US foreign policy reaches a new level: the gobsmackingly absurd

Which is not to be confused with dangerously surreal, another favorite of life under the American Idol presidency in these, our Benighted States of Ameritopia.

But still.

And here you thought the Million Muppet March was the surrealist tipping point. Shame on you for underestimating the superficiality, unseriousness, and rank ignorance of just over half the country’s voters.

  1. Please god…let it be true. Anything to speed the collapse along.

  2. The comments… oh God the comments…

  3. Is it just luck that I’ve never heard of this tool before?

  4. Considering how well outlets like Mediaite fact check, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mediaite wrote their story based on a blurb from The Onion.

Considering the current administration, the story could very well be true.

    It’s a parody paradox.

  5. This morning, the HuffPo story was updated, after an “unnamed communications staffer in the State Department told (the New York blog Brokelyn) that they had not heard of the singer’s ‘new post.’ HuffPost is in the process of confirming.” Brokelyn claims the whole thing is a hoax.

  6. Andrew WK comes across as a good guy when he appears on Red Eye. He’s way too into personal responsibility for this administration to want him anywhere near them.

  7. So is this Andrew WK guy a sober reprise of the merry prankster, high on life and fucking with people for the sheer fun of it all? Certainly the Obazma gang is ripe for the plucking.

  8. Libya has their own way of doing “PARTY!!

And in Syria it’s a war of all against all.

  9. So is this Andrew WK guy a sober reprise of the merry prankster, high on life and fucking with people for the sheer fun of it all?

That sums him up pretty well.

  10. Let’s never, ever let him get together with the ‘Dillo, m’kay?

  11. Awwww….

Seems it was all a “mistake.” Lot of that going on at State.

  12. Note that the State Dept spokestool called this a “mistake,” and not a hoax, stating that the invitation has been rescinded. Meaning that somebody in the Smartest Administration EVAR thought that this was a good idea, and DID issue an invitation to this person.

    Ineptocracy on parade.
