While the GOP tries to reconcile conservatives and others to its likely nominee, John McCain, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean announces that “the party” might have to step in between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to prevent a brokered convention (how very democratic) and issues a set of talking points against McCain — most of which are so lame that even his staunchest critics may end up defending against them.
Rove, you magnificent bastard!
(h/t Memeorandum.)
Rove, you magnificent bastard!
Gawd knows I love me some magnificent bastard!
Brief discussion with my Dem friend at work (black, moderate and now an Obama delegate)
The Hillary people hate, HATE the Obama people, because the Obama people, fairly young and newbies so are outside the usual party infrastructure and they are getting the job done for Obama. Also, Obama is doing the RFK strategy, from the heartland outwards and Obama is capturing the white male vote far and beyond what Hillary is getting from that demographic. He sees Obama’s lack of experience as a PLUS, as then Obama runs as a “clean slate” and is getting people to believe he will be willing to listen to ALL voices in his administration — ie he doesn’t owe the favors like Hillary and he has not ossified in his positions like McCain.
Hillary needs Obama as VP on her ticket, Obama doesn’t need Hillary.
PS Heard a clip today from Michelle Obama who stated that if Hillary were the nominee, Michelle would have to “think about it” in supporting Hillary. Michelle would have to “review Hillary’s policies and proposals” before she could make a decision.
I hope they both go into the convention in a dead heat delegate wise. It is the ONLY chance McCain has.
Michelle would have to “review Hillary’s policies and proposals†before she could make a decision.
Shouldn’t a candidates spouse have “reviewed” the “policies and proposals” of a sitting senator running for office and main opposition to their spouses nomination by now? It’s as easy as an hour or less in front of a computer or a prepared briefing by staff? And much of it has been in the papers for quite a while, does she not read?
I’m not sure that was the wisest thing to say.
Howard Dean?
He once bicycled through Vermont (or tried to and failed), right?
We’re in more trouble than we think, well for me, I think we’re in deep do-do, but apparently too many don’t agree…
The democrats need Howard Dean. Please, please bring on Howard Dean. He has been far too quiet for too long.
Howard never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity. He is the gift that keeps on giving. We need to see more of Howard Dean front and center.
PLEASE!!!!!!
I had forgotten all about HoDo. Thanks, Howie. We love you.
I feel better. I think I’ve a lot processed this fiasco. If McCain wins, and Howard Dean wants to pretend it’s a defeat, I can deal with that. I still think the danger of McCain is that he would seek to elect little Olympia Snowebots and work like hell to rid himself of the Tom Coburns, but that seems to be happening irrespective really.
This is a press release from CPAC 2005. These CPAC people are dumb even if they all drive better cars than me.
Howlin’ Howie rides again. America needs your foot in mouth. Don’t be shy.
For old times sake …
YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEE AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!
So the Democrat side is going to select, not elect.
Hmmmmm, where have I heard that before?
