U of I-Chicago releases docs relating to Annenberg Challenge, sparking voracious feeding frenzy among previously uninterested journalists.
Creak.
More:
Barack Obama is striking back fiercely and swiftly to stamp out an ad that links him to a 1960s radical, eager to demonstrate a far more aggressive response to attacks than John Kerry did when faced with the 2004 “Swift Boat” campaign. Obama not only aired a response ad to the spot linking him to William Ayers, but he sought to block stations [from airing] the commercial by warning station managers and asking the Justice Department to intervene. The campaign also planned to compel advertisers to pressure stations that continue to air the anti-Obama commercial.
It’s the type of going-for-the-jugular approach to politics many Democrats complain that Kerry lacked and that Republicans exploit.
Because of unfettered political speech. Because it’s obviously going to backfire on the slander-mongering Rethugs when the truth is known.
“[T]o compel advertisers to pressure stations”? Mafia crap.

God you gotta love the secondary headline! “Education Prof. Bill Ayers Was A Member Of Weather Underground”
Are they about to get a clue? Not on your sweet life. Witness: “…onetime 1960s radical Bill Ayers.” Onetime! I guess they didn’t read this Ayers address given in November 2006.

Yeah, the local Chicago CBS boys were running interference for Obama in their little report, Sdferr. Keep it up, boys.

I’m sure if McCain had dealings with a white supremacist, you’d be just as forgiving.
He’s not a racist. He just knows the guy.

Uh, he went to Ayers for his political introduction to Chicago. He worked with the guy for years. A guy who doesn’t think he did enough bombing.
Jeremiah Wright, this guy, Rezko. Are you saying that the company that one keeps doesn’t reflect on them?
And what did Chicago get from the $100 million it spent on these initiatives? Hmmm?

The Leftbots always learn the WRONG lesson.
It wasn’t that Kerry didn’t strike back “hard enough”, it was that the Swiftboat charges were, with a few exceptions, TRUE. There was no “Christmas in Cambodia.”
But to LeftTrueBelievers, inconvenient facts should not be answered, they need to be crushed, the earth salted, the bones of the apostates and heretics ground into dust and scattered.
O!’s lawyers are demanding that anyone associated with the AIP be prosecuted.
Take a good look, y’all. For all the yammering == LOUD yammering == from the Leftcultists, it isn’t and never has been them threatened for “dissent” or “speaking truth to power.”

* For herself, excellant for the future.
* For Obama. faint [raise indeed, and not a single command to her followers “that ytou should do the same”.
- The Obamasmurfs must be livid.
- She did the least she could do for his campaign, and Willeys comment today was the poison pill we all expected from him.
- The Obama camp had better find a way to derail any chance at a floor fight, or ge could wake up completely blind sided.
- This ticket is a farce. A inexperienced elitist datante celeb in the top spot, and the wrong pick for the VP.
- The ticket would have won with Hillery and biden, in that order. The way it stands, forget it.

@ #17: BBH, it’s like I told my wife last night: Hillary will do exactly as much to get Obama elected as Obama is doing to help retire her campaign debt. My prediction of months ago, that H will do everything in her power to destroy O! if he becomes president, may not come to fruition, since the “becomes president” part is starting to look every bit as inevitable as her winning the ‘08 Democrat nomination.
Hairy Reid maybe better start watching his back.
Comment by thor on 8/27 @ 4:25 am #
Look at BBH doing the best he can to keep his ass puckered. First Michelle Obama yanked his balls off last night and then Hillary stepped on his head tonight.
Hey silly, if Pelosi and Reid can make you their punk, what do you realistically expect Obama and Biden are going to do to your little party of seethers?

oh, thor, first Spies and now BBH. This stalking thing is going to ruin your reputation. Whoops! Too late!
As far as Ayers goes I’m less interested in Obama’s relationship with him than I am in what the two of them accomplished (or not) together. This is the only real executive experience Obama has and it’s thin at best. Even thor has to admit that the “barely knew him” theme is suspect when Barack ended up a Ayre’s door for a campaign fundraiser for his first run at office. I know, politics makes strange bedfellows but the one thing that thor seems to willfully ignore is that we don’t have much of a frame of reference for where this guy stands. Couple that with the ever morphing direction of his political viewpoints on certain issues and the constant heartbeat of post partisan changiness and it seems to me that voters should be looking hard to try and discover what constitute this guy’s political foundations.
It’s the shiny newness factor, whereas both Hillary and McCain are known quantities with a long history of work to judge, good or bad. Ya see, thor, it’s all about the knowledge, not partisan evil finding or racist desires to smear The Other.
No doubt thor will be back to beat his rhetorical chest and shout at how Baracky and Michelle have buried the ‘nutters with their righteous goodness and promises to drain the swamp of evil. Or he could actually engage in a debate. Really!

Up until 9 months ago, I lived on in the East side of Detroit. Caroline Cheeks Kilpatrick was my rep and Kwame was my mayor. I moved out into the boonies to take care of my disabled father. Sorry, not in the moneyed burbs. Lapeer County is one of the poorer ones in the state. I’m surrounded by farms.
I still own the house in Detroit. Terrible market. Can’t sell it. I could rent it to some crack dealers, though, for cheap.

Well, Carin, Detroit has its own color-filled personality. I never had any problems there. Then again I was younger then. On a downtown street I did punch a colorful person in the forehead once. Several times he grabbed my coat after I told, asked actually, him not to do that, and then he hurt my hand. I’m certain that particular Detroitian doesn’t remember much of our brief affair. Downtown Motorcity is a place for Coneys, not grabbing at peoples jackets. Tough crowd.

I’ve been known to sit in radical Marxist Literary Theory Professors’ offices, Dan, and have long-winded conversations. Likely there were many witnesses. My career in politics might be over before it ever started.
I’m also friends with a playwrite in NYC, and a dude who writes for Rolling Stone. The tar from some of my loose associations might stain me forever I fear.
How does one know when they should turn their back to some of these more odious dark creatures instead of extending their hand in greeting? I’ve always been bad about that, you know, being respectful and pleasant in conversation even with persons who might have had shady-shady dealings in their past. The universities are full of ‘em!
Comment by Dan Collins on 8/27 @ 12:33 pm #
You didn’t seek their political favor, did you, thor, or try to help them advance their political agendas, did you? And did any of them go to prison for fraud after a little mutual backscratching involving public funding or bomb federal buildings and wish he’d been able to do more or sermonize about whitey inventing HIV/AIDs in order to keep the black man down? Because if they did, and you want to have a political career, perhaps you ought to think twice before accepting their patronage.
Comment by Carin on 8/27 @ 12:33 pm #
Actually, I’ve long been a Detroit’s biggest fan and biggest critic. The PD are a problem, though. Affirmative action policies have brought us cops who shouldn’t be cops. Corruption is the problem. Accountability. We’ve been under some sort of oversight for years – paying some bigwig consultant from NY $120,000 a MONTH to try to clean it up.
Of course, I have two issues with this. One, how can the PD be under this kind of program for YEARS and still not be under compliance? Second, what kind of fool, who pulls in $120,000 a month would ever give up the job by saying the job is completed?
Comment by thor on 8/27 @ 12:49 pm #
OK, I’m hearing ya. But, say, what if, what if a university professor is likable, a fun guy, has a family that he seems to take care of financially and emotionally and, say, what if you like reading crazy books and he teaches courses in eclectic genres? What then? Add a disclaimer to his syllabus stating that you take his class under duress of your future political career’s harm?

So why is Baracky so desperate to keep his Ayers association so unexplained, dark and hidden? Fouling (or should that be fowling) that Baracky nest of confidence and fearlessness you built for him a couple of days ago? Baracky’s not a chicken, is he?
“Confidence” does go well in another context though. Melville knew him over a hundred years before he was born.
