error that was made when Spitzer registered as a Dem. Clearly, by his hypocritical actions, we’ve established that he’s REALLY a Republican.

  10. A fine scotch says:

I bet Excitable Andy would be GOBSMACKED! to find this out.

  11. dailybayonet says:

The Washington Times did the same thing today with Detroit mayor Kilpatrick. But they did make sure to mark the Michigan AG with an ‘R’.

  12. happyfeet says:

So how do the networks treat Republicans involved in sex scandals? Always, always as Republicans, and as problems for their party.

That’s really the more key part I think. None of this really can be anywhere near fixed until elected Republicans become media literate and can call this sort of thing out to some extent. They’re quite stupid, unfortunately. I would propose a workshop maybe. With handouts. But even then there’s quite a few of them what never should attempt to address this sort of thing. Like Kay Bailey and Chuck Grassley and John Boehner, for example. Cause they’re just abysmally stupid. Bless their hearts, but they’re just dumb.

  13. Scott R says:

My wife, who is much smarter than me and doesn’t follow politics at all, was surprised when I told her Spritzer was a (D). She had seen the local Chicago and national news broadcasts but his party was never mentioned.

  14. Semanticleo says:

I keep tellin’ y’all; HYPOCRISY SELLS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I should think Free-Marketing, Supply sidin’, free enterprise types,
would understand it’s NOT PERSONAL, JUST BUSINESS………….

But then, when it’s YOUR ox that’s being gored, it is another matter.

  15. lee says:

    Seman,

You haven’t really thought #14 out, I think.

Go ahead, take your time. We’ll wait.

  16. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

I keep tellin’ y’all; HYPOCRISY SELLS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haven’t checked the NYT circulation numbers and stock price lately, I see.

why buy when can get the cow’s milk for free I am registered so I get on fast…too fast to ever buy it again. this internet stuff is hard to make a living at ..unless you’re telecomm monopoly protected from competition by a conservative govt. (unlike even corrupt taiwan where bandwidth is prolific and monthly charges are minimal apparently we’re the higher cost and bandwidth capacity is maxing out: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/13/technology/13net.html

  18. J. Peden says:

In addition, Proggs’ watch-dogs bark only at Republicans. Spread the word.

  19. happyfeet says:

I always just buy the milk at Ralph’s. My friend T says I buy the WIC milk and I should be embarrassed, but it really doesn’t bother me that much, a lot cause she couldn’t really tell me what the difference was.

  20. Sean M. says:

You can’t really blame Yahoo and AFP for getting Spitzer’s party affiliation wrong. I mean, apparently, it’s some kind of secret.

  21. J. Peden says:

Related story: two local rednecks were out hunting in this region and heard a dog continually barking somewhere out in the woods. It just kept barking for “three hours” – by the time the story got to me – so they finally checked it out.

They found the dog pretty high up in a tree, looked a little lower and saw a Cougar looking back at them from below the dog. Then a guy they hadn’t seen at first, either, came up to them from out of the woods, unarmed and with a child in his back pack, begging them progressively to not shoot the Cougar. So they shot the Cougar, and the dog promptly flopped down out of the tree.

    Free service.

  22. happyfeet says:

Smart dog. But maybe you they should’ve just tried to see if maybe the gunfire would scare the cougar off maybe. But it definitely ended a lot better than it might have.

  23. lee says:

Yeah, if the cougar was in a populated place, I’d say shoot it, but out in the woods hunting? Just fuck with him.

And watch out for that dog, he may be wild, or rabid or something.

    Same with the progressive!

  24. Education Guy says:

Wait, wait, wait. The progressive had a child in his back pack?!? Was he going to feed it to the cougar because they waited too long to abort it in Bushcos fascist Amerikkka? You know because overpopulation is hurting mother earth and global warming and stuff? For Goddesses sake man, was the backpack at least made of hemp?

    Something doesn’t sound right here.

  25. J. Peden says:

It was a judgement call, ommmmmmmmm… Btw, the protected Cougars are proliferating dramatically around here in Oregon. So far there have been enough deer, etc., to keep them fed. But now also come the Wolves.

Also – via Lars Larsen’s talk radio show – a rabid Cougar very recently attacked a kid out here somewhere, The kid’s fine except for rabies prophylaxis, along with a couple of others who then contacted the kid and Cougar, which was shot by the kids father, a rancher.

  26. lee says:

I mean, you never know when it’s going to be one of those progressives that bomb Marine recruitment centers.

  27. McGehee says:

Like bats, proggs should be presumed rabid until the veterinarian can examine the brain.

    […]

Hmm, yeah — that could be a problem. Veterinarians generally don’t have electron microscopes.

  28. psycho... says:

But maybe you they should’ve just tried to see if maybe the gunfire would scare the cougar off maybe.

I think you underestimate what a bunch of dicks cougars are.

They’re not out strolling through the woods looking at leaves and thinking about shit. They’re hungry and trying to stop feeling that way, and you’re slow and weak meat.

If you see one at any angle that’s not a direct line-of-sight into its fleeing butthole, it’s not a bad idea to shoot at it. If you miss just right, you might scare it off the ambush (of you) that it’s probably in the middle of. But they eat things five times your size that make noises as loud as most gunshots, so don’t try to miss.

  29. happyfeet says:

Oh. Nature is just really treacherous I guess, and maybe you shouldn’t even try to be nice. That’s kind of disappointing, but really, it’s not like I’m in any danger of encountering any of it. A really good sized deer once ran past me one night right off Ventura Blvd though, so I guess you never know.

  30. Rusty says:

To any preditor anything else in its enviroment is prey,to paraphrase psycho. The peoples are an especially easy prey. A cougar an be a nasy suprise when they’re cornered.

  31. Andrew says:

It’s only a matter of time before a progg defends Agent-Presse and Yahoo by saying something along the lines of “You can’t blame them for getting the party wrong, I mean, with all these Republican Sex scandals, it’s an easy mistake to make.”

Except there will be more swear words and suggestions that Bush and Rove *made* Spitzer dip his wick into a whore’s honeypot. Over and over and over again. Like that scene in “Se7en”, remember?

  32. S. Weasel says:

No, no…it doesn’t mean Republican. That’s Eliot Spitzer (R) and his wife (L).

  33. Pablo says:

“You can’t blame them for getting the party wrong, I mean, with all these Republican Sex scandals, it’s an easy mistake to make.”

Right, because Tony Villaraigosa, Gavin Newsom and Jim McGreevey? They completely forgot about them. But they’ll probably run with the idea anyway.

  34. Pablo says:

Oh, and Monica who? No idea what you’re talking about.

  35. Rob Crawford says:

I should think Free-Marketing, Supply sidin’, free enterprise types,
would understand it’s NOT PERSONAL, JUST BUSINESS………….

Ah. It’s “just business” when the self-declared watchdogs lie. It’s “just business” when those lies always seem to slant one way.

But, hey, at least now we have seman on record saying the following:

o When Clinton abused power by going through FBI files and using the IRS against his critics, it was OK with seman because he trusted Clinton.

o Corruption among public officials is OK if they’re Democrats, because it’s not hypocrisy.

Nice standards you have there, seman. I bet you even think they’re meaningful.

  36. DarthRove says:

Please. They’re just making clear that Eliot is the person standing to the (R)ight in the photograph.

    Yeahhhhhh, that’s the ticket.

  37. mojo says:

Because, y’know, his wife looks so much like him.
