I spent most of the day Wednesday in airports, without my computer, which I thoughtfully left home so that it could be broken.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 As a result, I finally read Larry Wright’s The Path to 9\/11<\/em>, which was, as advertized, excellent in most respects.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 As it wore on, though, I became increasingly surprised not to find Jamie Gorelick’s name mentioned anywhere.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 Wright’s research was obviously meticulous, and among\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0the many\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0whom he interviewed was Sandy Berger, so it seems an odd omission.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, as well, Wright, who’s in a much better position to opine about the matter than I, blames the construction of the wall on the CIA (principally) and FBI, who found it convenient to pin their impulses toward secrecy on what Wright characterizes (without saying why) as a misinterpretation of the memo–all without naming Gorelick once.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 It could be that he thinks that it’s a distraction, and it could be that he’s explained this odd aspect of the work elsewhere, but I haven’t seen it.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 Anyone else got a clue?<\/p>\n

I’m wondering now, too, whether we’ll see the thing released on DVD, now that Mrs. Clinton’s out of the race.<\/p>\n
