U.S. Ambassador Killed in Libya

U.S. ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens and three other embassy staff were killed in an attack in Benghazi on Wednesday, the White House confirmed on Wednesday.
President Obama strongly condemned the attacks, while also calling on embassies across the globe to increase security.
In an alternate America, a classically liberal President, having had reduced American foreign presence by half, quietly evacuated the entire consulate.
Then, having issued but one warning 48 hours prior, from offshore she razed one hundred blocks.
She never spoke of the incident again.

Apparently President Obama can’t see Egypt and Libya from his house.
Of course, MBM will not even think to ask why our embassies in the Middle East were not on full alert with a full contingent of locked and loaded marines.

The headline line, if the press chooses to report this, will be “Racist jingosit consulate personnel flee imperialist embassy, are rightfully killed by peace loving Muslim freedom fighters”.
Clearly Obama needs to perform a few more bows or other obsequities.
A smart Libyan President might use this as an opportunity to eliminate whole swaths of homegrown Islamists, if only to better cement power. If he does not I’d take it as tacit proof that he is of their ilk.

I am feeling rather retro today. I find seeing innocent people slain and their bodies dragged through the streets more offensive than some poorly made video about Mohammed. And by poorly made, I mean technical and artistic skill. Factually it is pretty darn close to what we know historically about Mohammed.

I think it’s great and all that Obama is sending the Marines to Libya now, but isn’t the host nation obligated to provide protection for foreign embassies/consulates? Where the hell where they? (that’s rhetorical). In the meantime, I hope the Marines have flamethrowers.
