Private Beauchamp's Baghdad [Dan Collins]

A report in the WaPo today paints a bleak picture of the part of Baghdad to which Beauchamp and his unit are deployed (I know because it mentions Lt. Col. Glaze, his CO).  I would think that if Beauchamp had stuck to reporting, he would have had material enough, given this article.

John Cole commenter weighs in:

Like the piece says, Iraq isn’t worth one more dead soldier. As a matter of fact, it isn’t worth one dead soldier. Now let’s talk about betrayal.

Well although I have no reason to doubt the validity of this report, I am fed up to HERE with the f****** MSM only printing BAD NEWS or news that is intrinsically defeatist in nature. There is virtually no news out of Iraq and when there is we get this sort of ‘picture’.

What this story is intended to demonstrate is that it’s ALL A FAILURE. Run away. It’s all hopeless. Based upon the experience of one group in an area inhabited by Sunnis previously favored by the old regime. Sunnis who probably were at least somewhat complicit in the terrorist wave of bombings.

I’m not saying this picture of this neighborhood is untrue or that the Interior Ministry does not need overhauling. US generals say that there are substantive problems with the Ministry and it needs to be overhauled.

I’m just fed up with this tendentious agenda driven journalism. If I had no other sources of information, I would support pulling out tomorrow.

I don’t really care about Beauchamp. I care about the MSM which needs to die a lot sooner than currently projected.

Iraq (formerly known as Babylon) was foretold to become a wasteland that no man would seek to inhabit. Too bad Bush didn’t read Jeremiah chapter 50 before he treated our troops and cash like a stash he could trash.

35A” sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.

36A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.

37A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.

38A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.”

    Now you’re a Millenarian, Cleo?

  4. Semanticleo says:

Jeez. A big word I had to look up.

No. I just believe ‘every action has an equal and opposite reaction’.

I let the Christianists bellow about the ‘Rapture’ and ‘Tribulation’ while I wait for the critical mass to work it’s magic.

  5. Brian McMurphy says:

Wow. These commies are as bad about literalist Bible interpretation as those neocons that want all the Jews to rebuild the temple so JC can kick off his comeback tour.

  6. wait, I thought “neocons” were joooooos. I’m confused.

  7. Dan Collins says:

Only the non-perfected ones, apparently, maggie.

  8. sashal says:

    more phony soldiers, that’s all.

  9. Dan Collins says:

    Real soldiers, phony journalism.

Children Shouldn’t Play with Biblical Things

  11. B Moe says:

“No. I just believe ‘every action has an equal and opposite reaction’.”

Then why are you attempting to recite prophesy?

  12. dicentra says:

Wow, cleo, here I’ve been pro-war all this time, but now that you’ve quoted from The Good Word, I’ve changed my position entirely.

It was this phrase that did it: “and they shall become as women”

I guess it’s our duty as Christians and Joooos to turn Iraq into a nation of trannies.

To the scalpel sword, me hearties!

  13. Melkor says:

God told us in the Bible that Iraq ain’t worth it and a can of whoop-ass would be visited upon your ass if you sully forth?

That’s a new one. Beats the hell out of Cheney jerking Colin Powell’s marionette strings.

  14. McGehee says:

Of course, for those of us who decide what should be done based on the Bible’s moral teachings rather than on prophecies, Miss Cleo’s “argument” is just one more excuse to point and laugh.

    <points and laughs>

And I know Jesus is pointing and laughing right along with me.

Quoting the Bible to promote genocide is not unprecedented really.

    I’ll be home for Christmas

I hate this road. Hate it Hate it Hate it.

    You can count on me

I don’t think this place is worth another soldier’s life.

    Please have snow and mistletoe

It’s just a slow, somewhat government-supported sectarian cleansing.

    And presents under the tree

The end state was people left. They felt unsafe.

    Christmas Eve will find me

To this day, I don’t think we truly understand…

    Where the love light gleams

I’m frustrated…. I’ve got a lot of thoughts in my head.

    I’ll be home for Christmas

People are killed here every day, and you don’t hear about it.

    If only in my dreams.

I honestly thought we were making a difference…

  17. Pablo says:

Wow. Off topic, Biblical and batshit crazy. I want just a teeny bit of whatever ‘cleo is on.

  18. Patrick Chester says:

Cleo, are you actually debating or is this some sort of free-for-all where you spew out whatever your tiny overheated little head thinks is clever at the moment?
