India blames the Pakistani government. Likely, this is not true. As I&#8217;ve been reporting on this site, portions of the Pakistani military and intelligence services are controlled by Islamic fundamentalists, and the Times reports that those elements may be deliberately provoking a war with India. The US cannot allow this to happen, as it could lead to dire consequences.
