{"id":9984,"date":"2007-10-13T08:42:10","date_gmt":"2007-10-13T14:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/proteinwisdom.com\/?p=9984"},"modified":"2007-10-13T08:42:10","modified_gmt":"2007-10-13T14:42:10","slug":"liberation-theology-comes-to-detroit-dan-collins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/proteinwisdom.com\/?p=9984","title":{"rendered":"Liberation Theology Comes to Detroit [Dan Collins]"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/corner.nationalreview.com\/post\/?q=MTQ0OTliYTk2MjNhMTM3NjIwMWZkYjAwMjEyMGMxNDg=\">Good Catholics<\/a> support government-run health care, or at least the expansion of SCHIP, say some activists in Detroit\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u009dand it sure sounds like the archdiocese office is egging them on:<\/p>\n<p>Some Catholics in Metro Detroit are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.detnews.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20071013\/POLITICS\/710130325\">organizing a media and Internet blitz<\/a> against three local members of Congress, saying the representatives&#8217; stand against a Democratic proposal to finance the State Children&#8217;s Health Insurance Program \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u009d known as MIChild in Michigan \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is inconsistent with their vow to oppose abortion rights.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The important thing to communicate to them is that Catholics regard this as an issue of social justice and basic human rights \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u009d this is a life issue,&#8221; said Michael Hovey, the director of the Office for Catholic Social Teaching for the Archdiocese of Detroit.<\/p>\n<p>A campaign of radio advertisements and e-mails to the offices of Reps. Joseph Knollenberg, R-Bloomfield Township; Thaddeus McCotter, R-Livonia; and Tim Walberg, R-Tipton, is to begin Monday. The advertisements will be broadcast on local Christian radio stations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, start rendering unto Caesar.  Of course, if this were about abortion, leftists would be screaming bloody murder over the intrusion of church on State.<\/p>\n<p>I admire most of the clergy.  I do.  But let&#8217;s just say that&#8217;s not the first place I&#8217;d go for fiscal advice.
