Bush Visits Wounded Troops [Dan Collins]

Lefty blogs howl. Because of teh hypocrisy? Under the title, “Why Is This Man Smiling?” one of them begins this way:

Just yesterday, Bush said (two posts back), “I’ve committed our troops into harm’s way twice, and it’s not a pleasant experience because I understand the consequences firsthand.” Today he went to an army medical facility and met some people who actually do understand the consequences of his decisions firsthand. Warning: graphic pictures of the consequences of Bush’s decisions.

And after the pictures:

Update to the update: it seems that Bush also played virtual reality games with the recovering soldiers, including a shoot-em-up set in Baghdad. See? He really does appreciate the consequences of war firsthand.

Because, see, our compassion is so much more compassionate than his. Which is why we visit the wounded and promote charities supporting them and their families.

Graphic images of the carnage wrought by liberal inaction sure to follow.

Credit where due:

You all know that on occasion I like to needle Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes. But her appreciation of our troops abroad, in anticipation of Veterans Day, I appreciate.

We can reasonably conclude there is nothing that George Bush could do that would elicit a positive response from the BDS sufferers. Everything is wrapped in the construct of his personal fascism. They’ve managed to leach all of the humanity out of the person to satisfy the requirements of political doctine.

Fer cryin’ out loud even I can find something nice to say about Jimmy Carter!

  2. Major John says:

As some lefty blogger may have said in passing once, “Screw them”. I have served under 4 different CinCs, and the current is just fine, thanks.

  3. B Moe says:

I had to respond to the notion it was shameful that the White House web site didn’t show the pictures of the more horribly disfigured. Even after the Frost debacle, I still have trouble comprehending that the left knows no shame in the exploitation of others suffering. Hell, they fucking wallow in it.

  4. Mike says:

Doesn’t that dickweed know that, by the Treasonous Left’s own clearly-stated rules of rhetorical engagement, he’s not allowed to say one word about Bush visiting injured soldiers unless and until he’s done so himself?

    Chickenblogger.

  5. BJTexs says:

Mike: He shows his transcendant caring by opposing the war and vilifying Bush. Get with The Narrative!™

  6. Matt, Esq. says:

omg at least he’s there and not supporting the vile protesters outside the hospital.

The left can kiss my unfortuantely pale ass.

  7. Donald says:

Oh really, just tell me one postive statement (That’s true) about Carter. He’s a complete ass and his wife by the way is one king hell bitch.

  8. B Moe says:

“Oh really, just tell me one postive statement (That’s true) about Carter.”

    He only served one term.

  9. BJTexs says:

Anmd … he likes peasnuts. I like peanuts. QED

  10. The Ouroboros says:

Man, I’d like to see Bush suit up in some Kevlar, pick up an M4 (and a couple pearl handled revolvers) and show up in Iraq to personally lead an offensive in a George Pattonish kinda gesture… Just to stun the whiney lefties into silence for a moment (as they racked their brains figuring out how to spin it into something negative..) What’s the point in being Crusader in Chief if you can’t lead your Templars in an assault ?

I shouldn’t go on HuffPo, but they have this story too. The astute commenters allow as how:
-Bush is a sociopath because he’s laughing. He has no human qualities whatsoever.
-There are no black soldiers pictured because the White House mad sure to keep them away from the camera.
-FINALLY, Bush is visiting the wounded for the first time. [Wrong. He visits regularly.]
-It’s disgusting to see him visiting the wounded.
-Bush shouldn’t be using the wounded for a photo-op.
-HuffPo should keep these pictures up, because the msm won’t show them. [One of the pictures was on the front page of my paper, maybe because the visit took place in my city.]
-The wounded troops deserve their pain because they are rapists and aggressors.

I’ve told my husband to have me put away if I ever become as deranged about any future president, whatever party.

Yep. One of the columnists for the local college paper was taking him to task last week for the extension of Daylight Savings Time.

Judging from previous columns, he seems to simultaneously believe that:

    a) We invaded Iraq to steal their oil and sell it, thus generating MASSIVE PROFITS FOR BUSH CRONIES.

    b) We invaded Iraq to cut off their oil supply and raise prices, thus generating MASSIVE PROFITS FOR BUSH CRONIES.

In this case, though, I suspect that what really got his panties in a knot was that he had to get up and go to class an hour early for an extra week.

Donald: Just tell me one postive statement (that’s true) about Carter

His brother Billy was slightly more socially productive and slightly less embarrassing than Roger Clinton?

  13. Patrick Chester says:

Bush has been visiting the wounded since early 2002 or so, right? (Maybe earlier?) Without bothering to inform the press, either.

As for the oh-so-enlightened left trying to score points off of this: Ghouls. Vultures. Hyenas. May their empty lives cause them to implode on January 20th 2009. I suppose “they can go fuck themselves” could be used but they’d probably fission and then there’d be more of them so skip that part.

  14. Nathan says:

I totally agree that the Netroots’ have become mainly a source of bile, but they’re actually right about one thing. Bush knows the consequences of going to war secondhand, not firsthand.

  15. Dan Collins says:

    Whereas the Netroots?

    From Wikipedia:
[Abraham Lincoln] was elected captain of an Illinois militia company drawn from New Salem during the Black Hawk War, and later wrote that he had not had “any such success in life which gave him so much satisfaction.”[11] Though he never saw combat, Lincoln did assist in burying the dead from the Battle of Stillman’s Run the day after Major Isaiah Stillman’s troops fled the field of battle.[12]

And it’s true: he never drew salary from a hedge fund as part of his research. Hillary? If she has to place troops in harms way, will she be a chickenhawk? Obama?

I don’t understand the significance. I haven’t been in combat, Nathan. Have you?

  16. Bush knows the consequences of going to war secondhand, not firsthand.

    so?

  17. Patrick Chester says:

maggie: Apparently, it’s not pure enough.

  18. happyfeet says:

The left is very jealous of their prerogative to define the wounded troops as their narrative requires, cause once one set of perceived victims is off the plantation, all the other victims start wondering if the grass is greener, and really, just from a leftist aesthetic perspective, there’s nothing more obnoxious than a victim that thinks.

  19. Rusty says:

Bush knows the consequences of going to war secondhand, not firsthand.

Yes citizen. You are a veteran? Or is this just a thinly veiled ‘chickenhawk’ reference?

  20. alppuccino says:

To hate one man so much that you would make it seem ridiculous that anyone would smile in the presence of men who have given their absolute all and would go back to give more is psychotic.

These men put their bodies between my family and all foes. And for these lunatics to point their fingers and say “Gross! Look what Bush did and now he’s touching them!” is sickening.

  21. George S. "Butch" Patton (Mrs.) says:

Yes, the left just cares so much… that’s why Code Pink has standing outside Walter Reed Hospital for the last four years, screaming curses at the wounded troops.
