The first stage of the emerging deal doesn\u2019t include revenue, doesn\u2019t include stimulus, and lets Republicans pocket a trillion dollars or more in cuts without offering anything to Democrats in return.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Isn&#8217;t that fun? &#8220;Pocketing a trillion dollars&#8221; &#8212; again, as if these dollars &#8212; really 40 cents of which is borrowed &#8212; were not created by the sweat of the taxpayers sending it into the great maw of D.C., but were Gov property in the first place. Government property that Republicans are stuffing into their pockets or socks like a thousand Sandy Bergers, cackling at their cleverness.<\/p>\n<p>I am sick to death of the nakedly cynical term &#8220;enhanced revenues&#8221; in place of &#8220;higher taxes.&#8221; Well past time for small-government types, inside and outside the Beltway, to grow a pair and forcefully stop any conversation or debate each time that phrase oozes from the lips of illiberals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Precious Ezra Klein: Democrats are going to lose this one.
