[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred during a basketball last week between Camarillo High School and Rio Mesa High School in Ventura County.<\/p>\n<p>A school administrator pulled aside four boys and told them to either remove their American flag bandanas or leave the game. The boys complied but returned to lead the crowd in a chant of \u201cUSA, USA.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The boys were <strong>suspended<\/strong> (later rescinded) because the superintendent claims there were sinister motivations. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Gabe Soumakian, the superintendent of the Oxnard Union School District, told Fox News there were <strong>\u201cracial overtones\u201d<\/strong> to the chant [&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was symbolism there with the bandana and the chant,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has nothing to do with being patriotic or unpatriotic,\u201d Soumakian said. \u201cit has to do with the fact that they are making a chant regarding that we are from the USA and you\u2019re not. <strong>Whether that\u2019s the implied intent, that\u2019s the way it comes across<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Not satisfied with the lifted suspension, let the re-education camps begin! <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs a superintendent I think we need to pursue this further,\u201d he said. \u201cWe need to work with teachers and students and the community about the concept of <strong>cultural proficiency<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said cultural proficiency is \u201cunderstanding how to work, live, be and understand the heritage and be respectful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s <strong>more than just the tolerance<\/strong> of other ethnic or cultural groups,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cmore than just tolerance\u201d<\/em> \u2026 Why, yes.
