Sen. Hillary Clinton<\/a> and Bill Clinton<\/a> join the nutroots<\/a> in misconstruing Sen. Barack Obama’s comments about wanting to be to progressives what Ronald Reagan was to conservatives.<\/p>\n

Here’s Hill:<\/p>\n

I have to say, you know, my leading opponent the other day said that he thought the Republicans had better ideas than Democrats the last ten to fifteen years. That’s not the way I remember the last ten to fifteen years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here’s Bill:<\/p>\n

“I can’t imagine any Democrat seeking the presidency would say they were the party of new ideas for the last 15 years. But it sounded good in Reno I guess…”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The nutroots can plead RDS,\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0but what is the Clintons’ excuse?\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 Presumably it is seething rage over having Obama point out that the Clintons were a disaster for the Democratic Party.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 They cannot imagine anyone thinking that the GOP seemed to have the initiative over the past 10-15 years because they are either in denial or do not want to remind\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0Democratic voters\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0that the first two years of the Clinton Administration — culminating in Hillary’s\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0healthcare\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0plan — decimated their party in Congress, governorships and state assemblies.<\/p>\n
