Air America host Stephanie Miller: “98% of the callers to my show this morning were saying ‘you go, Mr. Stark.’”

Courtesy Of Glenn G.:

There is a reason why those who seek to demonstrate the alleged extremism and hate-mongering in the anti-Bush blogosphere need to go digging for anonymous commenters.

I guess now that the BDS is emanating from Congressional Democrats in front of live microphones we can stop digging for those anonymous comments in the blogosphere.

I thought any given 5-minute clip from Hardball, Countdown or th average NYT editorial (front page or otherwise) was sufficient to demonstrate this. Are the Gleens being kept in a cave these days? Against his will?

The puppeteer’s quote dates back to February, but I don’t think the prog extremism was really any more buried eight months ago

If she thinks that’s a random sample of the population, she’s nuts. The only people who would call her show are left-wingers who support Stark strongly enough to call about it. Right-wingers wouldn’t call Air America. Given all the skew in her sample, I think the 2% might actually be surprisingly high.

    What is BDS?

Bush Derangement Syndrome. Coined by columnist Charles Krauthammer, it describes the often bizarre behavior of otherwise (apparently) reasonable people at the mere mention of the current President’s name.

    Mage,

Glenn Greenwald is a high-profile blogger who’s positions on various issues usually get repeated by all the small bloggers, (like John Cole), on that side of the spectrum, and gradually ossify into conventional wisdom over there.

For a while, Greenwald was making an effort at spinning away the Left-wing blogosphere’s well-deserved reputation as a fever-swamp of hysterical juvenilia, claiming that this reputation was created by right-winger bloggers who fished around in the comments section of left-wing blogs for (unrepresentative) extremist views to showcase.

In fact, as the Stark comments show, the raving dementia that has swept the left during the last few years has hardly been confined to the outer fringes of blog commenters.

I can’t get past the implication in “98%” that there were at least fifty callers, when there aren’t that many listeners.

    TW: baguettes also

Okay, count those. Still not fifty.
