\nWe are less than one week from the scheduled Congressional vote to override President Bush\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s veto of the massive 121% expansion in SCHIP spending, and we want to provide you with a key figure on what will happen in five years in terms of spending, according to the Democrats\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 bill.<\/p>\n

Under their plan for SCHIP, spending will drop from $13.9 billion in 2012 to only $7.8 billion in 2013.<\/p>\n

So, as drafted, the Democrats\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 proposal will lead to either billions of dollars in higher taxes in 2013 or millions of children losing their health care coverage. This is deceptive at best and malicious at worst.
\nPresident Bush supports a reasonable expansion of SCHIP in line with its original intent, putting poor children first. The bill the President vetoed in some cases covered families earning $83,000 a year, adults, and was the first step on the path toward an inefficient system of government-run healthcare.<\/p>\n

If federal funds were required [they] could die for all I care. Let the parents get second jobs, let their state foot the bill or let them seek help from private charities. [\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a6]<\/p>\n

I would hire a team of PIs and find out exactly how much their parents made and where they spent every nickel. Then I\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2d do everything possible to destroy their lives with that info.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, some moron makes this comment, and it’s the official position of the blog? And someone employed by the White House makes a post on his diary, and it’s suddenly “an official White House posting”?<\/p>\n

The guy thinks so unclearly that he actually repeats the part about it’s having been raised from a diary on the site. Or maybe he doesn’t realize the implication, much like Chuck Adkins. Either way, it’s glossolalic. What it proves, more than anything, is that these people, despite their ability to write something that looks a lot like cogent thought, are really incapable of it.<\/p>\n

I say we go find some idiotic comment after something Gleen’s written, and attribute it to Russ Feingold.<\/p>\n

Ezra doesn’t get it<\/a>. Sullivan accuses him of insisting on univocality<\/a>, and he complains that the magazine Sullivan used to edit wasn’t uniform enough. Strangely, Ezra doesn’t seem to have any trouble with Mickey Kaus’s integrity, though, when it suits his purposes. Would a Google search reveal a bit of shakiness on this count? Is Ezra insisting, by analogy, that we really must get to the bottom of the Frosts’ finances to get to the truth? Does he find it absurd that the Goracle was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize? My past note about what Iraq was worth was qualified, as one reader conveniently ignored: I said a natural emotion after seeing our soldiers’ sacrifices was that the entire country was not worth a life of a US trooper-not that I felt such feelings were either logical or moral, much less shared by those who must do the bleeding.<\/p>\n

US troops believe in their mission, not just because they are killing terrorists, but because that they are rebuilding a society and see tangible positive results in their humanitarian efforts, despite the costs-and that a free and secure Iraq will be critical to the region and diminish the chances of yet more global jihadist attacks.<\/p>\n

Radical Islam, for all the criticisms of the Left, is declining in popularity in the Middle East, and its agents are dying in droves, both literally and metaphorically, at the US military’s hands in Iraq.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
