Confirmed: Dede Scozzafava is a DIABLO* [Darleen Click] UPDATED

Democrat In All But Label Only*

During the day Saturday, she began to quietly and thoughtfully encourage her supporters to vote for Democrat William L. Owens.

AND

At 10 p.m. last night – right in the middle of the Halloween festivities – Scozzafava’s husband, Ron McDougall, president of the Jefferson/Lewis/St. Lawrence Central Labor Council issued a statement through the AFL-CIO that he is endorsing Owens against Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman.

According to his statement, it basically all comes down to support of the labor movement’s top priority, the Employee Free Choice Act (sic) and its controversial card-check provision, which Owens and Scozzafava supported – much to the chagrin of the right – and Hoffman pointedly does not.

As if anyone who supports the abolition of secret ballots could possibly claim to be conservative.

Even erstwhile Scozzafava supporter Newt Gingrich knows that the only choice is Doug Hoffman

William Jacobson highlights the ginned-up, fear-driven Democrat smear machine

The Hoffman phenomenon has crawled so far into Democratic heads that they are tearing their hair out trying to get rid of it. The theme du jour is that supporters of Hoffman are paranoid.

The always intolerant and closed-minded Frank Rich accuses Hoffman supporters of being “a wacky, paranoid cult that is as eager to eat its own as it is to destroy Obama.” Rich cites to a Harper’s Magazine article written by Richard Hofstadter in the early 1960s about the John Birch Society, and uses that supposed analogy to refer to the Hoffman phenomenon as being “Stalinist.” Actually, if intolerance of others is the problem, a more modern name for the disease would be “Frank Rich-ism.”

Even though conservatives are, at 40%, “the single largest ideological group”, authoritarian, fascist Leftists like Valerie Jarrett would have you believe Dede was a “moderate Republican” and Hoffman’s rising popularity is due to Republican Party leadership “becoming more and more extreme, and more and more marginalized.” No, it has nothing to do with actual citizens and their frustration at being ignored, dismissed, ridiculed and dehumanized. Nothing at all.

No. In the wise words of The One and his ilk: SHUT UP.

UPDATE: Erick Erickson points out some interesting history that belies the snarky concern-trolling by anti-conservatives that conservatives are “the problem”. He gives several examples of GOP “moderates” losing to conservatives who then turn around and throw their support to Democrats. I.E.

In Maryland 1, conservative physician and state senator Andy Harris ran in the Republican Primary against Wayne Gilchrist. Harris defeated Gilchrist only to see Gilchrist throw his support to Democrat Frank Kratovil, who won with 49.12% of the vote.

As Erick concludes:

All the time we hear “conservatives can’t win the general” and “conservatives should play nice with moderates.” The record shows that the moderates cannot take losing and conservatives don’t win the general because the moderate GOP stabs them in the back.

If we are a team, it can’t just be the conservative players in trouble for not passing the ball.

I found it kinda amusing Scozzfava’s decision to drop out was called “classy” alot of the beltway republicans. If she was classy, she wouldn’t be a republican when nearly all of her policies are democrat leaning. She’s a piece of crap, imho.

This is about as close to a 2×4 upside the head as any of these fatuous Republican grandees are going to get when it comes to “moderates” like Dede. She was just a liberal who wanted to use the “R” label as a stalking horse to power and a cushy Congressional sinecure. Maybe the pooh-bahs in the RNC like Gingrich, Steele and Boehner will rent a fucking clue now and realize that stumping for inherently perfidious cretins like Dede Scozzafava is only going to weaken their party’s caucus.

  21. Comment by Joe on 11/1 @ 3:45 pm #

And Snowcone, just goes to show Dede was no good. Good try on getting us to take the Harriet Miers choice. It did not work this time. Owens is more conservative than Dede, although I suspect this little play will actually help Hoffman now.

    EThat’s xactly backwards.

The Party supported Dede Scozzaflewoverthecuckoo’snest. They didn’t “force her out”. They would still be running ads for her if the district’s voters themselves hadn’t “forced her out” with low poll numbers.

Listening to voters is “marginalizing” and “extremist” according to Jarrett. And she’s a transgressive rebel outsider speaking truth to power from her office adjoining the Oval office.

    *becoming more and more extreme*

If extreme means “STOP SPENDING ALL OF OUR #!@#ing MONEY” then I’m down with extreme. I think the left can get away with calling social conservatives extreme but trying to demonize economic conservatives with the “extremist” meme is much less likely in this economy, with this president and this congress spending like drunken sailors.

I maintain if the republicans figure out how to make the economy their primary platform in 2010 and 2012, they have a viable chance of cutting off this socialist agenda at the pass.

Leftists are just lying sacks of shit. Except maybe snowclown who is too stupid to do anything but repeat what he’s told to.

The chattering class left always talks this way about the right. They even used William F. Buckley’s passing as a means to engage in crocodile tear nostalgia for the right “before it became hijacked by loony extremists.”

But twenty years ago Buckley made it his personal mission to get Connecticut RINO senator Lowell Weicker unseated. He formed a PAC to that end. His wife even took to passing out campaign literature outside supermarkets. The result was Senator Joe Lieberman.

Flash forward 20 years – a couple of years ago – and the loony left makes it their mission to unseat the otherwise reliably liberal Lieberman on account of his support for the Iraq war. Ned Lamont wins the primary as a result and Lieberman is forced to win as an independent in the general election.

So what’s the lesson? That when the left claims the right is becoming more extremist they are lying. That when they praise Buckley and conservatism past they are lying. And that they are hysterical children.

    NY-23: Scozzafava Endorses Owens

State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava (R), who dropped from the special election in Upstate New York yesterday, has now thrown her support to Democrat Bill Owens.

“It’s not in the cards for me to be your representative, but I strongly believe Bill is the only candidate who can build upon John McHugh’s lasting legacy in the U.S. Congress,” said Scozzafava in a statement released moments ago.

I’ve been trying to find an old link to an article by an Illinois Democrat Congressman from back before 1994 where he described a meeting that every freshman Democrat had with the then Democrat Speaker.

They were told they had a choice to make. They could vote as they wished, get no committee assignments, no legislation passed, and next election the DNCC would run someone against them in the primary and beat them.

Or they could do as the leadership wanted and have a long, successful career and a good position upon retirement. I suspect the “Blue Dogs” got that same talk from Pelosi.

Delay may have been called “The Hammer” but the Democrat Speakers of the House have been more along the lines of the “Battle-axe”.

The latter is the most grievous sin, ‘feets. It’s like just shoot me now bad.

“…with this president and this congress spending like drunken sailors.”

I really wish this particular meme would go away. Drunken sailors quit spending when they run out of money, they don’t have a choice. The places I frequented in the day didn’t take credit or put an extream limit on it.

This president and this congress currently done have that stopgap.

Part of the German strategy at the Battle of the Bulge was to send in english speaking German troops, dressed as American infantry, to disrupt communication lines, change sign posts, cause any and all sorts of havoc behind Allied lines. When discovered and captured the fake GIs (Germans) were summarily executed in the field.

Democrat’s operation DIABLO is no different. The outcome should be no different.

Wasn’t this lady picked by the local republicans?

    No.

If she’d been picked by the “local Republicans” they wouldn’t be voting for Hoffman en masse, now would they, you lying crapweasel?
