\nI\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2ve never heard two soldiers who were involved in the same battle agree on every single detail. It\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s not like they have the time or the viewpoint to see the complete \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201ctruth.\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d\n<\/p>\n
\nI looked into the swiftboaties claims after the election. \n<\/p>\n
\nI ignored the tales of anyone who didn\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2t actually participate in the same battles that Kerry did…that eliminated almost all the swiftboaties.\n<\/p>\n
\nOf the few that were actually in the same battles as Kerry, by their own accounts, they were in no position to even see how Kerry acted during those battles, much less pass judgement on his actions.\n<\/p>\n
\nI imagine their tales are still good enough for the faith-based community to continue to believe in, though…that\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s the whole point of belonging to it, isn\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2t it?\n<\/p>\n
\nAs wishbone was brave enough to admit…he believes in whatever helps him sleep at night\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a6 <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I haven’t read Wired<\/i> in a very long time, but in his article “The Church of the Non-Believers”<\/a> Gary Wolf talks about the absurd rhetoric of the Radical Atheists, Dawkins and Dennett included, and concludes:\n<\/p>\n The New Atheists have castigated fundamentalism and branded even the mildest religious liberals as enablers of a vengeful mob. Everybody who does not join them is an ally of the Taliban. But, so far, their provocation has failed to take hold. Given all the religious trauma in the world, I take this as good news. Even those of us who sympathize intellectually have good reasons to wish that the New Atheists continue to seem absurd. If we reject their polemics, if we continue to have respectful conversations even about things we find ridiculous, this doesn’t necessarily mean we’ve lost our convictions or our sanity. It simply reflects our deepest, democratic values. Or, you might say, our bedrock faith: the faith that no matter how confident we are in our beliefs, there’s always a chance we could turn out to be wrong.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
