HotAir wonders, “Is Hot Air trying to Kos-ify Fred?” (The question is of course, rhetorical.)
We all know that Michelle gave Fred’s camp heat because of their pan-Islamist hiree, Abraham. But, to compare us to Kos? Who disowned Lieberman? Ridiculous. As Allah says, Fred’s probably our best shot.
I don’t see any reason to toe any line here, I’m with Fred as long as he makes sensible decisions. (When that fails, its straight Goldstein-Burge all the way to the White house.)
Fred has struck me as a wise strategist on some points – though I would agree his choice to hold off his candidacy only holds its strategic value for a limited time. Not sure what this new campaign manager is about, though. Honestly, it is cause for pause.
Now, it was my impression that Fred’s delayed candidacy was for two reasons: One to build the suspense & perhaps see how much flak the enemy would fire before he even shows up on the radar. Two? To test the waters. No point in declaring if you can’t get the support necessary or if your baggage sinks you. So on those points, I don’t have any real beef. Fred struck me as not like a lot of the other candidates, that is, political ideologues, but rather as closer to a statesman. Whether that pans out remains to be seen, but I’m hopeful.
Realistically speaking there is always Rudy or Romney; who no matter what happens have a shot (in my opinion).
Back to Fred, what is y’alls thoughts on the guy? On a lot of conservative blogs folks have been mostly mum on him. I know that this partly due to his relative weight as a politician, plus tact concerning his declaration of candidacy. However, I’m interested on the spread up in this here pub about the man. Is he all fluff? Does he need to have loads of political ‘experience’ (which just might mean corruption?)
Anyhow, the charge of us trying to sink him is nonsense. Though, to be fair, we do have our opinions and we’d enjoy seeing less Open Borders connections – plus a declaration some time soon, man. We’re jonesin’!
(And while I appreciate Michelle & Co’s active stance on these things, Fred appears to not be supportive of an open borders stance, no matter what Spence is about.)
Do his confederates speak more to his true positions than any pretence?
Discuss among yerselves.

I like Fred better than the so-called front-runners; he appears, so far, to have the best balance of (1) positions I agree with, and (2) decent chance of winning the fall election.
He’s not the Second Coming of Reagan, but I haven’t belonged to that church since 1989.

I’ve been backing Fred since January.

I’m still watching and waiting. I’ll see what happens when Fred enters the race.
I like him, I admit. Someone would have to have a blowtorch to my backside before I would vote for anti-first-amendment McCain (though, waving the prospect of 4 yesrs of Hillary’s cleavage in my face would do it)
Rudi, as much good will of his 9/11 response still resonates is, IMHO too damaged to win the general election.
I like Mitt, but I’m disheartened at the anti-Mormon bigotry I’ve encountered… a lot of conservative Catholics I know wouldn’t vote for him under any circumstance. Pity.
So Fred might be the real deal. He certainly has the Dems’ organic hemp thongs in a knot.
Can he PUHLEEZE get the ball rolling?

I think I threw up in my mouth a little.

There’s a third reason for Fred’s delayed candidacy; to allow NBC to keep rerunning his Law and Order episodes, and not screw over his co-stars on their residuals.

Not sure what this new campaign manager is about, though.
Are there any big time strategists available right now? Would he want any of the folks who left Team McCain?
