“This means Warren: Obama backs challenger to Hillary”

So. A fake pragmatist and real Marxist has decided, quietly, to back a fake Indian and real Marxist against another fake centrist and real Marxist.  Oh, the intrigue!  Except that no matter how you slice it, the Democrats are looking once again to nominate a Marxist.  Which should do wonders for the economy.

Better hope Hillary doesn’t have any dirt on you, Mr Obama.  And as for you, Ms Warren, all I can say is I’ve been looking for an excuse to bring back Billy Jack.  And Ward Churchill is like, so 2005-ish.  NYP:

President Obama has quietly promised Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren complete support if she runs for president — a stinging rebuke to his nemesis Hillary Clinton, sources tell me.

Publicly, Obama has remained noncommittal on the 2016 race, but privately he worries that Clinton would undo and undermine many of his policies. There’s also a personal animosity, especially with Bill Clinton, that dates from their tough race six years ago.

A former Harvard law professor and administration aide, Warren would energize the left wing of the Democratic Party just as Obama did against Clinton in 2008.

— There’s another wing to the Democratic Party?  Well, no matter:  if there is, Jeb Bush will energize them for the Democrats.

Thanks to her outspoken stand against big banks and the top 1 percent, Warren is the darling of progressives. She won her Senate seat thanks to millions of dollars in donations from outside Massachusetts, including from rich environmentalists and Hollywood celebrities.

The irony, it burns.

The only upside I see to this — besides the return of Billy Jack — is that, should Warren somehow manage to win, we can all collectively remind her that she didn’t earn that.  And then giggle through our tears.

  1. In a sane world, Fauxcahontas wouldn’t even be considered as a viable presidential candidate. Also, she wouldn’t be considered a viable Senate candidate-

    We are so fucked.

  2. Billy Jack will never stand for this.

  3. Hillary and the squaw chick both have historic boobies whereas Jeb’s ones aren’t meaningfully historic at all

  4. physics geek, in a sane world, Obama would never have been elected, let alone reelected.

We can’t be any more screwed than we already are.

I wonder if Obama would angle for the VP slot on the Warren ticket? Or Michelle?

  5. We can’t be any more screwed than we already are.

We’ve been saying that for 50 years, and we’ve been consistently wrong.

  6. This always assumes that Obama’s support will be wind in the sails instead of a torpedo to the hull.

Which, who can say these days?

  7. A local (Boston) TV commentator mentioned that the author of this NYP article has a book out now about the Obama/Clinton relationship. The talking head suggested this article was simply to stir the pot and cause additional interest in his book. It’s not like we’ve ever seen self-serving “news” stories in the press before, right?

He (the commentator) was saying that Warren is such a terrible choice because she has zero foreign policy experience. Ummmm, dipshit, how much did Obama have?

As what does it say about Biden that Slow Joe isn’t even considered as the number 1 or the number 2 possibility for 2016?

  8. We can’t be any more screwed than we already are.

I see that squid beat me to it. Using somewhat less profanity that I was thinking, so there’s that.

  9. I wonder if Obama would angle for the VP slot on the Warren ticket?

He is constitutionally disallowed from the VP slot, as he would be in the succession line for the presidency. Which means that sure, he might do it.

  10. Warren, I take it, isn’t gonna play the annoying teacher chick part?

  11. Kathleen Sebelius must be kicking herself for taking HHS position.

  12. If Fauxcahontas DOES get elected, I predict the damage will be so severe there will be a viable movement to repeal the 19th Amendment.

  13. Where do I sign?

  14. Oops! Just realized that I forgot to include the link to my meisterwerk on the subject:

  15. As long as you’re at it, Bob, maybe restrict the franchise to property owners on the theory that they are the only ones truly invested in the country. I’m only being a little outré.

  16. There needs to be some kind of restriction.

Certainly, those on Welfare should not be allowed to vote.
